I'll just leave this here. Apologies if it's already been discussed.

Americans spend twice as much as residents of other developed countries on healthcare, but get lower quality, less efficiency and have the least equitable system, according to a report released on Wednesday.

Yes, Sarah, the US does have some of the worst health care in the world-among developed countries-and I could go on for hours about the reasons, but I'll spare you. It, however, has nothing to do with the payer source.

I would also be interested in knowing how the producer of the graph you posted came up with "patient centered care" and "efficiency of care" those seem very subjective-it would be interesting to see what measurable indicators were used to formulate these "rankings."

Sounds like the very type of frivolous junk lawsuit you rail against in the name of tort reform daily. Besides, gov't healthcare programs like Medicare or the VA (or England's NHS) get sued all the time.

Even the Huffington Post thinks the new financial "reform" bill is a bill of goods...

Compared to the GOP alternative, (more Glass-Steagall type deregulations to "unleash" the power of the free market and financial innovation), I'll take it.

You're right. Tit for tat implies that there's some sort of equality between the two parties. There isn't, and hasn't been for years. One party consistently delivers weak, half-assed corporate-appeasing reform (Dems) and the other doesn't believe in regulation at all.

Despite differences in policy, a majority of politicians in either major party only care about one thing...themselves. Anyone that thinks one party is any different from the other in that regard is living with their head up their backside.

So, what is the prevailing thought on the whole DOJ/Black Panther scandal? I heard something today about the NAACP being involved in that, but I didn't get too many details.

Somebody (don't remember specifically who it was) once said here reverse racism doesn't exist. Do you still feel that way?

yes things take time. the problem i have is the whole race crap and saying obama was "for the black man." bush's doj determined there was not a fed law broken, no prosecution. funny too cuz the polling place was a largely democrat spot. holder pursued the case civilly, was unaware it was dropped? or was it thrown out by the judge?

Another lie.

The case was dropped before Holder was appointed - it was actually dropped during the Bush Administration.

Try again.

http://www.usccr.gov/NBPH/05-14-2010_NBPPhearing.pdf

This means that the case was downgraded to a civil case 11 days before Obama was inaugurated, 26 days before Eric Holder became attorney general, and about nine months before Thomas Perez was confirmed as head of the Civil Rights Division.

http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,2003953,00.html#ixzz0tlj3JOBl

So much for the notion that Americans blame Obama for the economy:

The survey contained a batch of good news for both the President and Congressional Democrats, however. Asked to assign blame for the balky economy, 61% point to the Bush Administration, while 27% fault Obama.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night

When was the last tine you actually paid attention to something? Good Lord. The Bush Administration DROPPED THE CHARGES.

After reviewing the matter, the Civil Rights Division determined that the facts did not constitute a prosecutable violation of the criminal statutes. The Department did, however, file a civil action on January 7th, 2009, seeking injunctive and declaratory relief under 11(b) against four defendants.
No voters have alleged intimidation stemming from incident

Civil Rights Commissioner: "[N]o citizen has even alleged that he or she was intimidated from voting." In an April 23 hearing on the DOJ's decision in the case, Civil Rights Commissioner Arlan Melendez noted that "no citizen has even alleged that he or she was intimidated from voting," which "was clear to the Justice Department last spring, which is why they took the course of action that they did."

http://www.usccr.gov/NBPH/05-14-2010_NBPPhearing.pdf

Again, I made a post with IRREFUTABLE facts, and if you want to continue to get a reach-around from Fox News et all, more power to ya. It's just not true. You're wrong. This is yet another attempt by Coulter / O'Reilly / Blimpaugh / Hannity / Beck, et cetera, to perpetuate lies in order to further their absurd perspectives.

This Panther story is not that important.

I see the Cons here defleted us to that focus.

We should talk about the prospects of GOP takeover in Congress. If they get control, we're fucked. Seriously, they ruined the economy, destroyed the middle class and now they want control yet again.

Discuss. Que the Fox/GOP talking points. :)

The first thing they are going to want to do is the extend the Bush tax cuts, costing the country billions of dollars in revenue and plummeting us further into recession. Then those sorry assholes will try to repeal healthcare, because they don't give two shits about their fellow comrades. And thirdly, they are going to vote no on extension of unemployment benefits for the people who are victims of the Bush eonomy. Fuck those middle class folk, right? Beautiful.
