With that logic, why even count the votes...let's just use "exit polling" to determine the winners...

I just caught this...Give me a break.

Media outlets are preparing for the possibility that their Election Day surveys could be skewed because of overstated support for Barack Obama, largely because of the enthusiasm of his supporters.

While exit polling is a notoriously inexact science—early exit poll results suggested John Kerry would be elected president in 2004—the introduction of several new variables, ranging from the zeal of Obama’s supporters to his racial background to widespread early voting, is causing concerns among those who charged with conducting the surveys and the networks that will be reporting them.

“It’s in some ways the flip side of non-cooperation,” said one pollster involved in preparations, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, “It’s over-cooperation by certain people.”

Unlike a traditional poll that asks voters who they intend to support, exit polls are taken outside the polling place immediately after voters have cast their ballots. The interviewing begins when the polls open in the morning and lasts throughout the day until shortly before the polls close.

The exit polls are conducted by the National Election Pool (NEP), a consortium of ABC News, Associated Press, CBS News, CNN, Fox News and NBC News formed in 2003.

In theory, exit polls should match election results. But for all the care that goes into conducting accurate exit polls, errant results aren’t completely uncommon. Respected polling analyst Mark Blumenthal found that during the Democratic primaries this year, preliminary exit polls overestimated Obama's strength in 18 of 20 states, by an average error of 7 percentage points, based on leaked early results.

The reason? Obama’s supporters were younger, better educated and often more enthusiastic than Hillary Clinton's, meaning they were more likely to participate in exit polls...

I was trying to say that, then rage and anger overtook me...Man I really hate Obama and his pretty act.

A lot of people feel the same way about Hillary.

I still think the two of them would do best to be on the same ticket. Hell, they agree on just about everything. It would be fair if the one who gets the most votes gets the top of the ticket.

More and more people are going to hate Obama and Clinton because they are attacking each other, which turns their camps against each other. I think it's time they stopped dividing the Party and got together on the ticket. That way all of the Democrats will be happy... black, white, yellow, brown, rich, poor, young, old, educated, and uneducated.

People may hate and despise HRC, but I don't think many think she is not bright or stupid. In fact many believe she is one tough bitch. Look at her in the primaries. She gets beat 11 straight and still fights on.

You can forget about her being Obie's VP... and why should she drop out? He is the one who cannot win, and a much higher % of her supporters say they won't vote for him if he is the nominee, me included. However, most of his supporters will vote for her.

Uno-Up, that brings back memories for me. Those were my exact words -- well, maybe not exact. Dean says it so much better than me  . But there I was in the voting booth today eating my words, like a lot of Hillary supporters, and fairly happy.

I honestly hope he will do great & honorable things with his power, Jana.
I'm going to try to make the best of this situation and just buy stocks. When a Democrat takes over for a Republican, the market rallies 13.7% the first year. Of course nobody talks about years 2-8. I'll be ready to sell on the last day in December of 2009, taking my 14% and RUNNING FOR THE HILLS!!!!

I've not even left work and this thing is looking done, Reminds me of Reagan/Mondale. I reckon it could still be respectable in the end but we'll see.

This election won't be over until a little after 11:00. McCain did make up some ground than say, 2 hours ago. Competitive nonetheless.

Florida is neck and neck. McCain loses this it's all but sealed, and the book will close on McCain..Obama looks to be up in FL by some 200,000. Same goes for Ohio. It's actually a tight race in Arizona and even Texas. But only a small percentage is counted. This will go on for a couple hours.

Fox just called Ohio for Obama. Looks like this is pretty much over. It'll take a miracle at this point for McCain to win.

Listening to a McCain campaign worker now...she is sounding a bit like she is setting the stage for the concession.

Now...how many EV's does Obama have at the end?

How is it that people can vote for Obama when he possibly committed treason? Wasn't there a news story in a major newspaper where he was telling Iraq to not cooperate with the US? Why didn't that get more play?

This is a sad day. It really is. Farewell Democracy. Hello Hitler. Oh, sorry, Heil Hitler.

There's been a lot of stories. I don't know. If he really does all he says he's going to do as president, he's going to piss people off. And I'm not just talking about diehard right-wingers. I just hope no one succeeds in killing him. Certain parts of the country could get absolutely fucking nuts if that happened.

Really? I mean, how so? Nazis have as much in common with Socialists as Democrats do with Aryan Nationalists.

Franken is polling in a dead heat with Norm Coleman right now. THAT would be some classic shit, right there.

Yeah...but not quite the blowout anticipated was it?

Probably not going to get to 60 in the Sentate...and only a 20 seat pickup in the House...when it was said 35-40 would be the level.
