Damn straight he should have gone home. His performances the previous evening weren't even memorable! Danny at least did well until the brutal end.

Damned judges totally WASTED their "save" vote on that guy, who I can't even remember his name (was it Matt?), so I keep calling "Justin Timberfake". Totally fits him, too. :P They should have held out and saved the vote for Allison, since she so undeservedly kept ending up in the bottom 3. Damned morons!

These teenaged, teeny bopper, balling little girls keep voting for the cute guy, Kris. I tell you, that guy isn't cute enough to want me to keep him around for a minute longer... Boring!

I'm as pissed as I was when they canned Chris Daughtry. :x I hope that Allison kicks their asses and blows them all out of the water with her album.

Debbie

I'm sure Allison will have a great career, although she is kind of young (but then again, Avril Lavinge was about her age when she broke into the music biz.) I can picture Allison doing stuff similar to Heart. I think if she had done a Heart song, she wouldn't have gotten voted off, even though I thought she did a heck of a job on the Joplin song. Kris is alright, but he would be better in a boy band. Honestly, I could see Danny doing Christian Contemporary in a few years. As for Adam, I didn't like him at first, but he grew on me. The man has some pipes, no doubt about that. He's a pure rocker and would be great in any of the hair metal bands of the 80's. He just seems to have that voice and the look.

I recorded IDOL tonight while watching it and I heard Slash say he is doing a solo album and all the major rock lead singers will be on each track with him on the album.
It caused me to wonder, WHICH ONES..........? :D

Maybe that is some of the "hot stuff" Steve Perry was working on that Randy Jackson referred to a few months ago?

As for ex-Journeyman Steve Perry, "He's doing his thing," says Randy Jackson. "Steve's fine. I actually had lunch with him about a month ago. He's working on hot stuff, too."

SP has been known to collaborate with others on their albums. It just struck me that Randy Jackson is an Idol Judge, Randy Jackson has lunch with Perry who is "working on hot stuff," and now Slash shows up on Idol talking about his new solo album with "major rock lead singers" sharing the tracks with him. What kind of album could Slash have with "major rock lead singers" and NOT have SMFP??? I just have that feeling you know. I wasn't surprised that Madsplash posted about American Idol without even responding to my quote about Slash. Maybe I'm fishing around just a little too close to reality, huh Madsplash? Slash was very guarded about talking about his album too, just dropped a little orchestrated hint. Well, food for thought on a Thursday afternoon......... Enjoy people. :D :D

I thought for sure Kris was going to go last night. Didn't think Allison would go. I say it will be down to Danny and Adam and Danny will win this.

Judging by the stupidity I'm starting to see, yeah, it will probably be Danny, although Kris seems to just skate by without anyone noticing. What it usually comes down to is whoever sings the ultra sappy ballad that the 'winner' gets to include on their first album better.

Danny would make a good pageant king. He will do good at kissing babies and walking in parades while Adam is cutting a killer rock album and planning a tour.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what they come up with for the song this year. Who knows, in anticipation of Adam winning (which he should) maybe they have someone writing something right now that's a bit more tailored to his style. To tell you the truth, I don't really care if he wins or not - I'll buy his stuff (and maybe Allison's if she does something) regardless - but not any of the others.

I don't get the Kris thing at all either. He must be an attractive male or something (I wouldn't know since I'm not gay), because his vocals are nothing to write home about. He is totally forgettable if you ask me. I cannot even name one song that he has sung. What is it about him that gets the votes??? His face screams cover of 17 Magazine. (Ohhhh.... okay now I get it. Never underestimate the tween vote. Doh! They probably already moved on from David Archawhateverthefuckhisnamewas.)

I do remember one of Danny's songs now... but for all the wrong reasons.

I can remember at least three of Adam's songs because he blew them out of the park. He's got the unpredictable factor and the glamrock style that sells rock music by the shitload (i.e. Billy Idol, Freddie Mercury, Steven Tyler, Jon Bon Jovi, Steve Perry). All the Idol judges know it... even Slash sees it. I believe he wouldn't have been there if Adam wasn't a contestant. I probably wouldn't be watching it either.

Adam should win... but you never know.

I recall seeing somewhere some fan (i.e., teen girl) reactions of the moment that they announced that Cook had won over Archuletta... Whole groups of them were wearing homemade "David Archuletta" t-shirts screaming and balling their eyes out! It was totally sick and scary that our teens are acting like that. :?

When I was that age, it was all about being totally cool and not giddy, but I guess that High School Musical and Hannah Montana has ruined it for that generation. A friend of ours has a daughter who is 17 and she and her friend act as if they are 10. At that age, I was already passing for an adult and going to bars/clubs. 8)

Allison is proof that the Jasmine Trias syndrome has reared it's ugly head once again. It's not about Talent, it's a popularity contest. That's why you would never see a Susan Boyle or Paul Potts succeed on this type of show here in the states. Here in the colonies, image is everything.
As always, It will sort itself out in a few years. The true talents will still be singing while the popularity contest winners will be doing porn in the San Fernando Valley.

Adam is so far out of the other contestants league that they should just end it now and crown him the winner. He is incredible. I watched him over and over and was just in awe of this talent. He is already a rock star in my opinion.

You've got a good point. I thought the teen girls would like Adam (he is handsome and sexy) and maybe hope they could change his sexual preference? He's single anyway and Chris just got married 3 months before the show started so he's off the market.

Those teenage girls have a lot to answer for.

They could just give Kris the title with their lustful thoughts.

Although I think Alison has a great voice, I think it was obvious she would not make the final because of the number of times she has been in the bottom two.
She was in my top three, so that's one down, two left. [Adam & Danny]

I also think she should have left the Joplin stuff for her album. She should have chosen something that the younger voters would like to hear. I have no idea what that might be - but I think her song went way over the kids heads - and the kids are the ones who are multiple voting.

I thought both Danny and Kris were dreadful this week.
Far too much screeching and screaming for my liking.

Adam "never mind the tongue" Lambert just stole the show again.

I know. I've GOT to come out of my shell. ;-)

That Joplin song man, was crazy!! The runs that child did was leagues above anything on the radio right now. She's distinctive, ballsy and a true artist.

The previous week when she did "Someone To Watch Over Me", she'd never even heard the song. She definitely rocks!

Really? (about Janis, I mean). I'd be interested to know why you think that (I think you're a fine singer and respect your insight).

As for Allison, I think she has a future (but she needs to learn how to not put a 'H' in front of her words - like in this - the word is 'NO', not 'HO' )

Interesting comments. I don't think Kris Allen should be up there either. He's very humble and is genuinely surprised at the success so far. But I tell what he's really got going for him - the entire state of Arkansas.

Yesterday was huge. He came home and hit every single radio station & tv station (FOX first, of course). He played an outdoor amph that was packed as much as any major band has ever seen. All the streets are lined with Moms & kids holding 'Kick Awesome' signs and everyone is wearing the same on tshirts. I40 between LR & Conway is loaded with signs and every car is painted with his name. Oh yeah, every business window is painted about him too. He rolls into Conway with a full AI Escalade Limo motocade & police escort, where the entire downtown has been blocked off since Thursday. Once again, Moms & kids have every street lined with signs & shirts, and you name it. People begin pouring into Simon Park at noon for a three song acoustic set @ 6. There's a short parade that would usually take about 10 mins. This took 40. By 6, there's an estimated 20k in downtown. All politicians were there with 'keys & proclamations', and all his aunts, uncles, and cousins were there signing autographs. It was absolutely nuts. He was mobbed by everyone. All day yesterday looked like some old Beatles video.

That was just yesterday.

For the past 2 months, every church, civic group, and local college have been holding watch parties and voting sessions. It's been estimated that on any given Tues night, several million votes are coming from central Arkansas alone.

Now then, I know this happens with every contestant to some extent, but as the field dwindles, it gets heavier and heavier. And what's also probably happening is that this little guy is picking up every Mom & kid across the country too.

I think Adam is the best performer. I think Danny has the strongest voice. But Kris Allen is truly an artist and he's from small town anywhere - the shy little boy next door. That's what makes him so likeable.

(Btw, you don't have to be gay to notice if someone is cute/good-looking, or not.)

They do this every year - the top 3 get to go home and then they televise the whole thing for each of them. Not taking anything away from Kris, but I'm sure the homecoming for the other 2 will be equally exciting (but maybe not the 'small-town' type of excitement - I don't know where Danny is from but Adam's home is San Francisco, I believe).

This is the very point. America can relate to him, because he is 'small-town'. Just like a Mellencamp mid-west thing, or a Springsteen working man thing. Every mom & kid looks at Kris Allen and sees their son or the kid next door. I think that's where he gets all his votes from. And if you've got that heartland support, you don't have to be the best singer.

Other singers from major metropolitan areas may get just as big of a showing when they do their homecomings, but they probably don't get the same level of committment of consistent voting every tues night.

I think Janis just shouted and screamed. No technique just a noise - to my ears anyway. I know the tone of a voice is a personal taste but I just think she sounded raucous and horrid.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzNEgcqWDG4

I hate screamers. Don't like Planty when he does it either.
I like to hear beauty, soul, a bit of skillful vibrato and control and all I hear from old Janis is a bloody horrible noise

Sorry Janis fans.
I know others will think the song on this link is soulful etc but to me it's just someone screaming. And to my ears it's very unpleasant.
I can't explain - see, Rod Stewart has a raucous voice like Janis, but I think he can sing. When he was in the Faces I thought his gravelly sound was fab.
She just makes my ears cringe.

And Alison on Idol to me is very Joplinesque but I think she sings rather than shrieks.................if that makes sense.

I think Janis just shouted and screamed. No technique just a noise - to my ears anyway. I know the tone of a voice is a personal taste but I just think she sounded raucous and horrid.

Thanks Susie. I like some of Janis' songs but definitely not that clip.

I wonder if this is the week we will finally hear some Queen from Adam (it's 2 songs - judges' pick and contestants pick). Adam has listed Freddie as one of his influences, and the judges are always saying how he fits the glam-rock mold so well. Should be interesting to see what they pick.
