I can see the conflict of interest, but at the same time, I can't understand how anyone who has watched Ifill would walk away saying she is anything less than a consumate and objective pro.

She has responded:

"I've got a pretty long track record covering politics and news, so I'm not particularly worried that one-day blog chatter is going to destroy my reputation. The proof is in the pudding. They can watch the debate tomorrow night and make their own decisions about whether or not I've done my job."

Regardless of her ability to remain neutral or not, the appearance is still there. I'm certain the Obama camp probably wouldn't be too happy if the situation were reversed.

i agree dave. if i didn't read a few mccain quotes today stating he believed ifill could and would be objective, i'd have no problem siding with the call for a different moderator. Since mccain himself basically is fine with it i say go forward. i won't be surprised by any of the spin if palin doesn't shine tho.

Puppet Palin could have twelve people in her ear, telling her what to say, and when to say it, and she'd still fuck it up! The woman has A.D.D., and can't even concentrate on the question being asked. Every interview I've seen with her (and I've seen every one that McCain has allowed) has required the interviewer to repeatedly ask her the same question, because she simply doesn't answer anything! I thought McCain would surely win this election, until I saw this dopey Governor in action. I am now convinced that even in this very racist country, there is NO way Americans are going to allow that woman anywhere near The White House!

First of all, compared to most other countries, the U.S.A. is not "very racist". I get kinda sick of hearing that. The real problem here is not racism but classism (if that's even a word).

Secondly, I'll take Palin as VP over Biden any day of the week. If that guy stuck his foot in his mouth any more than he already does, he'd have swallowed himself up to his hip by now.

Sorry dude...It's my opinion, and I stand by it. I've seen it with my own two eyes and heard it with my own two ears, throughout my life, and I'm a white guy! Believe me when I tell you...It doesn't make me proud, at all, to come to that realization about my home country. That said, this is a very racist country, and it dissapoints me beyond belief!

Listen, I can't stand Biden. I've never liked the guy. That said, talking about Biden sticking his foot in his mouth is silly, given the interviews that Puppet Palin has been participating in. The woman sounds like a complete fucking moron, who can't put a sentence together! Fortunately, I don't think most of the country is remotely prepared for Puppet Palin in The White House, so I don't think her ticket is getting elected.

Whoa there dude...I've lived in the north all my life. We are not all the same. Regardless, he has a right to his opinion, however wrong it may be.

BTW...I see you live in Titusville. My in-laws live there. What part of town do you live in?

Two words, Lula. Plausable Deniability. In this case, I firmly believe that they are not demanding a new moderator, because they feel that if Palin goes down in flames tonight they can blame the moderator's bias. It seems to me a constant theme among McCain's campaign as of late...these idiotic hail mary pass eratic antics in an effort to try to play a low-percentage shot at gaining on Obama.

This falls in line with it.

Believe me, if it were the other way around, not only would the DNC and every dem pundit demand a new moderator...they'd have 8-10 replacements already picked out.

Simply moving away from an issue does not solve it. This aggressive opinion does nothing but give credence the original posters point.

John from Boston is spot on in his assessment of Palin. She is absolutely vacant and gets more annoying and less coherent with every outing. She is downright incapable of answering pretty much any question without babbling. The more difficult the question, the cuter she becomes in an effort to distract the viewer - it's unbelievable! As for Bush wearing a wire - the idiot probably just left the coat hanger on!

That's the beauty of an "opinion", Dave...They are never wrong! Whether or not you agree with someone's opinion is an entirely different issue. Everyone is free to express how they feel about anything they want. It doesn't make one opinion any more or less valid than the next!

ahhh yes....yankees are all the same...southerners are all the same.....black people are all the same..asians are all the same....hispanics are all the same....etc....all part of the human family...all necessary to make up this world....all the same yet different enough to give it interesting diversity instead of too much sameness....all the same yet very much individuals even within each subgroup that we are classified as ....so.. if judged fairly it should be done one by one instead of rushing to judgement due to stereotyping from fear, lack of knowledge and understanding, the actions of some, from our own experiences...and frankly from passed down and propagated ignorance ...which is a shame because really, you are right....if you look past the labels we are all the same beneath....material possessions or lack of.. skin color.. nor culture makes worth nor can be used as criteria to define all....whats inside and how that is expressed individually defines us....so you should take heed before you express whats inside you ..you might get mislabeled as something you may not be...or maybe correctly. 8)

How about all the pork in the bailout bill. It's pretty disgusting that some of our Senators needed some kind of incentive to vote for this bill instead of putting the country first. I don't know if these earmarks were put in for Democrats or Republicans. Doesn't matter. Arggghhhhhh!!!

You gotta admit, he is pretty funny...

Top 5 Joe Biden Gaffes Image
Sunday September 21, 2008

Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden has long been known a gaffe machine, and lately he's been living up to his reputation. Here are the most laughable Biden gaffes of the campaign so far:

5. "I guarantee you, Barack Obama ain't taking my shotguns, so don’t buy that malarkey. They're going to start peddling that to you. I got two, if he tries to fool with my Beretta, he’s got a problem. I like that little over and under, you know? I'm not bad with it. So give me a break. Give me a break.'" --Joe Biden, threatening his running mate

4. "A man I'm proud to call my friend. A man who will be the next President of the United States — Barack America!" --Joe Biden, at his first campaign rally with Barack Obama (Watch video clip)

3. "When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened." Joe Biden, apparently unaware that FDR wasn't president when the stock market crashed in 1929 and that only experimental TV sets were in use at that time

2. "Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me." --Joe Biden, speaking at a town hall meeting in Nashua, New Hampshire

1. "Stand up, Chuck, let 'em see ya." Joe Biden, to Missouri state Sen. Chuck Graham, who is in a wheelchair, Columbia, Missouri, Sept. 12, 2008 (Watch video clip)

no it's not ok. the man suffered an unbelievable loss, it should be left at that. however, this is not enought to make me think he is not qualified to hold the office of vp.

No, it's heaven help us if McCain gets elected and kicks off and Iraq-is-a-task-from-God Sarah Palin, who is clearly out of her league to be VP, is our President of the United States dealing with Russia, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan. She can't even handle Katie Couric. Peace.
