If that same comment was about about Neal, Jon, Azoff or Lori Carpenter it would have been ignored. Whether you're willing to admit it or not, you know deep down that Perry has a fanbase that would make Sigmund Freud blow his fucking brains out.

Spot on! Totally accurate. There's a double standard here. Cain has taken more ridicule (even excluding SteveW2 comments) than anybody else and there's no problem. Fortunately they have people like me to put people in place here. By the way, I forgot to mention the other day, happy one year anniversary to myself for being an MR poster.

Teetoe's back.

Has it been only ONE year?!?!?!
It seems like ten...minus the day you went missing which was 7, but seemed
like 2 seconds.....so, it's been a year?!?!?!?
Happy Anniversary....

Wow … I have to say I don’t know where all this antagonism towards Kathy comes from. I believe I have mentioned that I used to be a member of the old Perryville SP/board a few times in passing. Although never a poster of high volume (or part of the inner circle), I was frequently around the forum before, during, and after all the excitement surrounding the PV ladies’ (chance) meeting of SP at the HWOF star in the summer of ‘06.

As I understood it, Perryfest is an annual weekend get-together organized by Kathy and her Mods on the boards. It was only shortly after I joined that discussions began circulating about the next Perryfest being held in LA on such a date, and that they were going to go see the Journey “Star” (the band having been honored in ’05). All PV members were invited, but I guess only the ladies that have known each other for a while on the boards actually made plans to show up together. I remember there was a send-off on the messageboard, with me privately thinking “wouldn’t it be something, with them going to LA, and Lora&Cyndy being friends and contributors on PV, might ask SP to show up, too.” Remember, Kathy does a lot of good things in the name of StevePerry, not only in tirelessly keeping up a fan website filled with his stories, photos, and music, but she also gathers funds and sends a sizeable donation check each year to Make-a-Wish, one of Steve’s (as I understand it) chosen charitable organizations.

Next thing I knew, PV was lit up with news that SP “surprised” the ladies, walking up to them (in a silver&gray suit) as they were standing at the Journey Star. As you can imagine, we were inundated with photos, videos, blow-by-blow accounts from each of the lucky ladies for weeks afterward. Of course, this news event spread across other Journey fan sites, so naturally, must have been a feather on Kathy’s cap that SP bestowed the honor of his presence on her PV ladies.

Admittedly, I have no idea what Kathy might have said to people in private, but I can state unequivocally that –on the boards—the SP meeting was represented to us as a complete shock and surprise. Believe me, people were grilling the ladies on whether this meeting was planned, and every one of them (including Kathy) said they had no idea that Steve was going to walk up to them at the star. You know, I think we all just assumed that it was through the efforts of Lora&Cyndy, as we got to know the 2 quite well on the board.

One more thing I’d like to add in Kathy’s defense is that, myself being hooked on SP and his story/music, at one time I scoured all the SP sites and fan boards that are out there to read/join, and hers was the best one by far (imo). Kathy and her board members get a bad rap. The posters were normal people, mostly down-to-earth, kept it clean, and there was absolutely no anguish toward SP, ever, that I recall. Contrast that to some other boards, where it’s anything goes. One topic it’s foaming at the mouth and ogling (with un-ladylike language to boot), next it’s anguish and lashing out (“the ingrate, we love him, why doesn’t he come back and sing for us?”).

Perhaps, not being an insider and privy to behind-the-scenes feuding and drama, I didn’t know what was going on when most of the old-timers seemed to disappear one by one. Then, one day, word came down that Lora was upset with Kathy over something someone posted previously (what about, nobody knew, at least not openly). Then, poof, Kathy says she is closing down the PV boards. I left there and started posting here.

For the record, I do not personally know or are friends with anyone …other than conversations with people on the boards and gathering thoughts through their posts. It just gets distressing when I see so much animosity among people supposed having something in common. We are fans of their music, aren’t we? Why the need to denigrate and put down each other? SJ, I’m talking about you.

And that’s my $.02! I’ll be back tomorrow to read Dan’s comeback to me. It won’t be pretty, I’m sure.

Annie, I joined PV months after the meeting. So, I too, was there when "it all went down". I also, was left wondering what in the heck happened and no one was talking either or explaining.

Being a fan of Steve Perry from the very first video I saw of him in the 80's. I get my information wherever I can. But most of it I take with a grain of salt. Most of the fans that I've posted with are very nice people. A few have gotten to be friends off the forums that I've met them on.

As for Steve coming out or ever preforming. I'm not holding my breath on either of those. If they happen, I'll be very glad but I'm not putting much stock in it.

If you have a problem with someone, that's fine. But keep it confined to that one person. Don't judge everyone who may post on a board to be the same as the person who you have a problem with. We are not.

I rarely take the time to read threads, thatS probably why I miss half the crap, I am busy reading my own posts bwhaah

Here is the deal people and Journey Fans. If anyone that was ever a Journey Steve Perry fan that deserves a day hanging with him it would be me.

I mean really, hands down it is no contest.

Here I am 25 years later still a Perry fan, had the license plates, had the hair, and above all that have made tasteful videos in his HONOR keeping his legacy in tact and alive.

I mean sure, he and I had that pizza one night a long time ago but I was so hammered I do not even remember.

I truly deserve a day hanging and going to catch a movie and doing some shopping at TJ MAXX AND rOSS dRESS FOR lESS!

What more do you want from the man? He doesn't owe us anything....he has give us so much over the years with his music. He deserves to have a life and live it how he see's fit to and if that means not keeping us up to date on every thing he does every minute of the day or putting out new music then that's okay by me. Steve could have ignored this hoax and said to hell with clearing up another rumor but he didn't. He cared enough about his fans to set things right. 8) :D

AMEN......... That's what I said on the other thread about him playing in Hawaii, but I see I should have posted it here.
Nevertheless, we should be thanking Steve for clearing it up as he did.

Incorrect, Annie. I don't think I've ever been rude to you and I'm not about to start now. As I understand it, it's not what everyone knew and saw that was the problem, but what they didn't see. Lies and threats where common and they were supported. PV wasn't/isn't a bad place but there are some very fucked up people on there who just happen to "run" things. I have no dog in this fight and I'm probably about as important to Lora and/or Cyndy as fossilized dinosaur shit, but there's a party here telling the truth and another that's not. Period.

A sister named "Baxter"... talk about identity crisis. :P My youngest daughter just got an adorable angora bunny. We were told that you can't really tell what gender they are until they hit puberty. Lauren decided on 'Cinnamon' (it has strawberry blonde hair, and that's a pretty gender-neutral name) and we've decided that "it's" gonna be a "she" until we learn otherwise. Hope we don't 'confuse' her...

They're both cuties, Lora.

Lora, my experiences with Kathy were nothing but positive, yours obviously weren't. All these years of posting on messageboards, I have never presented anything as facts (I don't know anything about music except what my ears tell me, and I have no inside information), but I do like to post from a personal perspective.

One thing that I dislike (which happens on all messageboards, it seems) is the "piling on" mentality, and I have spoken up against it numerous times.

Hey, GB, you coming up to Reno for the Journey concert 7/25? I'll invite you to come stay over at my house and meet my family. You're one of the few, I think, that actually talks to me fondly here. Well, Larry and Rick have been cordial, and A4P.

I think it was BS that says most people just talk at rather than talk to people. I thought that was quite perceptive of her.

Music is business.
Being in the band is about doing a job. Getting paid. No more no less. Perform, get paid for what services you have rendered like any other working man do. You do the best you can while at it, worked your ass out to get the benefits or incentives that will come out of it. At the end of the day when you feel that you had enough and it is time to go, you will leave regardless of how much you are wanted or how much do you think you once love the job. You're done..end of the line.

That is what Steve do...he did a JOB. That is all there is. So all these bullshit about how he care for his FAITHFULL fans is a nothing but crap. We in a delusional stage are all victim of it, made to believed that he care. He once loved his work but not us. I cursed the day when I heard him and band singing. I totally get suckered by the voice and the music. I worship him, I got high listening to Wind of March, I made love xxx to Faithfully and Open Arms and I rocked to Neal's mastery of the strings and my heart rolls in beat with Stevie thumping..all from listening from my uncles collection of Journey's vinyl.....zzzzzz

F&*&..I am dreaming again..I'm having this nightmares again..
Damn you Steve....You are like Freddie, always haunting the loons :D :D :D
Many of the great achievements of the worldweer accomplished by tired and discouraged men who kept on working.
