I've never even so much as purchased a solo album by the guy. My interest in him as an artist is strictly within Journey. His other stuff pretty much sucks. Within Journey I have always maintained that from 1981-1983 they were the greatest band in history.

That number would be zero. They've dealt with this shit for years. Besides, he's not going to put even a minor dent in their touring and/or album sales. They can both be successful concurrently.

Dammit Dan....I had 50 bucks riding on the fact that you would comment about me being unstable.

Crap you are costing me money!!

It just would be really nice to hear updates once and blue moon about whats going on with him musically.

I think we can all agree that he has updated us from time to time that nothing is going on. When there was (i.e. Behind the Music, Re-Releases, etc) he made statements.

Lot's of musicians work on things and keep the lid on until it's time. Especially if he has no deal or distribution yet. In the old days, people accepted that "working on something" meant 6 months or a year away. Now, it's like it has to be out by Tuesday or people want further information. I'd say it's a fair bet that if he has not released anything for the past 13 years or so, he probably wasn't working on much. So what's the update going to be? And now that he may be working on something, it's a matter of timing and if that release ever will see the light of day. PR is a ramp up thing. I don't know. I understand the desire to know things. I don't understand the expectation.

There is no expectation, you took my comment way out of context. All I was saying is most artists keep their fans informed and keep them in the loop even if there not technically "doing" anything. A birthday announcement once a year on the fan asylum website i would say is not much of an update.

good point D, and I agree. But for the guy to have millions of fans and just kind of 'hide' from them is lame. Sorry, I just think it is and I can't believe his hardcore fans don't feel that. I'm a big fan of the guy and I want to hear from him again. But the constant rumors and his sort of feeding into those just bugs the crap out of me and is frustrating to me as a fan. For the past 12 years, Perry's been nothing but a disappointment. Wish I was wrong, but that's how it's been as a fan.
It's like sports. You have a team that was once great and they just can't seem to get it done, season after season. Finally, you give up on them.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

It all brings me back to my question. Has he lost his voice to the point where it's bad and not up to par. Will it hurt his legacy. 13 or 14 years of who i believe walks on water is hard to endure. I don't know what to say.

But it's just a small minority feeling this way, right? Casual fans know nothing of most of these rumors and what not. I think this is the first big rumor that actually made it to multiple publications. The other one's have been just us loons trying to read too much into everything.

For me as a huge fan for a long time it just seems like he sort of shuts his fans out of his life. I mean all we get really is birthday message once a year. I kind of understand a little bit when the others in the band were saying steve would shut them out and pretty much do his own thing.

It won't hurt his legacy. How many times do you hear Classic Journey on the radio every day. That's what people will remember. It's not about his voice now but that period of time between 81-83 when Journey could do no wrong.
The nucleus of Schon, Perry and Cain (and possibly Rolie) will always be the center piece of the Band's history.

LOL, never! My Flames have been knocked out in the first round of the NHL playoffs 4 years running now......but I'm still a fan. Sorry Bry, but I'd be the last person to agree with you that he hides from his fans. :D I didn't see him as feeding into the rumor......he came right out and quashed it. He has no control over something like that. I'm a hardcore fan, but I don't get frustrated and blame him everytime a rumor comes up......that's the part I can't understand I guess. Not saying you do either Bry. Mind you, my whole musical word doesn't revolve around waiting for Perry to put something out, my other two vocalists have been keeping me plenty entertained, singing their butts off lately. Oh well, it's all good, we all have our opinions. :)

Besides if it were true, that would be my trifecta.....all 3 of my fave vocalists performing live in the same year. I would quite possibly need a stretcher.

What more do you want from the man? He doesn't owe us anything....he has give us so much over the years with his music. He deserves to have a life and live it how he see's fit to and if that means not keeping us up to date on every thing he does every minute of the day or putting out new music then that's okay by me. Steve could have ignored this hoax and said to hell with clearing up another rumor but he didn't. He cared enough about his fans to set things right. 8) :D
