Here in Florida open precincts for early voting has been eight hours a day and on weekends a certain amount of hours. Governor Charlie Christ (Republican) has just changed it to twelve hours a day weekdays and extended hours on weekends due to such heavy voter turnout and long lines. On election day last time I only waited an hour. It's going to be crazy next Tuesday. I've never seen such voter turnout in Florida.

An hour! Where do you people vote. I only had to wait for a machine once in my life. I have gone at different times of the day too. Morning, lunch, and after work. Never a problem.

GO MCCAIN. pick him to win with 285 electorial college votes... all the close battleground states will go to him that our 3 points or less in Obamas favor today. Why three factors.. college kids party dont vote.... white guys always go vote..and some of them were for Hillary... and wont vote for obama...and well... the Regan Democrats will come home to McCain.

Any other election this may be true. BUT Obama has a ground game that is unparalleled and the kids (even if less than expected) will turn out in greater numbers than before. Not sure about the Reagan Democrats, the amnesty plan probably killed that for him. Had he been a true conservative, he would have those voters no problem.

Judge rules Ohio homeless voters may list park benches as addresses

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A federal judge in Ohio has ruled that counties must allow homeless voters to list park benches and other locations that aren't buildings as their addresses.

U.S. District Judge Edmund Sargus also ruled that provisional ballots can't be invalidated because of poll worker errors.

What's the harm in that? Are you saying a homeless person should not be allowed to participate in a free election? Is that person not equal to an affluent one?

Because you cannot verify who is doing the actual voting, or if they are truly eligible to vote in that area, or if they are even a citizen.

Here are the rules (should be):

One (willing to do two) day(s) to vote. First Tuesday (and Monday possibly) in November.

Hours: 6am to 9pm (if in line by 9, you can still vote). Usually polls close at 7, I am extending them to 9. That is a 15 hour window to vote (30 hours if over two days).

Must show valid state ID.

Must register to vote 3 to 4 weeks in advance and meet other eligiblity requirements i.e. residency in that precinct.

Get rid of the machines. Go back to paper ballots.

Finally, my off the wall but I think good idea:

To insure accuracy, I think all polling places in all the precincts should be monitored and run by Independent C.P.A.s along with a Republican, democrat, and any 3rd party poll watcher/election judges. The votes should also be counted by the C.P.A.s.
