What more do you want from the man? He doesn't owe us anything....he has give us so much over the years with his music. He deserves to have a life and live it how he see's fit to and if that means not keeping us up to date on every thing he does every minute of the day or putting out new music then that's okay by me. Steve could have ignored this hoax and said to hell with clearing up another rumor but he didn't. He cared enough about his fans to set things right. 8) :D

Hmmmm out of sight but not out of heart...we still love him & he still loves us!
Kudos to Steve Perry for dismissing the rumor.

why doesn't he just say he is done? that would be a lot easier, and it would clean up this message board

Just a little bit more, please. No one's asking the man for his daily itinerary, just a little line every now and then. Just a little note saying he's fine and acknowledging the fans that ARE still there. After all, when you think about it, this is an awful lot of falderah and fiddle-dee-dee for someone who really hasn't done anything in 15 or so yrs. It's amazing that anyone really still cares at all. :?

Publicity stunt? Leak an article to test the waters then publish a retraction?

If not, how stupid can the promoter be than to make this kind of a slip up? How does he get to announce this without basis in truth?

I'm in agreement it was a private shindig not for public consumption. At risk of keeping loons in a state of salivation, I'll bet its still on.

Timberlake brought sexy back, but who in the fuck can bring Perry back?

Sexy was gone, now it's back.

Perry was gone, now he's still gone.

What kind of news is this shit? "No, Steve Perry will not be singing." DOH! We already knew that. It's a worse bet than waiting for Eddie to come out of rehab so you can go see Van fucking Halen. It sucks being a fan of a singer who quit singing. He's too busy out pimping in his new pimp jacket.

That said, I would still take the next plane out of Saint Louis if he did decide to sing somewhere.

And so everybody packed their stuff, went home, and I'm hearing that we're gonna be off for maybe a couple months, three months, six months, whatever—but it turned out to be close to eight to ten years."

"No—I didn't think Journey was done. We actually never even quit. It wasn't like we called each other and went, 'Okay, this is history, nice knowin' ya.' It was just sort of left at a hiatus. And it was all based around Steve giving us a call and saying 'Okay, I'm fine now, I'm ready to go.' And it just didn't happen."

"I have tried to talk to him, numerous times. And he will not allow me to have his number. Everything has to go through lawyers and management. And that is sort of a drag. You'd think that after a while, everybody would grow up and be able to talk, one on one. But it just hasn't happened. So, because of his wishes, that's the way things go down."

Quotes from Neal Schon

Sadly, the fans are still waiting....stuff still goes through lawyers and management...it still comes down to Perry's wishes....so after more than 20 years, what else is new?

Thank GOD I didn't visit this place for a couple of days. I would have gotten NOTHING done at work!

What a huge letdown. Makes you wonder what every misfire does to this guy's desire to perform.

Can it be that maybe he's just like you and i? has it ever crossed your mind that the man has plenty of doubts and lots of hope and a pocketful of don't knows. the band didn't even know when he was singing he had already walked a few miles down the road away from them. hopefully people can all get to the place where you can at least say "thank you" to steve for being in their lives for those years and making it a bit better and then let him keep going to wherever it is he feels he has to be. "thanks steve" for sharing your life with all on that stage and thanks for remembering we are your faithful lifelong fans who wish you the best in life's endeavors. as he said last night when he was speaking to the faithful fans who continue to believe in him even when he's doubting himself that the fans continue to give him reason to hope. "thanks" for all it is you try to do, all it is you have done and treasure the dreams you still have to dream.

Let's say for a minute that this is the case... either it's on as a private gig, or there's no show at all - how much you wanna bet the really insane ones show up anyway, ya know, just in case.  In all honesty, it wouldn't surpise me in the very least.

Nasty! Where is all the bitterness coming from from you two. You would think the man pissed in your cornflakes this morning the way you're ragging on him. Show was never booked, it was a hoax. He didn't have to come out and say anything. Hell, I thought it was a nice gesture. :?

good point D, and I agree. But for the guy to have millions of fans and just kind of 'hide' from them is lame. Sorry, I just think it is and I can't believe his hardcore fans don't feel that. I'm a big fan of the guy and I want to hear from him again. But the constant rumors and his sort of feeding into those just bugs the crap out of me and is frustrating to me as a fan. For the past 12 years, Perry's been nothing but a disappointment. Wish I was wrong, but that's how it's been as a fan.
It's like sports. You have a team that was once great and they just can't seem to get it done, season after season. Finally, you give up on them.

LOL, never! My Flames have been knocked out in the first round of the NHL playoffs 4 years running now......but I'm still a fan. Sorry Bry, but I'd be the last person to agree with you that he hides from his fans. :D I didn't see him as feeding into the rumor......he came right out and quashed it. He has no control over something like that. I'm a hardcore fan, but I don't get frustrated and blame him everytime a rumor comes up......that's the part I can't understand I guess. Not saying you do either Bry. Mind you, my whole musical word doesn't revolve around waiting for Perry to put something out, my other two vocalists have been keeping me plenty entertained, singing their butts off lately. Oh well, it's all good, we all have our opinions. :)

Besides if it were true, that would be my trifecta.....all 3 of my fave vocalists performing live in the same year. I would quite possibly need a stretcher.

No, I know he PROBABLY didn't start the rumours and that he came out to say it was a hoax- which was mighty white of him. But, it's just another disappointment with Steve Perry in the heading. Somebody posted here "Why doesn't he just come out and say he's done?". I agree with that. Or, why doesn't he come out and say "Hey, I am working on new sh*t that'll be out next year. Madsplash is right and, oh yes, Arnel does kick ass".

Don't know why it frustrates me so much. Probably cuz the guy was a childhood hero and it sucks that he's just pretty much vanished without a trace. Feels like a plotline from "Eddie and the Cruisers". In that movie, didn't the singer just vanish? Maybe Perry should fake his own death. Maybe that'd unite the fans and get them off his back. Or maybe he could join the witness protection program. Or maybe, he should just put out an album already.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I think everyone in this thread, the "perry is going to sing" thread, and NOW the "where there is smoke" thread all need to get outta here, go play Bejeweled or watch a movie or get some work done. Myself included. Way too much time has already been spent on yet another goofy rumor, and it's sad.

How many threads are there going to be about this by the end of the day? My bet is another 4-5.

Diamond Mine is a great one too!

I should start a topic of "Better wastes of time than spending 2 days freaking out over another Perry rumor."

-Wash the dog
-For better entertainment, wash the cat
-Be like Steve Perry and beat up the cat
-Play Bejeweled/Diamond Mine/Jewel Quest/insert game of choice
-Paint your nails alternating colors
-Count the carpet fibers in your office
-Dye the hair on your arms to match your favorite team's colors
-Watch every season of The Golden Girls on dvd. Be sure to invite Saint John.
-Sniff magic markers
-Organize a treasure hunt
-If you live in an apartment, go switch all the names/apartment #s on the mailboxes, hide in a shrub and wait for the mailman.
(don't let him see you laughing. they carry pepper spray)
-giftwrap the neighbor's terrier
(do this one in conjunction with the above, and maybe the dog will attack the already disgruntled mail guy - a twofer!)
-learn to post to YouTube so we can all see the result of the above

Feel free to add your own time wasters. 8)

Spot on! Totally accurate. There's a double standard here. Cain has taken more ridicule (even excluding SteveW2 comments) than anybody else and there's no problem. Fortunately they have people like me to put people in place here. By the way, I forgot to mention the other day, happy one year anniversary to myself for being an MR poster.
