Well, I don't know for sure. I just emailed JC about the time revelation was certified platinum for congrats, told him about our new baby coming in July, and told him to check out my new tune with John Spinks but then the email was returned saying something like "Your email address was rejected by the addressee's server" or something like that. Oh well....If that's the case I see it as his loss, though I still think he's a cool dude.

Jeremy, that could have been because he or his email provider has his spam preferences set too high, and something in your email sent up a flag to the software. Most current programs give you the option to look at it before rejecting, but if it hasn't been updated in the last year or so, something may have triggered it, especially if he had put together a 'white list' and didn't include your addy.

Are y'all seriously sitting here troubleshooting Cain's email?

Pretty sad huh. Next thing you know I'll be analyzing why Journey's management doesn't ask it's band members to skip performances before the big game. Sad, really.

You know it could be Cain singing. His voice is around 95% of Perry's.

Yeah, jokers, so like I said, no big deal!

Could have been any number of things. I don't fault Cain for it, but again, if so, his loss.

Now back to the original topic at hand?

It sounds like Perry not being self-conscious about being "PERRY." I'd be about 95% it's Perry. But there's parts that definitely DON'T sound like Perry.

Could it be Mickey? It sure sounds like Mickey on the choruses. Could this have been something done w/Mickey during the post Trial By Fire auditions?

Not sure. I cannot see it being a demo during the Frontiers sessions. The sounds are NOT early 80's here.

I would email Mr Cain but he set his email preferences to return anything coming from my email server, so I guess it will remain without a definitive answer.

Dude that is exactly what I was thinking. Mikey Thomas ! But I know for sure this is Perry. The reason it doesnt sound so Perryish is because he is singing with inflections that are not common to him. No whoa a whoa's etc. Maybe they were writing this with someone else in mind in the way that Paul McCartney wrote Come and Get it for Badfinger and told them, " record it just like this and dont change a thing and you will have a hit." He was right too ! ?

I am positive that is Perry. NO ONES upper register sounds like his.

Cain is blocking your emails ? Really ? What a dick !

I don't know what's going on with JC, really. I just threw that out there.

But yeah, really sounds like Mickey. Until the chorus, I was convinced it was Perry but it just doesn't sound ANYTHING like him on a few lines.

Its all in the delivery. Perry has a very distinct way of beginning and ending a line, regardless of the register he's singing in. I doubt he could change it even if he tried, its just the way the guy's mouth, nose, and throat work, hell even his breathing after a line is distinctive. This singer just doesn't do it.

My 2 cents. The first one (We All Want To Be Loved) is not SP. Don't think it's Mickey Thomas. Sounds like Chalfant to me. The second one (Nothing But A Heartache) is definitely SP.

Boy is that hard to call. Almost sounds like two different singers Mecca style. Song is actually pretty decent, shame dreck like Winds of Freedom gets publicly aired before this.

LOL...I could give it to you but I don't know if he's taking calls right now. Anyway, can't think of anyone other than you and Ms Poon that would know Mr P's whereabouts during this time.

Good to hear from you Lora. Hope you have much more to discuss in the next year.

Amen, but if it isn't Perry (still not sure about that)...who the hell is it? I think it's a cool song regardless. So about those demos Laura...when you gonna spill some beans in here? I wish Perry would get his butt in gear and show us some love (with new songs Stevew2...calm down!).

Nothing But a Heartache is definitely Perry. No way to hide that vocal tone.

We All Want To Be Loved is much harder, however. If the song dates to the early 90s, Cain was known to have some demo singers here and there. There is a version of I Wish That I Was There (written for Bad English) with Los Angeles area demo singer Mark Free (ex King Kobra, Signal, Unruly Child) on vocals. This definitely is not Free, nor is it Chalfant, but I'd place money on it being another demo singer.
My guess, having narrowed it down to demo singers is Gene Miller is the guy on vocals. Miller did vocals on a cd of demos released about 1997ish under the name of Fake ID and was another one of those high tenors. I still have some of the mp3 soundbytes and the vocal tone is pretty darn close. I'd hard to pin down a 100% identification based on a few songs, but cutting out the obvious choices (Perry, Chalfant, Jeremey, etc) and narrowing it down to demo singers, I'll call it for Gene Miller.
