I was having this convo in another thread, but I think Survivor's catalog is through and through stronger than Journey's. They just don't have the HUGE songs Journey did. But album-wise, I think Survivor is far stronger than Journey. As much as I love Journey, their albums are all marred by some serious throwaways.

Survivor primer for the uninitiated...Eye of the Tiger is NOTHING else like the rest of the catalogue--or even like the Eye of the Tiger album. It was written specifically for the movie at the request of Sylvester Stallone. Here's some of the better stuff. Bickler era was more hard rock, Jamison was generally more melodic (going towards the Journey sound at one point), then turned back to hard rock for the final album before breaking up.

try the list above.....Vital Signs was the "pop" album. Generally speaking, Survivor was harder rocking than Journey was. That album was the exception. You may still not like them, but give the other stuff a try. You'll at least get a better understanding of what their real sound was.

for what it's worth, Vital Signs is my LEAST favorite Survivor album. Generally pales in comparison to the rest of their albums to me.
