I'm not talking about now when he is an official party nominee. I'm talking about when he first announced and was just a (one of 20+ (both parties combined)) candidate. To my knowledge Hillary was the only other candidate with Secret Service protection and that was because she gets that as a former first lady. Obama's was excessive and rivaled the President's protection.

It's his race Tito..as much as I don't want BO as POTUS, we all have to realize the man is walking into uncharted territory. There is a fraction of this population that is going to really really hate that he might be their Leader because of his skin color. Some may act out and that was the reason he was protected so early. I give the man credit for his bravery, don't care for his policies as I've seen them so far but he's got the guts to go first, and he needs protection as would anyother minority type candidate. It was the right thing to do.

He is not the first. Jesse Jackson and others have gone before him. He is the first to go this far but I am commenting to when he FIRST announced he was running not now. This race thing is totally overblown. IF something happens it will be due to nothing more than the law of averages. If you look at history we are (for lack of a better term) overdue for one. There hasn't been an attempt in over 27 years, which may be the longest in the country's history.

I don't think Blitzer or Greta are in the tank for either party.
Blitzer, in particular, tries to be fair to both sides and ends up serving noone.

You're right regarding Gretta....she's just vomit-inducingly repulsive to watch in HD....so I couldn't resist throwing that ugly wench in with the rest.

Blitzer, however, is left-wing trash....and has been for years. The difference, however, is that he is being heavily ratcheted back by his network, because they have made a concerted effort to get more neutral with their delivery, because Fox was tearing them a new ass in ratings a few years ago...which resulted in loss of advertising revenue.

To this end....CNN, as of late, doesn't swing it's dick too far to the left or right. They have people that ride the middle well, and will shit on either party when it suits them. Dobbs and Brown come to mind. John King seems to be a pole smoker for the right...but he doesn't dare open his mouth too far...and like I already said, Blitzer feigns neutrality, but he's as much a leftie-pole smoker as olberman. He's just on a very short, and tight leash.

Liberals watch Olberman because they get an entertainment factor out of watching Olberman spew his worst person in the world bullshit....and Conservatives enjoy that blowhard Oreilly because he's got a history of cutting into politicians...

However, both rarely tune in to the shows in an effort to get a clear picture of the news of the day.

Really, the sad, cold hard truth is that there are very few news anchors out there that are truly doing their jobs....instead, they're playing the roles of head shrinks, psychiatrists, drinking buddies or vollyballs with a face drawn in blood.

You nailed it. I've fled virtually all right wing news shows because I simply cannot stomach the lop sided analysis. As far back as 2004 when it was PAINFULLY obvious the Republicans were simply out of control, people like Hannity were towing the party line. That's when I left the Republican party.

Both Parties are trying to use Media to a fault....and it's repulsive. At times, I really enjoy some left and right-leaning commentary....so long as it's done correctly.

For example....My wife loves Rachel Maddow, and I think she's spot on 90% of the time....and I will gladly join her when watching Maddow. However, Maddow's followed by that douchebucket Olberman...who's invented more facts than Bill Oreilly....

At the other side of the coin, When Lou Dobb's puts on his righty-hat, he tends to do it well...while not hiding his disdain for Bush and the tumor-faced cocksmoker that intends to succeed him.

Is this the same Wolf Blitzer who got his start working for Pat Robertson's 700 club as a foreign correspondent, and openly mocked Paul Begala's religious faith cuz he was liberal?
What you say may have validity, but I've seen him carry water for both sides, and its usually not on the part of the Dems.
I view him alot like Russert.

One thing I am grateful for, with the introduction of HD TV, is the fact that female news anchors are getting more and more, well...hot. On all the networks, they are grabbing people that do their job well, but look extremely fuckable...and that works for me. I admit it...when it comes to getting news delivered to me, I want it to come from someone that looks good enough, that I would stab a kitten to get the chance to plow into. {/male pig mode off}

But for some reason, they still think Gretta is someone that is appealing on tv....

Greta's show is horrible. I don't understand why anyone watches her show. Same goes for Nancy Grace. Can't stand that woman, either.

You can't tie someone's political leanings to their first job. You know darn well that to break into this business, you need to take whatever break you get...even if it's working for the 700 club.

And if his berating of Paul Begala is evidence...then confirming of begala's position (or at times surpassing it) needs to be in play as well. There have been comments during this election where Blitzer produces a more leftie response than Begala.

Like I said, I really think they've got Blitzer on a short leash. They DONT want their current face-boy of the network to go too far in either direction....

Onto other people....Begala....I actually like Begala, because as a leftie...he delivers his view with factual support. He's clear, concise, and he knows how to distile down the facts.....dreadfully unlike that uneducated pig Donna Brasile. The fact that they bestowed superdelegate status on that infalted sack of protoplasm is just mind boggling to me...

Agreed.
Brasile makes for feckless opposition.
Would be a worthy addition to the Fox News liberal chorus line along with Kristen "you're right Sean" Powers.

I always liked her...actually I should say LUSTED for her <evil grin>

This is interesting, from wikipedia:

With a height of 6' 0', Dhue was known as the tallest and one of the most athletic female journalists on television. While mostly inactive currently, the high number of Yahoo! groups dedicated to her is a testament to her immense popularity. She is divorced, having once been married to Thomas Colquitt.

Wow...you're right. SHE'S ready for the Presidency.

Oh, and there's this, too.

BTW...Fox News is NOT a "source".

You guys rip the NY Times all the time for being a bastion of liberalism...yet they have not written ONE article about McCain's close friendship with that lunatic G. Gordon Liddy (he was one of the guys in the Watergate break-in, BTW, and was prepared to murder someone for Nixon to cover the whole thing up). Oh, and he has advocated the murder of federal law enforcement agents, too. Unlike Obama, whom is is known had at WORST a very casual and infrequent professional relationship with Ayers...McCain and Liddy are the best of friends.

So, take your "liberal media bias" illusion off the table. You're dead wrong...YET AGAIN...

McCain is fair game for his Liddy assocition as is Obama for his association with Ayers. That being said, Liddy is a loon. Regardless, the NY Times IS a liberal rag just like the Wall Street Journal is conservative. No doubt about it.

I agree with Frank. I can't stand Olbermann. Hannity is a joke. CNN is the closest I can get to evenhandedness. But, surprisingly, Rachel Maddow is good. I thought it was going to be more of Olbermann, but in a strident lesbian kind of way. But not so. From the Democratic viewpoint, I've enjoyed her show when I've watched it. I actually like Morning Joe in the a.m. I find they have a lot of good interviews and guests on from both parties and good analyses and so forth. I like Tom Brokaw when he comes on. But I really miss Tim Russert when he used to appear a lot on there. And Joe Scarborough is a conservative Republican. See, I'm fair.

Joe Scarborough WAS a conservative. He has moved to the left lately along with MSNBC. Not a liberal by any means but not as good as he once was. I enjoyed his book Rome Was Burnt in a Day.

I like Maddow....and I like Begala. I don't have a problem with liberals in the media that present a clear and concise argument...do it with intelligence...and do it level headed....and don't change the facts or misquote to make a point they otherwise wouldn't be able to.

Maddow accomplishes that. Begala accomplishes that.

Donna Brazile doesn't....she doesn't present clear concise arguments from any position of intelligence...and god forbid, you get her going on racial topics, and she turns into an inner city ho looking for revenge quicker than shit.

Olberman, while at times presenting a clear and concise argument, doesn't present it level-headed...he spits his words, like he's pissed off at the world for making everyone else republicans....and that turns off people who don't think like him, but might otherwise listen to a point he has to make if it weren't for the anger and bile. He comes off like an old school cranky, whining democrat...and when he frequently mis-quotes people he's trying to smear, like Limbaugh and Hannity...he turns his appeal from 'turn off' to 'reprehensible'
