This is what happens when you let the U.N. run the show.

Exactly my point. If the U.N. isn't the "global test", then what is?

Speaking in Seattle on Sunday, Biden said he could guarantee that the world will want to find out if Obama is up to the job, which he assured voters he is.

"Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking," Biden said.

"Remember I said it standing here. if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. And he's gonna have to make some really tough -- I don't know what the decision's gonna be, but I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it's gonna happen," Biden continued.

Yeh, and then Biden went on to talk about how Obama was equipped with "steel in his spine."
Whats newsorthy about Joe Biden bloviating out on the hustings?
Even Pat Buchanan was nonplussed about it.

Riiiiight.
Whereas Jon McCain is such a dove he couldn't even wait for his campaign to end before saber ratling with Russia, and cracking wise about carpet-bombing Iran.

You're worried about what *may* happen under President Obama, while you're guy is out there actively cheerleading for a nuclear deathstorm.

The world knows Obama is an appeaser just like Carter. The Iranians were openly laughing at Carter and the US, saying Carter was, "running around like a headless chicken." It wasn't a coincidence the hostages were freed on Reagan's inauguration.

reagan didn't sit with terrorist nations without first going through a diplomatic process with concessions.

mccain said it right "obama wants to sit down with iran and talk... iran will say we hate you, and obama will say no you don't" that's productive.

So because a sovereign nation, which has never attacked anyone, chooses to pursue nuclear power (honestly or not), you think it’s ok for the President to crack jokes about bombing them into rack and ruin?
Last I checked, de-facto declarations of war were not the stuff of light dinner conversation.

it was hardly a declaration of war, it was a *personal* joke... and mccain apologized for it.

iran has never attacked anyone? that's not a true statement, they attacked iraq. they have declared their intentions for the nuclear power to wipe out isreal, and their allies (including the us).

I would love for a reporter to pin Joe down and ask, WTF were you talking about. We deserve to know, and the sooner the better.

It was also only sparsley reported that right after that remark, Biden, noticing press in the back of the room said, "I probably shouldn't have said that."

I'll find the exact quote. ABC had it.

I'm not sticking up for anyone, I even indicated their pursuit of peaceful civilian nuclear power is probably a bluff.

There's NOTHING personal about talking in front of a crowd of people at a campaign event with cameras present.
Is there no pig swill from this campaign you won't blindly swallow?

EDIT - McCain's 'killing the Iranians with cigarettes' line was a personal joke, I'm not talking about that.

treetopovskaya wrote:iran has never attacked anyone? that's not a true statement, they attacked iraq.

Yea, after Saddam attacked them first.
And what bearing does that have on a diplomat seeking the highest office making jokes about killing people?

Ahmadinejad is dumb, but he has never been so dumb to say he would wipe us out.

IRAN,
Kill em all and let God sort them out? That won't work will it? Provoke them into attacking Israel and have Israel turn the middle east into a nice big shiny mirror? No more Jews, no more Ah-rabs, no access to fucking oil, that would make us go green wouldn't it?

Not at all.
Why do people carry things like a lucky rabbits foot or a lucky compass with them?
They defer to chance, luck, and emotion, and not reason.
In addition to his vault of magic trinkets, now might be a good time to bring up McCain's notorious gambling problem.
