Well, I somewhat disagree with TNC and Dave. Not one of us here know anything at all about this fuckin bailout and what it all entails. Hell, there are no mre than 5 people in these United States who really grasp it all.

So you guys say "no" to a bailout? We can't have Wall Street Bankrupt or not functioning. Regardless of the corruption at hand, it is times like this the US Gov't can and has played the key role in a domestic fiasco.

Not one of us here can say for certain whether the bailout was good or bad.

The fact that neither of them could do it should give one a clue as to how beholden to Wall Street both really are.

I agree as well....but I'm talking about McCain's campaign cornerstone against pork spending. He established his own bar...and then failed to meet it. Also...the point I was making is that politically, Obama voting for or against the bailout doesn't affect him in this election nearly as much as it does McCain, given the above point.

McCain's vote however, could have hurt him or helped him. He positioned himself in such a way that his vote regarding this bill is more important than Obamas. He got hoodwinked by congress....and allowed himself to be....4 weeks before an election. Not a smart thing to do.

Also, if you've read the bailout (both the original and ammended one), you'll see there are plenty of considerations in there that could fall in line with democrat thinking, while there are little to no considerations (other than quite possibly specific ones to republican constituencies to buy the votes necessary for passing the ammended one). So having said that, Obama's voting for the bailout doesn't scream allegiance with Wall Street nearly as much as McCain's vote does.

As already stated in this thread and pretty much everywhere else, this crissis put the spotlight right on McCain's shoulders and took it off Obama's in a NY split second....and McCain has been fucking up every second the spotlight turned to him.

Hey bitch, Hillary IS indeed a bitch, a very educated, smart and sassy one who kicks ass. I bet you Hillary can tell you what newspapers she has read and that Alaska is not our last bastion of defense against Russia, lol.

Hillary would crush Palin in any debate or campaign, and youknow it. Sadly, I think good ol Sarah's national political career is history in 3 weeks, and her gubernatorial one may be over as well.

Now tell me how in the Hell Michelle Obama is a bitch? What devious and evil shit has she pulled to earn her that label?

Yes Tito, I did support Hillary and still think she would be a better president than Obama, but hey, that's why they play the games.

I agree.

Satan Palin is just a ****, with no education and a a hard-on for big guns.

Did you all just watch the Obama speech this morning(on all the cable news networks?) MASTERFUL, inspiring,
and proposed creative immediate fixes for the middle class economic crisis, including no capital gains tax on small businesses and tax credits to companies that hire Americans (for each hire, a bigger credit!!) and more.

I found myself on my feet, in my own house, applauding.
And at the end he actually brought me to tears, and I've never cried for a political speech before.
I actually was thinking that if McCain could've heard the speech he would secretly vote for Obama, his proposals were THAT ON TARGET and the speech was THAT GOOD. If only he were President today!

He said he was calling on Congress to begin the necessasry legislation to implement his proposals immediately, but if that didn't happen, he would do it DAY 1 of an OBAMA PRESIDENCY.
You want to feel better about the future of this country? Try to catch a repeat of his speech, in full!
He isn't just any candidate for President. He has the potential to be one of the BEST WE"VE EVER HAD!

Lula wrote:Polifact Debunks Obama-Ayers Connection

The McCain campaign and the RNC are still using ads (e.g., like this one that link Obama and 1960s radical William Ayers. Now Polifact has examined the ads closely and concluded that the claim that Obama and Ayers ran a radical education foundation together is a "pants-on-fire" lie. While it is true that Obama was the nominal head of the foundation in question, Ayers never had a paid position on the foundation's staff, never was on the board, and never had a vote on anything. His connection to Obama was attending some board meetings that were open to the public, and this 20 years after his radical days, by which time he had reformed enough to get a Ph.D. in education from Columbia University and was able to win Chicago's "Citizen of the Year" award in 1997 for his work for nonprofit organizations. In short, while Ayers was a despicable person in his youth, the McCain campaign's relentless harping on the close relationship between Obama and Ayers is very misleading. They weren't close at all.

Time for something new guys.

One of the tools that could help us out of this crissis is the temporarily suspension of capital gains tax for investors and small businesses. The fact that Obama mentioned this regarding small businesses is masterful, because it's a republican/right wing ideal. Too bad he didn't go the extra yard and include investors in such a declaration. If you want people to invest in the market and increase market confidence, make it less costly for them to invest and move money around in the market.

Obama's treading water in the right, and he's doing so carefully, to not upset the the cvnt sitting as speaker of the house (who's been lashing at anyone who even thinks about cutting capital cains tax to help this crissis).

What makes such a statement smart (and I have to assume he said what you are quoting, as I didnt see the speech) is that he's coupling the tax cuts on capital gains with tax credits (which can actually have an increasing effect on the implied tax rate)...which would make democrats happy.

So he's sorta stradding both sides of the fence without pissing off anyone. Smart move....

Common sense.

Dick Morris has it right (which is sad i agree with him). Forget how well they know each other, etc. People are going to believe what they want to believe or not believe and you lose people with this. The issue should be Obama has the same ideology as Ayers as far as education and other social issues. That is the bigger issue. I think everyone would admit Ayers is not in the mainstream but on the radical left...which apparently is where Obama is too (on these issues). That is fair game and should give everyone worries.

It comes from Cliff Schecter's book...but no one else is rushing to back the asshat up.

Come off it Dean...if you want to hold the moral high ground and say people shouldn't be taking it to Obama the way they are then you have to say the same about when they take it to McCain.

I am not taking anything to McCain. Don't need to! He called his OWN WIFE the c word. he is doing enough damage for Obama not to even mention his name!

ONE writer...who is writing a book about McCain, in the negative light, and has a vested interest in controversy has said this. Cliff Schecter. With no sources to back it up.

You have no proof, and once again your piss poor debating technique fails.
