It doesnt matter if its JSS, SP, SA or any other singer or member of Journey. The MR-ADP is way too pushy these days with cracking down on anyone that mentions Arnel in the wrong sentence. Im not an Arnel hater,,, I actually happen to like him, but its sickening to see the extremes from each side, whether its ArnelHater or ArnelLovers,,,,

Well that was my point too, but coming from you, you get the :P instead of the :roll: I got, and that's fine :lol: :wink: .

Melissa, you got the :roll: because of the sarcasm you injected in your response to me. Dan got a :P because he's now a loon-hater, but he responded in a much less sarcastic way.

To be honest, I don't even remember what the title of the thread said, it was so unimportant to me. The idea that this topic was off-limits was what intrigued me and made me respond.

So, please replace my :roll: with this...

Hope you have a great weekend, Mel.

Real mature, thanks :wink: Have a great weekend yourself.

Dont wish eachother a great weekend already. I want a cat fight,, Ive got your fighting-clothes(bras and panties) and your weapons(fluffy pillows) all ready . :D

Ooo That sounds great, B. But can I bring my own bras and panties please? Theyre my luckyundies {if you know what I mean}

OK dear, thats fine with me if Dan and I can sing Open Arms together again.

Oh I'd LOVE to see you guys duet that again! And you can do your signature move again {if you know what I mean}

I will call BS on that :P If anyone said anyting negative about JSS ever, the JSSPD went after them. It's history repeating itself, but with a different initial in it's place :P :lol:

Thats not entirley true. When a story is told that is 100% negative and slams a member, then people may attack one another. But the story in this topic was not intended as a negative one. Thats whats different with Arnels case compared to any other singers of Journey ...

It does feel different for Arnel though. I wasn't a big JSS + Journey fan although I never joined in when he was getting bashed for whatever reason. I do like Arnel in Journey but I am more than a little embarrassed when people rush to pander him all the time especially the thread is factually based around actual news rather than just a general dislike. It's all getting very predictable.

The title appeared negative. I thought that when I saw it too. Oh great, someone here to start trouble. That was my FIRST thought when I saw the title. Whether the story was good or bad is irrelevent. I am not an Arnel lover or hater. I just love Journey's music. But I saw it as a trouble starter. And that wasnt' the only thread that rocked the MR boat yesterday either.

I don't disagree with that either. I just find it interesting that we have been bored on the board, and then "poof" a thread appears to rock the boat. That's just how I saw it. I doubted it had anything to do with the kid glove thing. Just that some love to rock the boat and slam the band whenever given the opportunity. Just like ALWAYS!!! Well, since the SA days anyway.

I didn't see the thread like that. I saw the actual article about a day before and then when I saw the thread at MR my thought was 'I wondered how long it would take for someone to post that'.

The reason I didn't post it...cheerleaders.

Michael is a SUPER nice guy and doesn't go out of his way to hurt anyone. We've had threads discussing SP's past issues, Neal's wives, etc. Arnel is part of Journey now, and as such, his past is a topic of discussion. The fact that he has overcome sooo much to get where he is is a testament to his resolve, and as such should be commended. But it also shows he's not the innocent golden boy that the Jrny media machine has tried to make him seem. Those of you that are his fans feel protective of him, just as us loons cringe every time someone (read: YOU, SJ! :P ) trashes him. There's nothing wrong with that. But deleting the thread wasn't the answer. JMHO.

HOLY CRAP!! I never knew that titling a thread would cause such a sh*t storm.
I personally found nothing wrong with the title of thread.Otherwise, I wouldn't have titled it what I did.
Even the title of the thread at the original site is " JOURNEY Singer Says He Lost Nearly Everything To Drugs"
There was no slander in the title of the thread.The guy himself said he WAS addicted to drugs,therefore making it FACT.He said so himself.

It all boils down to what Donna said.It's really up to how someone interprets it.
It is those that hold these people in such high regard,almost making it "hero worship", which at this point in my life, I find unhealthy.
I admit, that I have been guilty of the same,when I was a kid.This is what's wrong with people that hold those in the public eye in such high regard.
They are people. They are no better then you or me.They merely have a gift that many of us don't have, that we all respect.

I don't know Arnel Pineda,I have never meet the guy,I only know about him from what I read in the media (including here at MR).
As Donna said,I find it interesting that the Journey PR machine has made all of these guys, look like choir boys, and anyone not "in the know" would think that Mr Pineda (who's story is quite inspiring),is an innocent cherub faced vocalist that got a lucky break (which for the most part is also fact).
Would it have been any different if the title of the thread was"Arnel Admits Drug Addiction ?"

I don't regret titling the thread what I did.It is fact, and it is what it is.The title has been changed,and anyone that wants to view it, can do so.
It wasn't intended to be some kind of "Ha-ha,Arnel is a drugie" as SJ pointed out.It was what it was.
A statement that the guy himself admitted too.

Easy up,folks it's no big deal.

I have been around since this site was the "AOR/Hard Rock Hotspot, and I lurk more then I participate ( as you can see by my post count), and this is exactly the reason why I do so.You become subject to misinterpretation,and flaming that frankly, I'd prefer to not be subject to. Participating in some of these forums will drive you nuts.I chime in on threads, or post a thread that I find interesting.I have become friends in "real life", with many that participate here, and those that no longer participate here as well,and I don't involve myself in the personal issues that are between some of them.
I sort of "fly under the radar" when it comes to that stuff, and I think I'll continue to do so.

Oh and BTW~thanks Donna and SJ both for the really nice words.
I can say personally that both of these folks have never been anything but nice to me, especially Donna, who has supported me in my various musical endeavours in the Mid Atlantic area.

I am not a cheerleader. I am talking from my past on MR and what I have witnessed. THAT is why there is mistrust with the title and that is why it was taken that way. The history of the board and the past history with the "vets".

Guess so, cause I am no cheerleader. I was in the marching band, remember :P I have never been an Arnel cheerleader and never will be. My reasons for continuing to follow the band have nothing to do with him or any other member. I love the music and the friends I have found surrounding it, period.

FF, re your sentence up above, that doesn't make sense. Arnel's site had all the articles and interviews where he has mentioned past drug problems and they are the ultimate cheerleaders. I didn't see where really anyone disliked the article, just some of us the title.

Go back to the second post of the thread onwards and see it get shot down in flames. It made sense to me.

I doubted it had anything to do with the kid glove thing. Just that some love to rock the boat and slam the band whenever given the opportunity. Just like ALWAYS!!! Well, since the SA days anyway.

I dare you to say that out loud 10 times and fast ! :lol: Even Stevew2 can try it if he likes :wink:

Did you like that :P :lol: I actually spelled them right in the right context too! Rare for me :P

Perhaps the person responsible could also edit Madsplash's comments for idiocy?

Saint John wrote:I don't think the thread should be deleted, but the way it was originally worded sure seemed to try and take the focus off of where Arnel is now and digress to where he was then. It seemed like neither a celebration of his years-long triumph over past vices nor something that was being posted as stumbled upon news. To me, it had the tone of "Ha ha, Arnel used to be a fuckin' druggie." And that's what I think has people a little unnerved. But having met Michael this seems very out of character. Perhaps I'm simply misinterpreting his intentions.

Ooo That sounds great, B. But can I bring my own bras and panties please? Theyre my luckyundies {if you know what I mean}

OK dear, thats fine with me if donnaplease is ok with it.

No problemo. And in classic WWE fashion, Melissa and I will turn the tables and join forces to defeat the evil terrorist! :wink:
