Edit: He is willing to talk to the Jets.

I'm surprised he even considered the job. Judging by the way he was coming off, he didn't want anything to do with anybody. Reason why he turned the vacancy down was because he wanted to bring in his own personal and GM and the Jets' halted it and are sticking with their guy.

Cowher will be back in '010.

Reports are now is that Cowher and the Jets are in mutual agreement to hear each other out and go from there and have a sit down interview. The Jets are willing to take in Cowher and are using the whatever it takes card to land him. Cowher is re-considering, and developments in this could bloom.

Where are you hearing this? From what I heard on the NFL network yesterday there was no way he would consider a job this year.

It's pretty much the most talked about event at the moment, and plaguing BREAKING NEWS barriers all around ESPN.

Who knows. This is head-coach firing overload today around the NFL. A lot of names out there that can single handidly turn around a franchise with a drop of a dime.

Does any club offer Pete Carroll a gig? Would he take it is the more interesting question.

Pete Carroll's act doesn't fly in the NFL and he's already proven it with two teams! When Carroll was with the Jets and Patriots, I said at that time that his "ra ra" attitude belonged in college, and he certainly proved that his act works very well in college. Carroll is a good guy and always has been. I just hope that he stays in college where he belongs.

does BRETT COME BACK or retire... I am leaning he retires soon...
but before he does he will make an emotional contract with the Packers for one day then offically call it quits so he can be a HOF with the Pack in 2013...

Picks this week.. Falcons, Eagles and Colts and Ravens

Favre is done, and should be! The only thing the guy is remotely consistent at is leading the NFL in interceptions, year after year! It's the only thing he led the NFL in this season!

Biggest end of season collapse quickly comes to mind. But I guess Romo could also win that award.

You have the vision of Ray Charles. The biggest season collapse is Denver and Mikey is unemployed. Brett Favre is a living legend dude, Show the man some respect.

Denver sucks. I thought the Cowboys and Jets at least had talent. Denver had the worst defense in the history of the fucking NFL!!!

I don't blame you there. The Dolphins and Chargers are both VERY beatable teams as will be proven this weekend. They're both one and done teams!

Dolphins, maybe.. but sleeping on San Diego at this point will be a sin. They have been playing Indianapolis very well year after year, have the EXACT same team that beat them last year in the playoffs, and lost on a last second field goal against them earlier this year when they were playing BAD. Now that they are on a winning streak, and by the way they ALWAYS play Indy tough, I think playin in San Diego will prove to be an outstanding finish.

..moreso, the Colts are on a 9 game winning streak, but have only squeaked out losses against some bad teams during that time. Will be an interesting game and either team could pull it out. There won't be no slaughter in this one.

Can someone explain to me Shanahan's fall from grace in Denver? I saw a headline that said after back to back SBs, Shanahan made years of poor decisions or something along those lines. What are some of these decisions?

Anything is possible but I think Cowher is an east coast guy and will probably try to stay a bit closer to the east coast. That said, nobody turns down the Godfather offer!

I'm fairly confident that Indy won't take San Diego lightly, given the fact the Colts were eliminated from the playoffs last season by this very team!

YoungJRNY wrote: Now that they are on a winning streak

Their winning streak is meaningless. They haven't played anyone. San Diego has only beaten one single team over .500 since November 1st (which is half the freakin' season)and that was the VERY mediocre Buccaneers, who were barely one game over .500.

YoungJRNY wrote: There won't be no slaughter in this one.

I never said it would be a "slaughter" dude. Both teams have a good offense, but I don't believe in San Diego, AT ALL. They're a bunch of whiny bitches who spend too much time reading their own press clippings. They're not a good team and very similar to the Cowboys in that they have talent but ZERO leadership.

John, I hope you're right about the Chargers, but I have a very sick feeling in my gut that they are gonna be a thorn in my team's side. For some reason (perhaps the fact that TN has matched up with both teams well of late) I'm not as worried about Indy and (to a lesser degree) Baltimore. But for some weird reason (even though logic dictates otherwise) I fear San Diego.

I tell you one thing I'm happy about- the media (i.e. ESPN) is TOTALLY overlooking TN in the playoffs, and Jeff Fisher tends to do his best work when everyone counts him out.

John (31-18-1) and I (32-16)have been picking games for awhile now, and now would be a great time for everyone to jump in for the playoffs following a formula! We all know the boys are separated from the men in the post-season, so lets change things up a bit, and go by each round by a points system.

EVERYONE JUMP IN!

The AFC and NFC Wild card Rounds are going to be marked as 5 points. (Picking 2 of the 4 games)
The AFC and NFC Divisional Rounds are going to be marked as 8 points. (Picking 2 of the 4 games)
The AFC and NFC Championship Rounds are going to be marked as 13 points. (Picking 1 of the 2 games)
and The Superbowl is going to be marked as 16 points.

Before picking 2 of the 4 games in the first 2 rounds, this is the time to pick the Championship Matches, and the Superbowl Winner.

Whoever gets the Championship teams right, gains an extra 10 points on their total record.
Whoever picks the Superbowl winner gains an additional 25 points on their total record.

My picks for the Conference Championships for the AFC will be:
(2) Pittsburgh Steelers VS (1) Tennessee Titans

My picks for the Conference Championship for the NFC will be:
(6) Philadelphia Eagles VS (2) Carolina Panthers

SUPERBOWL:
Pittsburgh Steelers VS Philadelphia Eagles.

Superbowl Winner
Pittsburgh Steelers

Should be fun.
Good luck lads and gents!
