If greed is defined by me thinking it's fair for me to pay the same % of my income to taxes as everyone else...Let the Dems call me greedy.

If greed is defined by me thinking it's absurd that just because I make double what someone else makes, I'm supposed to pay even more than double their taxes?...Let the Dems call me greedy.

If greed is defined by me being sick and tired of poor people complaining I should pay more taxes to help them when I have yet to hear a thank you for buying the roads they drive on, paying for the teachers and textbooks their kids use and for paying a nice chunk of my income for social security which I'll never see since it's all going to support them...Again, let the Dems call me greedy.

You got that right. They could at least kiss us before they screw us. But no! We're effing scumbags because ..GASP...we want to spend/keep our own money. Takes balls to call the people who support you greedy doesn't it. That's effd up thinking.

Money is of course, the root of ALL EVIL. EVIL. EVIL.  But lets look at the big picture of where it all stems from.

Republicans do whatever possible to take away any choices Democrats could possibly make in order to direct our own lives. They simply need our surplus to spend on their wars. Need to go to your multi-trillion dollar business sitting in a cubical? They need our roads and bridges that we build with our bare hands to conduct it. Not to mention needing our healthy workers to make their products. They need our ideas because they have no ideas of their own.. our ideas to simply say "no" to.

So republicans have held the White House for the past eight years. Have held the entire congress for the past twelve years out of past fourteen years. And the republicans blame the democrats, who have held the congress for just two years, for all these problems? Scratching my head. Republicans spend their time in office trying to say no to things, block things, resist things. Democratic presidents are active, idealistic, and try to achieve things.

Oh, forgive me. I am simply just a liberal from Pittsburgh. I must be missing yet another government bail-out, using our tax dollars, while writing this.

I heard about this quite a while ago and it is indeed true. However, there are lots of other things making Mr. Gore worthy of having a good laugh at.

Officials: FBI investigates ACORN for voter fraud

By LARA JAKES JORDAN
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - The FBI is investigating whether the community activist group ACORN helped foster voter registration fraud around the nation before the presidential election.
A senior law enforcement official confirmed the investigation to The Associated Press on Thursday. A second senior law enforcement official says the FBI was looking at results of recent raids on ACORN offices in several states for any evidence of a coordinated national scam.

Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because Justice Department regulations forbid discussing ongoing investigations particularly so close to an election.

ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, says it has registered 1.3 million young people, minorities and poor and working-class voters—most of whom tend to be Democrats.

Republican accusations about the group were raised during Wednesday's presidential debate between Democrat Barack Obama and GOP candidate John McCain.

Some ACORN employees have been accused of submitting false voter registration forms—including some signed `Mickey Mouse' or other fictitious characters.

Those voter registration cards have become the focus of fraud investigations in Nevada, Connecticut, Missouri and at least five other states. Election officials in Ohio and North Carolina also recently questioned the group's voter forms.

ACORN has said the "vast majority" of its workers are conscientious, but some might have turned in duplicate applications or provided fake information to pad their pay. Workers caught submitting false information have been fired, ACORN officials say.

ACORN says laws in a number of states require it to submit all registration cards it collects even dubious ones, so its workers segregate applications with missing, suspicious or false information and flag them so state election officials can quickly check them further.

Voter registration fraud is not the same thing as voter fraud.
As long as ID checks are required at the polls, how does signing up Mickey Mouse help Obama steal the election?

Here's the deal.

The report you posted about the Secret Service saying "it didn't happen" was regarding a Palin rally in Scranton, PA (4100 people by the way), but the real video and the one I saw occurred at Clearwater, FL. a week ago. So pardon the outburst on my part as the confusion stems from you posting that link regarding a second assumed "kill him" scream.

I will search all fucking day if I have to, but in the end, you fuckers will just spin it anyways.

I'll call you greedy and clueless! You're an arrogant dude. I earn a very good living and probably have no right earning as much money as I do. That said, I would NEVER make a comment that "I've never heard a thank you for buying the roads they drive on" or "paying for the teachers and textbooks". It's an idiotic thing to say, and you're trying to make yourself sound FAR more important than you are. It's not just people in the higher income bracket who are paying for roads and to educate our children, so stop giving yourself so much credit!

People who earn more money (myself included) pay more taxes. That's the way it is and the way it should be. Why the fuck should someone working at McDonald's pay the same percentage of taxes that Warren Buffet pays? As for your teacher comment, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you must not have children, to make such a callous comment. My wife is a school teacher, and you should be thankful that the teachers of America work for the paltry wages they work for, to educate our children. I hope that your views don't represent that of the majority of Republicans. It would be frightening to think anyone is this out of touch with reality!John from Boston

The post is not arrogant at all. You conveniently clipped the sentence in half to make YOUR point. You know nothing about me, except that I'm a Rays fan (which makes you misplace your anger). THE POINT is that I'm paying MORE THAN MY SHARE. Bring on the flat tax, baby!
Also, where am I saying anything negative about teachers?   ....Spin away.

Because it's fair? Why punish success? "Johnny, you got straight A's on your report card, but Jose got 3 F's on his. We're gonna make 3 of your grades B's and give Jose 3 D's." Yeah, that makes sense.

Most states don't have voter ID, do they? Even here in Indiana where we do have it, they only check my ID at the door and don't even bother checking my signature against the one they have on file.

Ugh, I assume this is flat tax discussion? While I understand the fairness aspect of it...the fact of the matter is that a properly scaled (which I don't think our current tax code is) progressive tax is a very important built in stabilizer of our economy. With a flat tax, recessions would likely be mini-depressions and inflationary-periods would likely turn near hyper-inflationary.

I think a better aproach is to reindex the tax system to be more representative of the cost of living and salaries. 250k is NOT the ultra rich in this country...and it hasn't been for years...almost decades.

I can agree with this, but I'll never agree with anyone paying over 39%. And I don't give a fuck if they make 20 billion a year. A near relative percentage on a per dollar earned basis isn't too much to ask. A little bit higher is ok, but I don't think anyone's tax bracket should start with a fucking "3."

Brains are different than income. Little Jose can work his little ass off and eventually get to the status of where Johnny is, making his A's. The hard working Steel Mill worker will work his ass off his entire life and not see anywhere near a less working, desk job, moneymaker would.

First off, I never claimed to know anything about you. I don't need to know anything about you to comment on a post you made! As for the Rays fan comment...please! I told you before the series started (and it's on this board, if you want to look it up) that the Rays would win this series. They are the better team, and they deserve to win. I also told you that I love their pitching staff. I simply said that Florida sports fans are an embarrassment to the country, and stand by that. All the gay cowbell ringing in the world isn't going to elevate Florida sports fans as being anything other than front runners!

Uno_up wrote: THE POINT is that I'm paying MORE THAN MY SHARE.

So what! So is every other working stiff. Move to a country that has lower tax brackets, if the present system doesn't work for you. The reality is that in spite of the rhetoric, the middle class pay a larger proportion of taxes. I can tell you that I paid far more taxes when I was making $50K a year than I pay making quite a bit more than that. As your income goes up, your tax deductions and creative accounting follow! I simply don't buy into the notion that higher income earners are paying a disproportionate percentage of the taxes, in spite of the fact that the current U.S. tax code mandates it!

Uno_up wrote: Also, where am I saying anything negative about teachers?   ....Spin away.

There is no need for me to "spin" anything. Your exact comment is listed below. You tell me the positive connotation that seems to be escaping me.

Save up your beer, cigarette and bar money and go back to school and become a lawyer. But they won't...L A Z Y.

You lost me here. First, they did make this country (look at your neighborhood where it was 30 years ago to today). Second, I don't think they were ever complaining about their pay, they are complaining about their job being shipped overseas or taken by an illegal alien. Third, fuck lawyers. They're the problem.

My point is that union wages are out of control and created a gap between us and the rest of the world that became so large we couldn't compete. Unions ruined the steel industry, the auto industry and the teacher's union has all but ensured that this country will never see educated children come out of inner city schools. Unions of yester-year and today are very different. And yes, I retract the lawyers segment of my post. The majority are scum of this earth.
