OT - For ScarabGator

Postby Arianddu » Fri Dec 12, 2008 12:15 am

To anyone who's sick of the whole thing, or who doesn't care, just jump out now, and my apologies for taking up your bandwidth.

To everyone else who is still reading - I am not doing this for approval or forgiveness, or to justify myself, or to keep the shit stirred. I don't need anyone to tell me it's ok, that it's cool now; I'd rather people didn't make comments here at all. If you want to take a pot shot at me, I probably deserve it, but please do it by PM or on another thread.

I'm posting this here for one reason only. I badly hurt someone I care about. I got him involved in what was basically a stupid personality clash with someone else, and although he really had no involvement with it, he got hurt by it. And when the shit hit the fan and I tried to make amends, I hurt him a second time.

ScarabGator has been a good friend to me. At a time in my life when I've been hurting and scared, his friendship, care, humour and support have made things easier to bear.

His passion, good humour and love of life take my breath away. His loyalty to his family, his friends and, yes, to his team, leave me feeling humble. And though it sometimes gets lost in the brashness on the boards, he has a gentle chivalry that is priceless to see in today's world. He is someone I respect and wish I could be more like.

And I hurt him - badly - in public. So this post is for one reason only - to apologise in public.

Tim, I'm sorry.

Ari.
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

You haven't hurt him. Wait until the late evening of January 8th, when Florida gets waxed. I will show him a whole new level of emotional pain.

Harrell isn't out of contention. He just isn't going to NY and he isn't going to win. I think he is solid, but that offense they use always produces big numbers for any QB. Tech QB's don't make good in the NFL, as does Florida's. Harrell won't play on Sunday's with any regularity. I think the only 2 QB's who will play in the NFL are McCoy and Bradford. I am really impressed with McCoy. He to me, is the next Brett Favre. Tough as nails and a gunslinger. Tebow won't play a down in the NFL as QB. Good atlete, but not a pro style QB.

College football does not suck. Tons better than that sham that is the NFL. Guys strapping, packing heat, squeezing off rounds in nightclubs, hiring hit men to murder their pregnant girlfriends, and hiding in a trunk 3 states away, or the classic cutting off heads of your ex wife and her friend. No thanks. NFL is sterile, no passion, roids, and overpaid whiners. CFB consists of killer marching bands, passionate fans/students, lots of boozing, hot cheerleaders wearing skimpy little skirts, and players who play their asses off for the love of the game and their school.

I can't tell anymore if you're joking or not, but seriously, what's the big deal? I think most of the the females around here contribute pretty well to the "guy" topics like sports. Girls aren't welcome anymore, or what? :?:

With the major distinction being that very few college players are good enough to play in the NFL. That why the Heisman Trophy has always been a sham. It's supposed to be given to "the best college football player", and more times than not, the "best" college football player isn't even good enough to play special teams in the NFL!

That's not what I was talking about. I'm talking about the behavior of the athletes.

College athletes used to be worse in the 70's. Rape, assault and all kind of shit used to go down in the midwest schools. Now days, there is no place to hide with the all the blogs and media sources around. It's hard to cover stuff up without having at least one person putting it on the internet.
