NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

The best singer I've seen come out of these types of programs is Leona Lewis. She was head and shoulders above the competition, and was pretty much anointed the winner after the third week. The American version lost all credibility in Season 3 when Jasmine Trias made it to the top three. I just couldn't take it seriously after that fiasco.

Thanks Jana. That was just a rehearsal, so it's pretty rough. You guys need to be our myspace buds. We've got like 2 or something...

Sorry to take over the thread here, it's rare that I get a kudo, so I'm basically making the most of it!

We get American Idol and I've been watching this season. And I have enjoyed many of the performances.
This week's show airs on Thursday and Friday so I haven't seen this week's performances yet.

But I think Adam is an obvious Musical Theatre performer. I see him starring on Broadway and the West End of London etc rather than on MTV and doing solo gigs. He should go straight into "We Will Rock You" for starters.

Alison Iraheta blew me away last week when she sang "Alone" - great voice for one so young.

I have to admit that Tatiana girl drove me just a little bit crazy.

Was that the young girl from Hawaii that Simon made cry? Then every Pacific Islander on the planet dialed in and voted for her?

Hmmm...I'm just not sold on Leona Lewis either. :?

My daughter's addicted to AI and said that the Adam kid apparently has photos of himself up cross dressing and kissing some guy. That's cool, but

Well Daughtry did very well last year. I think he had the top selling album of the year of something.
Hicks... I have no idea. Never heard another thing from him and I just couldn't believe when that guy won.
The other guy, the beatbox guy, lives near me. He plays in local clubs up here, though I haven't seen him.
I was very surprised that his album didn't do better. It was actually a pretty decent record. I guess his
label dropped him... Dang, whatsisname? I totally forget now... blonde kid, beat boxxer, good singer.... uh, brain lapse... Blake Lewis!

I was watching McPhee sing "The Prayer" with Andrea Bocelli on "David Foster and friends". The poor girl dropped the last note, restarted it and dropped it again while Andrea didn't break the note at all. She was so out of her element, it was sad.

I just read that Daughtry has finished recording their second album... not sure when it's coming out, but I'm guessing it will do nearly as well as their first. Hicks was dropped by his record label (already!).

Who knows? Most of the time she looks and acts higher than a fucking kite. Maybe she took too many Oxycontin and fell down a flight of stairs, and then got the makeup crew to cover it up? I think her intoxicated state makes the show even better, especially when Simon fucks with her mind. I say give her a handful of Oxy about an hour before each show, and it will drive the ratings higher.

I'm surprised she got dropped, because she could actually sing well - better than the person who beat her out. But her drama would have made a producer's life a living hell, not to mention the studio musicians who would have to work with her.

I have a few sites actually:

my own stuff is at the link in my sig.

So it WAS the laughy gal. Wow, I couldn't believe she got through the audition process. She gave me the willies. Just way too "off". Those people must have to come through metal detectors and stuff. I mean, Simon (though I usually agree with him) has pissed of SO many people... the security there must be huge.
