Ditto!! Hauntingly fabulous performance! And holy shite! Sam Cooke's Change Is Going to Come, wow, major pipes!

I finally got around to buying "Mad World" (love it) on iTunes - Adam's the only AI contestant that I have bought music from. Sam Cooke? Is that on tonight's show? It hasn't aired here yet.

Yes, tonight's show. :)

Just saw this one on youtube too, one of my fave r&b tunes. Does a great job! Adam on Smokey Robinson's Tracks of My Tears http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRhIbA0Y194

Is it just me or what, I find the song choices boring and lame. :x

I agree with you completely!! (did I just say that??? )

I prefer Kris' style so much better. Plus I like that he can play piano and guitar. I'm a sucker for those accoustic guitar players!!

He reminds me so much of my heart throb, Jason Wade. Sweet, sexy, down to earth and very emotional. Oh ya, and the acoustic guitar too! They even look a little a like when Kris makes certain facial expressions when he's singing.

Adam won't do this no way he will, but he should join a well-known rock band as soon as possible. I'm sure every1 is telling him to go solo or will tell him soon.

Kris can play a few chords on guitar. His whole chance rests on suckering in non-musicians who like his "style". He isn't in Adam's league, as far as vocal ability, artistry or stage presence.

Kris will probably win, though. I mean, hell, Kanye West is a huge star, isn't he? I have NO faith in America's youth voting on musicality.

You have your opinion. I have mine. I think yours is wrong. But to each his own.

And I don't appreciate your dig at me by saying 'suckering in non musicians that like his style'. Some people like a total package. Not just someone who can hit high notes.

Just because it's your opinion doesn't make it right.

No it's not just you. Adams performance of "A Change is Gonna Come" I thought disgraced the song. Sam Cooke would be spinning in the grave if he heard how Adam ruined his song. Kris's performance of "What's Going On" was just as worse. Neither one did those songs justice. There are just some songs you don't even try to do and those two are it! Tonight's show was a complete bore.

Totally agree with you, Kelly. If everyone is supposed to be a musical expert, then there's no point in having people vote. Just let Simon and the rest of the judges pick the winner.

Well since there are probably 20x as many "untrained vocalists" than there are trained vocalists.....let's hope we are all getting "sucked in" and voting for Kris.

Then this arrogant Adam lover can go away!!

Chris WILL make it i.e. make a living singing. As far as his musicianship he mainly strums chords on guitar and his piano is better ,but still playing chords. Adam is a superstar and there is no doubt writers are stumbling to beat a path to his door. He CAN cover ANY song I've ever heard . He sometimes has too much emotion but his 1st album will sell 8 million or more IMHHHO. It makes NO difference who wins AI. See their interview that was picked up by Drudgereport.com today .

Adam fuckin' killed "A Change Is Gonna Come". I thought it was amazing. I think he deserves to win.

I do think Kris got shafted on the single though, "No Boundaries" (I think was the title), because it was just too high for him. I can't figure out why they didn't lower the key and maybe give him a different arrangement than Adam's. That song was clearly written for Adam or a singer like Adam.

However, Kris might surprise us all, (of the 8 million tweens voting for him) and win the whole thing.

I agree with Journey361. Adam's best choice would be to join a band or be a part of a band, like Daughtry did.

Whoever wins, it's been a fun season and so much talent on that show this year. It's the first time I've enjoyed it since Jennifer Hudson was on.

The last song (why did they both sing the same song?) was pretty unimpressive. Apparently it was a song written by judge Kara so that must be why it was chosen. For me, I like both singers for different reasons. Kris' sound always reminds me of David Gates from Bread - which I like. Kris is the singer with guitar in the corner coffeehouse you want to relax to...he's pleasant, unassuming...whereas Adam is the showman, riskier & actually gives me chills on my arms. If you go to see him you'll feel you got your moneys worth. I do feel he has emotion coming through his singing as well as an internal quiet thing happening...you're missing this if you don't hear the studio versions. And, I really dig that long coat he wore tonight (always thought they were rather sexy) :)

Because it will be the first song released by whichever one wins. I wasn't overly impressed with Adam's or Kris' version of it........but I think it has more to do with not being sure if I even like the song, more so than their vocals.

Each year a "single" is purposely written for the show to be the song that the finalists get to compete on. Both supposedly record the song before the finale, so that the single is ready to roll in order to capitalize on the finale's momentum. It is always a sappy, happy, safe, yet lame ballad. :P

I'm kind of hoping that Adam doesn't win, so I don't have to hear that wretched song all over the radio and hopefully get to hear Adam continuing to take risks, rather that follow the 'safe' AI path.

I was loving "Change is gonna come"... UNTIL he went way over the top. The song is a somber song and I think that he should've added some high notes, but not all the ones he did. I think he should win as he's the best singer, but I think he needs to be in the hands of a good producer who can tell him when to reign things in. In the hands of a good producer, the guy could be phenomenally successful, but left to his own devices, I think that voice would get old fast. The guys that played behind him on CIGC also played that really well. Very cool bluesy arrangement.

You're right. I've noticed that his studio stuff is reeled in alot, and not as over the top. It's when he's in front of an audience he just has to let go I guess.

I love to hear him produced by Mutt Lange or even Jim Steinman.

Full-on agree with this post. Saying that, I loved Change is gonna come even near the end there when he went all Joe Cocker like with arms/legs, etc. Nothing I dig more than watching/hearing a performer passionately giving it all he's got. But do agree he could have reigned in a few of the high range riffs there.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for high notes. BUT- the song can't be ALL high notes or it's just annoying. All the crap that Paula spews about "how he emotes every song blah blah blah" I never got that until Change is Gonna Come, but ONLY on the first part of it. Once he went into the 'dog whistle range' it was lost on me. I did like the last high note of it, but the kind of "Aretha-inauguration-look at my big hat-high notes" were just wrecking the sentiment of that beautiful song.
Truly, one of the best songs ever written or performed by Sam.

They should kick that bitch to the curb after that song - it was a piece of shit. It was written in a key that was not even close to the range of either singer, and all it did was give the Kara bitch a big ego boost. I think it would be a huge mistake for either singer to be forced to record and release that song.

They did a poll on the Idol site, and asked who was the least favorite judge, who should go next season, and it was Kara by a landslide.

They don't need four judges. It dilutes the impact of hearing what they have to say. Four opinions I get bored. It drags on too long b/f we get to Simon's opinion. Don't fix what ain't broke.

If you are going to sing a great song you better sing it with SOUL and Adam sang that song last night with NO SOUL...if someone other than Sam Cooke is going to sing this song then they better have soul in their voice! 8)

This is how it should be sung...... the wonderful Luther Vandross 8)
