Wielding 9-11 as a red hot political poker whenever it is electorally convenient is the outrage.
Then again, I am talking to someone who prioritizes “skinning grizzlies” over actual foreign policy know-how for choice of VP
Stu was the first to chide someone for verging the other 9-11 thread off course by discussing Bush.
Here, in this thread, where the non sequitur involves pillorying Democrats, you’re all enveloped by a blanket of silence.
Apostate political whores…every last one of you.

For fucks sake, people, can't you let it go, leave it out of ONE thread?

I agree. :?

I agree too and am sorry for my part in it.

Me too...All who've taken part in it are wrong. Period. There's another thread for this kind of crap and it can be taken there.

Well, the news outlets sure won't let us forget about it......but as far as that old American come-together-ness after a tragedy song and dance......that disappeared about 2 weeks after 9/11. Just in time to get back to their self-important lives.....

True story: About a week after 9/11, I was parking my car in a Walmart lot. When this women in her mid 50s pulled up beside me, got out of her shitbox, looked at my car - exhaled LOUDLY, mind you, and rolled her eyes....I saw this and kept walking. She called out for me, 'Where's your flag?' I was in no mood for bullshit. I turned around and said, 'Excuse me'. She said, 'Where's your american flag?'

I said, ' I don't need to flaunt an american flag on my car to prove I'm patriotic.'

She came out with this gem, 'You are what's wrong with this country'

So....I replied, 'Ma'am, please don't lecture me on what's wrong with this country, and what isn't. you known what nationalism is? She gave me a blank stare. 'Look it up in the dictionary. THAT'S what's ruining this country. Have a rotten day!'

People like to pump up their chests and assume the patriotic pose....but deep down inside, they couldn't give a rat's ass about nobody but themselves.....

This thread took an irrevocable sharp turn to the political dark side by post 2.
I guess using 9-11 for the political grist mill is OK just so long as it doesn’t involve bashing a Republican, right?
Your patriotism is every inch as real as Harvey Fierstein’s botched silicon vagioplasty.

anyone who recalls last years thread will know why my family took the day off to go the county fair rather than answer phones and watch tv today. but someome emailed me about this thread, which I am reading now from my phone. Jim, I'm sure you meant well but OUCH. for those that piled on the political bandwagon instead of just letting it rest today...any chance you might show some respect and leave it be until tomorrow?

Today is not about politics. Go to the political thread to do what you do. Today I wish to grieve. Today is about those who were lost. I am truly sorry for you, you want to bring your perverted insults to a thread about grieving. All the big words you use will not take away that fact.

I cannot see how anyone can ever forget where they were that day, and how they felt. I still get upset and cry every year about this time. For everyone who felt a loss, our hearts are with you. :( :(

Yeah we're seeing footage that I don't remember seeing before. Unreal.

My neighbor was on the express bus that morning, going to work. Bus driver told them to get off the bus and run. He did the same.

Watching this is bringing it all back.

This doesn't show any actual planes but still not for the faint of heart. This is video from a family near the WTC. At about the 20 minute mark the smoke/dust comes all the way to where they live.

Its like being there. Very surreal.

Saw a thread called songs related to 9/11 but its veered into a lib versus con discussion so thought I'd revive last years.

Hard to believe another year has passed.

I know what you mean, it is hard to fathom it now, much like a bad dream you can't wake yourself out of. And as for the political pundents who can't stop bickering..........they will bicker on because that is what they like to do. Personally I am sick of both parties and I wish Dem and Repub. leaders would take a long walk off a short peer. They haven't attended to what matters, such as doing their job instead of getting the upper hand and getting even with their opponents.

Today I am not Republican or Democrat, or Libertarian, I am an American.........and I greive over the loss of the innocents. Can you ever truely forget the horror of that day? I know I can't.

Agreed.

9/11 should officially be a day of remembrance as Memorial Day is. As time passes, people forget. Especially if its just another day of routine.

I can't get what I saw on TV all day that day out of my mind.

Thanks for the bump SC. I agree with other folks, this should be an official day of remembrance.
