Nope.....dumbest call ever was the coach that deferred the ball in OT! Can't beat that.....LMAO.

the niners are really good on defense but someone forget to tell them that they are missing one important ingredient:QUARTERBACK.

Alex Smith isn't goin to be Joe Montana, but on the road and throwing for 45 times when you have Frank Gore? Out-coached but it was mainly San Fran's D just getting gashed all day.

And after ALL of that, and after Dallas seemed to just hand and gift wrap Washington on that drive with like 10 penalties, Washington STILL can't capitalize and flops on the hold. So bad haha. 17/13-0 turned into 10-7 real quick. Dallas has momentum now.

Might not be a good matchup for Houston. On paper, they should score major points on them but Jim Haslett has really done a good job with that defense and to beat an offense like the Texans, who spreads you out, you must punch them in the mouth and be physical, esp with the blitz, which is something Washington did SO well tonight. Houston is all rhythm and corners like De'Angello Hall are known to disrupt that rhythm and be physical at the corners. Should be an interesting matchup since both teams do things entirely different.

your right.also matt schaub has had some very bad games against albert haynesworth back when albert played in tennessee.its been said that houston is a finesse team and washington just might be able to hold houston down.

Raiders got screwed...I admit that. But they still had many chances to win that game. They choked. Lions had ONE more play.

Are you implying that Brady & co. gets favored calls? If you are, I'll refer you to the infamous 4th and 2, and the blatant non-call of holding on the even more infamous 'Helmet Catch'. Patriots are a holding call, and a dropped pass by Reche Caldwell from being 5-time SB Champs.

6-time champs if not for Desmond-freakin-Howard....rent-a-player supreme.

Am my the only one that thinks the Lions didn't get "screwed"? I heard all the hype and once I watched it I couldn't believe this is starting such an uproar. This rule has been in effect for YEARS and according to the rule, it's textbook. Instead of worrying about getting up and sprinting 80 yards as fast as you can celebrating, how about do what your taught and caress the football until you hit the ground, and THEN celebrate. He clearly lets go of the football before he even hits the ground and doesn't even possess it with his body. I don't see the uproar, of coarse the rule will probably now change, but blame Johnson for not doing the obvious. I'm not surprised.

Lets talk about things that DIDN'T happen. If we're allowed to play the "..if he didn't drop the ball or if holding wasn't called on this play" game, then the Steelers would easily have 9 rings by this point or every other NFL franchise could have multiple rings. THAT'S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME. 8)

Travis....c'mon. You know that more than one Offensive lineman held on Eli's 'Great Escape'....lol

David Diehl #66, and Shaun O'Hara #60 are BLATANTLY holding on that play, in fact, O'Hara is holding Richard Seymour #93(who is about to tackle Eli)

Those could or could have been called. It looks to me that the the Oline did a pretty good job and kept their hands inside the Pats defenders while they try to loop around while turning their body themselves into the hold. It's more of a position thing in that situation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB7jbqP-NPk

If you think that's bad? 2007 AFC WILDCARD game. Steelers VS Jaguars. Steelers with a comeback lead in a back and forth game. Jaguars face 4th and 1. Watch Jacksonville's left tackle # 69 completley grab James Harrison and hold him like he's his own 5'11 new born. Not only that, but this was the hold that opened up the entire hole for Garrard to run through, let alone the whole backside of the Steelers line getting held as well. How can you NOT see this? Of course, if they call holding and the Steelers stop Jax, the Steelers go into N.E and WOMP all over them in their undefeated season :D

I literally count the times James Harrison literally gets chokin out by offensive lineman with nothing called. He may get 1 every few games. If the NFL would call every holding call, then Harrison gets 25+ sacks a year. It's something that was called last night during the Redskins game and it's probably something we're going to see called more often now with the two ref's in the backfield.

You don't see O'Hara's forearm around Seymour's neck, choking him back? Are you serious? :? :?

I can't really tell from that angle if his forearm is wrapped around his neck or his hands are underneath his shoulder pads that make it look like he's chocking him. There were 3-4 Patriots there, including Seymour who got his hands in there to make the play and even had Eli in their grasp. Hard to watch for when things are so cluttered up. Looks like for the most part, the oline did a good job on staying on their blocks while Pats defenders turned their body for position. Holding calls are more called in the blatant one on one's before the quarterback gets rid of the ball.

Looking at that video of Jags-Pitt...it is a definite hold. and one of those one-on-ones you were talking about...a blatant non-call by the refs.

On Eli's play, Mike Carey is RIGHT THERE bent down, hands on thighs, staring right at the play...and calls nothing. If he's on the defensive side. like they have started this season, that is called holding.....

Looked like a perfectly cooked sandwhich sack to me. Dude should have thrown the ball or taken a dive, he had no chance. I didn't see any penalty there and neither did the TV crew as far as I heard. Gruden was blaming Flacco.

Flacco holding the ball too long, and whether the hit was a penalty are TWO separate issues....with logic like yours how the hell do you debate politics?

My logic seems quite sound. 1. No flag was thrown. 2. No TV guy said a word. 3. I didn't see one. What more do I need to know? Oh and 4. Flacco didn't bitch about it and neither did the Ravens as far as I could tell. It must just be you.

So the absense of a flag means there was no penalty.....WOW...I wish the Repubs held the same view about the absense of WMDs. :?

This game is quite sickening for the Jets. If they think their a Super Bowl caliber team who yaps their mouths, then 23 offensive plays in 3 quarters with under 100 yards of offense is just playing like pansies. It's just unfathomable watching this game and watching the yellow flags being called literally every other play. Jets have over 100 yards in penalties, way more than total offense. Just terrible display of offense. I guess everyone is overlooking that they needed two teams to completley lye down to qualify for the playoffs at 9-7. You can play D all day, if you can't get more than 4 firsts down then good luck.

Also, everyone wants to talk about the rule of having and keeping possession to count as a catch. How about tinker with the fucking "running into the kicker" bullshit? That shit gotta GO. National Pansy League.

Well quess what...it is just the first week. All the teams in the NFL don't gell together I think until the 4th week.

I completley agree that it's mid-season to where teams pull away from the divisions and things start to shape up, but it's no excuse. These are paid professional athletes that have an entire off-season to understand what their going to be doing. The Jets ran the ball last season better than anyone, but if you look at their whole entire season in a nutshell, they were stagnant and mediocre at best. This is the regular season, no excuse not to be able to get more than 4 first downs and completing 0 outta 7 third downs. I like Mark Sanchez more than anyone, was my favorite QB coming out of his draft class and his poise is unreal. Doesn't exclude the fact that the dude threw for 12 TDS and 20 INTS last season. He might need to pick it up and Ryan needs to uncuff him sometime.

Make no mistake about it...Ravens didn't exactly light it up either. 21 first downs....10 points. Patriots should have their way with Jets next week.

Shit, the difference in the game was that pansy ass running into the kicker penalty that resulted in a 7 point swing rather than 3. The Ravens moved the ball and hit some nice deep balls with a little bit of the Jets gifts by holding penalties downfield. The Ravens also converted 11 third down balls. This was a battle between two great D's, but the Jets offense barely gave the Ravens anything to be concerned about.

Only the second quarter, but Kansas City playing upset football! 14-7, their defense forcing turnovers. Arrowhead is the loudest stadium and roughest stadium to play in when you give them something to cheer about. Impressive from the Chefs thus far.

Anyone else like Trent Dilfer? I always love his segments on ESPN as an analyst and he's doing a great job tonight in the booth. Very likable.
