Rob Dickinson co-writing with Steve

Postby cheekymonkey » Sun Jan 11, 2009 1:39 pm

Rob Dickinson date: 08/07/2008

“The pair talked about his days in the Catherine Wheel, the turmoil surrounding the release of his album, and his new collaboration with ex-Journey singer, Steve Perry.Yes, definitely. Interestingly enough, I just wrote some stuff with Steve Perry from Journey the other day. We were introduced by a good friend of mine. Steve is looking to write with different people so I went over to his house and we wrote a great song together! And we didn’t write a half-ass Catherine Wheel or Journey song, it’s just really cool. The weird thing is that I’ve never been a great collaborator. I find it so awkward. But Steve is open-minded and a huge fan of modern music so it was a pleasure. I’m a huge Journey fan too. “ Will that be for a new Steve Perry solo album? Yeah, that was for him but I’m not sure what the situation is with that and when it will see the light of day. I would love to work with him again soon because we had a great time!

No problem :D . But I was so excited at first too when I read it back in the summer, but six months went by and all we get is greatest hits. I think maybe he just likes to write. It would be great if it happens, but I'm not holding my breath.

And everyone while you're naming the album, don't forget what LLL posted back with the clarification of the blog by the session musician: I will paste it.

POST BY LLL PREVIOUSLY:

This link has now been updated and revised . . . .just letting ya know.

**Updated Friday January 9, 4:50pm**
I have noticed a TON of hits to this site, I appreciate it, but in looking it appears I have sparked a series of discussions on some message boards. A kind person alerted me to some issues with the section about what the band is up to now. So I wanted to take this persons suggestion and clarify some information.

- I do NOT have any proof that Steve Perry will release a solo record of new material this year. (any reference has been removed)

- The "best of collection" will contain no new material. For further information check the web site here. This is a FAN SITE so please keep that in mind as well.

I appreciate the hits to the blog today, and hope you will come back. I apologize if I lead any of you to believe that there was new solo perry material forthcoming. I have NO information, I am casual fan at best, so I apologize once more for "message board wars". Honestly I thought I was the only one that read this blog....

Seeing Sherrie isn't actually carrying a full rack, I don't know if Steve is really into big boobs.

Just because Sherrie didn't doesn't mean he doesn't like to look. Ever see the YT Midnight Special of LTS... :o

That LTS-MS was in 1979. Sherrie came into the picture in '80.

So, does anyone know what Perry was cooking in that pot? Looks like burnt popcorn.

Does he like to cook? I recall seeing another picture of him BBQing on a deck. I think what he was BBQing was on fire............lol

NEWS ??

Postby Gin and Tonic Sky » Mon Jan 12, 2009 9:08 pm

Morning all - I been googling this topic this morning, and I found this newsflash........ dunno if its legit or not......

APNEWZ WIRES : CRAZED JOURNEY FANS ATTIBUTE COSMIC NOISE TO NEW PERRY RELEASE

--LONGBEACH CALIF, SAN FRANCISCO, - JAN 12 2009 [/u][/u]
Space dudes at the 213 th meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Longbeach last week held a session to discuss rather strange and loud cosmic noises detected coming from outerspace. These sounds were detected by a balloon bourne instrument called ARCADE launched by Goddard SpaceCenter. A full description of the discovery by the space dudes is found at the space.com website

http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/090107-aas-loud-cosmic-noise.html

Whilst the Space Dudes were clueless as to the cause of this cosmic noise, several hundered Perry Supporters claim they have an explanation-its the sound of a new Perry album being released in another galaxy.

Just last Wednesday night, San Fransisco police noted a complaint from Journey leadguitarist Neal Schon . Schon reported that the kitchen window to the Schon estate had been broken and a set of keys had been stolen. Looking out into his backyard wooden shed, Schon realised that door had been jimmied open with a crowbar, and the ESCAPE spaceship (the same one on the 1981 album cover) had been stolen.

Schon claims it was Perry who stole it. "Its simple. We had the keys disguised as keys to a shitty old Ford 1977 Pinto Station Wagon . Only Perry and I knew this. We thought who else would want a shitty old rusted out Ford Pinto, depite the fact that Pintos had them sexy looking fake wood panels on them back in those days." Schon also pointed out that the shed had been spraypainted with a slogan "Shes Mine" perhaps another clue.

It has been suggested that the vehicle was stolen to facilitate the production of a new Perry album far away from the pying eyes of EBL's (earth based loons). It is pretty clear Perry would have had to have session musicians with him on board as the ships transporter room only gets powered when the keys to an old disused Gregg Rollie organ are played. Furthermore, back up vocalists are usually employed to allow the doors on the ESCAPE pod to make a schwooshing sound (resembling the sound of the doors on the USS Enterprise).

Steve Smith, ex drummer of the band, was a little more skeptical. Look, we used to take that thing out all the time flying over 7-11's beeming up grape slurpees , crazy rock chicks from the parking lots, and boxes of Hostess cupcakes. Steve just wanted to relive the glory days abit. Steves probably got a little purple mustache and beard right now, has eaten six boxes of cupcakes, and is moaning that the girls in the 7-11 parking lot dont look as good as they used to. I just hope he's careful. Police in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, and Nebraska are still on the lookout for the vehicle. "
