Our economy has been UNCOMPETITIVE thanks to deregulation. There are SO MANY WAYS in which this can be measured.

One of the most alarming is the value of the dollar against foreign currency - down more than 60% under Bush.

Sorry Lula, but we all know Dean can be a bit off with his predictions. He predicted Hillary would win the nomination in a landslide, and that didn't work out to well! I will be VERY surprised if Obama wins this election. I think if Obama were a white man that he would absolutely win in a landslide. I've seen some of the disgusting racism in this country, and I am supremely confident that this country isn't electing a black president!

Palin. Interesting choice of attire when meeting with a conservative Muslim leader.

Ouch. Talk about disrespect.

If Obama's last name was Williams, and he was Caucasian, he would get 400 electoral votes. The ONLY reason Obama might not win is racism, pure and simple. I've seen it right here, on this board.

Think she should have slapped on a burka? Appeaser. Did she fly to a Muslim country or did he come here?

You were saying Obama was going to win. Why play both sides of the race card?

not sure... but if obama loses to mccain people will say it's because he is black... especially the media & people like puff diddy or whatever he's calling himself these days. bah.

what if he wins? will it be because mccain is an old white guy?

surely there are dems who won't vote for obama because he is black... for me it came off very tacky coming out of the mouth of a candidate.

If that's the case (not saying it is or isn't) what is the angle? To guilt his party into voting for him? It is the democratic voters that they're talking about that aren't 'comfortable' with a black candidate, isn't it?

If McCain loses (and I don't think he will), it will be because he couldn't beat an African-American man in a nation filled to the brim with intolerance and racism. I like McCain, but he is EXTREMELY fortunate to have even won the nomination, and he's up against the only Democrat he could have beaten in the 2008 general election.

What did he say? I must've missed something...

I heard the "He's got a funny name, and oh yeah, he's black" bit that he did. Was there something more recent? What I heard today was that some poll was done and a percentage of democrats said that they couldn't/wouldn't vote for Obama because he's black.

Why don't you just come out and say you hate this country? If I thought that about the people here I'd hate it too. Quit trying to play yourself as down the middle. You're a flaming lib. Just admit it. If Clay Aiken is man enough to come out, you should be too.

Paraphrasing here...

Katie asked about the ad blasting McCain for not being able to use the computer. He jumped right in and said it was horrible and shouldn't have been done.

Then... he later released a statement saying something about how he hadn't actually seen the ad in question and now that he had an opportunity to see it, there's nothing wrong with it because McCain had done some negative ads too.

No, she should have been RESPECTFUL of the OTHER CULTURES with which she was interacting.

Barb - pan down there a little bit. Her earwarmers were showing. HIGHLY inappropriate for what she was doing. And VERY disrespectful.

Here's Biden's statement:

“Having now reviewed the ad, it is even more clear to me that given the disgraceful tenor of Sen McCain’s ads and their persistent falsehoods, his campaign is in no position to criticize,” he said, “especially when they continue to distort Barack’s votes on an issue as personal as keeping kids safe from sexual predators.”

I guess I really am an airhead, cause I don't know what 'earwarmers' are... (do you mean her boobies??? :? )

I see nothing wrong with her outfit though, Daniel. The color is certainly conservative enough, and it looks like an American woman's business attire. I don't see anything disrespectful there.

In the long terms scheme of things, who gives a fuck?
How many gaffes on substantive issues, like, oh, say, foreign policy, has McCain gotten a free pass on by the press?
His ramblings today on the financial meltdown were particularly senile.

Just breaking - McCain campaign advisor was on the take from Freddie Mac up until a month ago.
McCain claimed those ties were cut in 2005 and encouraged the press to do a thorough background check.
Careful what you wish for...

IDK, I'm not counting, on either side. I just thought it was interesting. It was suggested that Biden released that statement because he got his hand slapped by Obama. Dunno if it's true or not.

I didn't see today's ramblings so I can't comment on that. But... since we were talking about (race) discrimination earlier, one could argue that your comment is equally as discriminatory, because you used the descriptive word 'senile' for a man in his 70's. IDK if you did that intentionally or not, and it really doesn't matter. It's just an example of how people (on both sides) will take a word or a comment and jump on it and make it into something it may not be intended to be. FWIW, I hate it when politicians do that shit. The phony outrage is sickening.
