Changing the form of government will not repair that... it will in fact, "give the mob the gavel"... who will further strip individual rights away, that rights the current one in its original and intended form, would protect..

The people have the power to make this change...In the end, they whine, bitch, moan, listen to their leaders and protest whatever they are asked to, and then vote for the candidates who speak loudest and most convincingly that their opponents are the next Hitler. They do not educate themselves on the issues. They do not educate themselves on where the candidates REALLY stand. Instead they assume others have done that for them and take for granted that what they say is factual and unbiased and vote as they are told.

In short, people are the problem. They are uneducated, naive, and too easily influenced to vote against their own interests...or too lazy to vote at all.

Until that changes, no form of republic or democratic government will be any different then the one we currently have.

How do you come to that conclusion? Perhaps people just don't want to vote. Is it logical to say a person is lazy because they don't wish to rent a certain DVD? or how about a person that doesn't care to go to an office Xmas party? Its a matter of choice. Nothing else. There is no life involved here...

BTW, the biggest catalyst of change would be term limits....

It's definitely unconstitutional but it's one change I'd like to see made. Pass an amendment and limit Senators to two terms and representatives to six terms (each twelve years total).

Probably the first and last time I will disagree with you.

While I agree with you that we should be throwing these bums ourselves as soon as they get too comfortable....the very INTENT of the framers of the constitution regarding terms were such that someone would be elected, serve a term and return home to their lives. They never anticipated the 'professional politician'

The fact of the matter is that Incumbents enjoy some advantages over challengers that make it easier for an incumbent to enjoy re-election.

Hell, an incumbent can royally fuck up in biblical proportions and still get reelected.

A challenger has to kick, scream and claw to get press...and often times, the incumbents gets allies in press, government and interest groups to smack down the challenger or worse, vilify them.

The framers of the constitution never anticipated the political climate that we live in right now......

forcing term limits would actually be a fantastic thing for our government in it's current makeup, because the very problem with congress and the POTUS is that they are dreadfully detached from the needs of the regular joe.

Think of an incumbent like the title holder in a title fight. The challenger has the herculean task of beating the champ. He just can't win. He has to decidedly destroy him. Cause the judges are always going to lean in favor of the champ....the same with politics. A knock out is the only way. Cause if it goes to the cards....all bets are off.

I am not saying they don't. What I am saying is the Tea Party is pushing the Republican party into the loony bin. She is unelectable...and the Republicans nominated her anyway...over somebody who could have one. That is self-destruction. It is evidence to me that have no clue what they are doing and will nominate anybody who even comes close to their 'vision'.

Even Alaska...I've read the moderate Republican is so pissed that she may run as a write-in. That splits the Republican vote and gives the Democrats a fighting chance.

Now Palin is even giving serious hints that she may run for President...IMO, she is unelectable too. If she is nominated, then it is clear that a minority has taken over the direction of the party.

The Tea party may give some 'rah, rah' opportunities for a specific group of conservatives and independents. However, in the Republican party, they are a damaging force that will hurt much in the long run.

BTW, FF was cheering this chick as a big win not too long ago. How interesting that when a few brain cells start firing you all start saying "she has serious issues". This was NOT a good thing for Republicans or conservatives to be cheering about, being proud of, or promoting as some kind of victory for the people.. It's victory for loonies to show they can get attention and be nominated...but nobody else.

Doesn't matter anyway. O'Donnell is way beyond all of that. If you have seen her on Politically Incorrect, you would know how out of touch she is. At least Hillary and Nancy Reagan can speak as if they are living on this Earth and among its people...and not like she's on Mars sharing a giant telescope with Marvin Martian as he plans the Earth's destruction with his Illudium PU-36 Space Modulator She is out there, way out there.

BTW, to continue on this...the next time you see this clip notice that there are a set of books setting on the coffee table. The reason they are setting there, and the reason she goes off into lala land, is because they were discussing the idea, that some Christian conservatives were promoting at that time, that Harry Potter books influence young people to believe in witchcraft and are very dangerous to let them read. O'Donnell was there defending this idea. This clip came from that discussion.

Come on Maher, release some more clips to show how wacky she really is.

Just 40% say their views are closer to Obama's than to those of the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate.

8% aren't sure.

Yeah, lots of laughs, since you pick and choose what to quote. From the same report:

Voters think Hillary Clinton is more qualified to be president than Obama, but most believe that both Democrats are more fit for the White House than three top Republicans interested in the job, including Palin.

What that tells me is that many people are not willing to vote for Palin even if they agree with what is coming out of her mouth.

Here's is the entire report...and it is really a mixed bag with neither party with a clear advantage.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_ ... an_obama_s

And, this is basically saying that voters overwhelmingly feel Palin is not qualified to be President, and neither is Gingrich:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_ ... rich_palin

According to this poll, the only Republican that has a chance is Romney...and he is behind.

The bottom line is that Republicans have a lot of work to do to take the White House...especially if they nominate Palin or Gingrich.

No one who is on the horizon now will win the republican nomination for president , especially not Palin or Gingrich. Someone like - John Thune (SD) will win the republican nomination for president in 2012.

"Pledge to America" Unveiled by Republicans

CBS News has obtained a final draft of House Republicans' legislative agenda for the next Congress, a 21-page "Pledge to America" that they will formally unveil Thursday morning at a Virginia hardware store...

In addition to this, I'd like to see the following...

Require the text of ALL legislation to be posted online five days prior to voting.

None of this adding of amendments that have nothing to do with the main portion of the bill.

Limit the size of all bills to under 1000 pages. If additional legislation is required, it must be submitted in an addition bill voted on not less than two weeks after the passage of the previous related bill.

Make recess appointments by the President illegal and no appointing of "Czars" that do not have to be approved by Congress. Not sure how that would be enacted but the last several Presidents have abused this luxury, in my opinion.

Restore the appointing of Senators to the state legislatures like it was originally intended to be. The citizens are supposed to be represented by the members of the House of Representatives. The Senators are supposed to represent the interests of their home state.

LOL Making sure all the facts are there, Monker.

Romney is by far the best qualified and Republicans won't pick him because he's a Mormon and he was never conservative enough in the far right's eyes, even though he is trying to fit that mold now.

According to this poll, the only Republican that has a chance is Romney...and he is behind.

The bottom line is that Republicans have a lot of work to do to take the White House...especially if they nominate Palin or Gingrich.

LOL Making sure all the facts are there, Monker.

Romney is by far the best qualified and Republicans won't pick him because he's a Mormon and he was never conservative enough in the far right's eyes, even though he is trying to fit that mold now.

"I just hope people remember that this is a person who spent half a term as governor of a state with no people. I think the bar for running for president should be set a little higher then having a FaceBook page. But, that's just me." -- Bill Maher on Sarah Palin

Thank you Bill.

Looks like supporters are starting to distance themselves from Obama, and Stewart even compares the Tea Party's cause to the cause that got Obama elected!

Stewart 'saddened' by Obama

(CNN) – Count Jon Stewart among the legion of frustrated supporters of President Obama.

Appearing on Fox News' The Bill O'Reilly show Wednesday, the liberal comedian said he thought Obama would do a better job when he voted for him in the 2008 presidential election.

"I think people feel a disappointment in that there was a sense that Jesus will walk on water and no you are looking at it like, 'Oh look at that, he's just treading water' … I thought he'd do a better job," said Stewart.

Stewart, who maintains he ultimately does not regret his vote for Obama, said he is "saddened" the president hasn't done more to change the structure of Washington.

"I thought we were in such a place [in 2008], much like the Tea Party feels now, that the country … needed a more drastic reconstruction – I have been saddened to see that someone who ran on the idea that you can't expect to get different results with the same people and the same system has kept in place so much of the same system and same people," he said.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

In the end I hope it was worth making history by having the first black president.....he's more of a novelty, than a president.

Good fucking grief....hope someone learned to wash their genitals at least.

Why the fucking US vs. Them mentality? Is it so important to run in here like a little girl and tattle on the Dems? Nobody can run this country. Nobody...but if it makes you feel like the BMOC to pick sides, then have at it....you really aren't part of the solution. You are part of the perpetuality.
