To me at least, a huge percentage of the more annoying "classic" songs are ballads. Especially the modern rock ballad hits of today... a good bit of those are definitely cringe-worthy. But honestly, I disagree, I think enduring classic songs are diverse, no greater percentage of any sort of style.

I mean look at the way Mick & Co. rock it out on that DVD, especially with the extended jams and added arrangements - they are capable of getting pretty heavy when they want to. None of those songs on there, even Can't Slow Down, really hit you with a ball-crushing big rhythm guitar like those old classics do.

I agree that this CD is softer and not as hard hitting overall. Didn't someone say that they intentionally wanted to go a bit softer on this one and gear it more towards the adult contemporary market? I don't know if it's true but I recall reading that somewhere said but not by whom. Anyway, maybe they will do more heavy hitting songs in the future, in the meantime I'm loving this new one along with the remixs and DVD to enjoy some heavier hitting songs as well.....theres a whole lot of everything to enjoy in this release, imo.

Mick said that. They're not trying to re-invent the wheel, they know where bands like them and Journey have to go to be successful. If they hadn't gone through Wal-Mart, they wouldnt even have released a new album. Touring is where the money is now.

Yes, I posted that in the OT forum up top too... others have heard it as well. It's really pretty annoying and I honestly would like to see a CD reissue for that or at least a free song download for those who purchased the disc... there's no way that's supposed to be in there.

No such sound on mine (that song is good, haven't got through the whole album yet). I was just totally suprised to actually find it at Walmart today, we're usually a lot further behind for new releases in Canada. Maybe the Journey DVD will be there Friday after all!

Anyone else have that problem or notice a similar noise? Maybe I'll just have to take my copy back for an even-exchange.

I heard that squeak clear as day. I got a few of them right around 1:20-1:24. I ordered mine from walmart.com. F*ckers.

Nah...it's the obvious piped in vocal redo's in post production. It's not very live sounding. The lead vox on the live dvd almost sounds like it was done in a studio. It's just not raw/live enough.

Just finished one listen and need to convince myself to give it another go.

I really have only gotten through it all once... heard several of the songs more than once though... just doesn't rock hard enough for me.

I was positively surprised of the quality of the new album. Thats mainly because of Kelly Hansen's voice, which I think is a very good substitution for Lou. He nearly reaches Lous voice as good as Arnel does it for Journey. From the musical pov the album is ok, not more or less, - man - what did u expect?!
