Actually, this team is a whole lot like the 2001 team. Especially on the defensive side of the ball. That 2001 team gave up a fuckload of yards between the 20 yard lines (like this team) but somehow managed to clamp down in the red zone.

YoungJRNY wrote: there's no denying that New England owns a formula that is hard to defend

Honestly Travis, the only real "formula" New England has is that they've always played as a team and never allow one guy to be bigger than the team, which is THE REASON they dumped Moss!

YoungJRNY wrote:As far as the Steelers/N.E matchup: If there was any game on the schedule that scares me, it's none other than New England. Baltimore doesn't scare me, the Bengals don't scare me, nor do the Jets. It's New England and for good reason. The Steelers only beaten Brady one time, in '04. Other than that, N.E has had our number this entire decade so they will always be one I worry about. Looking forward to the game, but even if we lose, all of Pittsburgh wants N.E in the playoffs sooner or later.

Nothing really scary about the matchup for me. They're two good teams and it should be a great game. Honestly, for me, the regular season game isn't that crucial for me, beyond perhaps determining home field advantage for the playoffs. Pittsburgh has the more talented team, but luckily, that doesn't always matter.

Agreed 100%. The Steelers and Patriots as a whole organization are very eerily similiar when it comes to the higher ups. They have possibly the best owners in the business, use the draft to their advantage when having future teams and prospects in sight, are very well coached and more importantly, very well disciplined. It's no coincidence that over the past decade, that it's been the Steelers and Patriots who are nothing but contenders only because of the concept of "BIG TEAM, little me" mind-set & attitude within the locker rooms. Those two teams are as un-selfish as it gets and it shows on the field.

WTF is going to happen to OG this coming weekend? Who is he going to throw to? Moss= Gone. Rice= Injured still. Harvin= hurt. OG has NO weapons this weekend. I guess he will be a handing off machine to AP, who will undoubtedly put in on the ground 3 times. OG is fucked. I bet he changes all the plays and goes oput in typical Gunslinger style. Just throwing the rock all over the yard, caring less what color jersey catches it. :)

I'm guessing that he'll crack his anus and go before the media after the game to give a 30 minute dissertation on how courageous he is and that how no other player in the history of the NFL could ever endure that type of injury. Knowing Douche Man, he'll almost certainly say something to the effect of "I don't know how I keep doing this".

Well, they're playing the Cardinals, so my guess is Rodgers-Cromartie, Greg Toler, Kerry Rhodes, Adrian Wilson and a linebacker or two!

I SO LOVE THE VIKING IMPLOSION... nothing makes a Packer fan more happy... and my Packers are in 1st place... and they have been pretty bad themselfs...looking forward to the next few weeks of games...

FYI... the league is goofy this year... lots of bad teams, coaches making horrible calls and the officals are really bad... the replay booth has made the refs really really lazy on certain plays... I think the league is headed for a lock out after the super bowl... that will be my 2 cents for now... this is just my opinion...but it just seems like thats where its headed...

Oh absolutely Rick. There won't be an NFL season next year. They are far too apart IMO to come to an agreement. Same with the NBA. I predict we will have two major sports leagues taking the year off.

and this is telling... a snip it of Favre's reaction to Childress and Moss...

Favre said that he, like most of the players on the team, was ''a little bit shocked'' when Childress informed them Monday that Moss would not be back. But he also said support for the team ''never wavered.''

Favre said he would be the first to admit that he doesn't always see eye-to-eye with Childress, but also acknowledged that some of the coaches justifiably disagree with the decisions he makes on the field.

''Good teams are the teams that can overcome adversity, work well together,'' Favre said. ''Having a good working relationship doesn't mean you have to like each other. That goes for any phase of business or sports.''

Look at the OG commenting diplomatically. A seasoned pro is what OG is. I have never heard #4 throw Chilly under the bus, but Chilly sure threw OG under the wheels....cocksucker!

You all see this? Jamarcus Russell, LOL, LOL again, came into Redskin camp tipping the scales at get this, 286 pounds. Jesus Christ! How does Shanny justify bringing Jawalrus in, a guy who ate his way out of ther NFL, to play QB? Is McNabb that bad?

Not really "telling" at all to anyone paying attention. The fact that Favre and Childress despise each other isn't exactly a state secret. Hell, watch the interviews they both give. They never miss an opportunity to take digs at each other.

Shhhhhh Rick! Let's keep it to ourselves!!! I have been enjoying it in private, listening to Vikings/Favre/Moss fans at work going nuts!!

Moss is headed to Tennessee.

In other not so interesting news, Shawne Merriman is going to the Bills.

well now teams can either focus on randy moss or try to stop chris johnson.the titans offense will give opposing defenses headaches trying to figure out who to stop.if vince young can stay healthy the titans will have a great offense this year.

Can't wait to see Fischer's face when Moss quits on a ball and/or takes a play off. Fischer won't put up with that shit like Chilly did.

Vince Young wins games, no doubt, but he's no juggernaut in the passing game whatsoever. We'll see how Moss handles his counter part Nate Washington, Kenny Britt, and also Chris Johnson in the backfield. It won't be long before Young is forcing the ball to the lazy shit. Before you know it, Tenn will be 4 games in the shitter before no time.

I think one of the main reasons that the Titans picked Moss up is that Britt is injured and isn't coming back anytime soon.

Fischer's been around long enough to know Moss' game. I honestly don't know why anyone acts so shocked by who Moss is. I've watched this guy since his rookie season and he hasn't changed one iota. The amazing thing about Moss is that he has put up ridiculous numbers while not only taking plays off, but taking seasons off when he played in Oakland.

I knew he was hurt, but didn't know he'd be out for awhile. They are just reporting Britt will be out 4 weeks so that's a huge downfield blow for the Titans. Moss is a gamble in this situation and I don't blame them for trying to get their threat downfield back. Funny thing is, is that once things breaks down, Young gets out of the pocket and extends the play. Moss barely runs the givin route assigned to him, so what makes Fischer think Moss is going to get his ass downfield in the direction of Young if things break down?

If the Titans make a playoff push, then it'll be interesting to see how they handle Moss when Britt comes back. Who is quicker, stronger, younger and more explosive. If anything, this might be an early audition for Moss for next season.

Helluva a point. I wondered the same thing. I saw Moss quit on the OG the last two weeks....and OG despite his ability to keep a play alive, can't run like Young can. My point is if Moss can't respect an icon like OG, he sure as Hell isn't going to respect Young, unless there is a "black thing" going on; and yes, I am serious about that.

I know the disdain you've always had for McCupcakes, JoePa, but let's be honest...guts has nothing to do with it. The reality is that Donovan is a lame duck QB who doesn't have a contract for next year and everyone under the sun has known from the beginning that the Redskins weren't re-signing this guy. They're a third place team in a four team division, so it makes sense to move on.

Johnno he is also absolutely godawful this year. 26th overall rated qb, 31st on 3rd downs, brutal in the red zone more pix than td passes.
Shannahan had seen enough. What an embarressment to get hooked, there, for GROSSMAN! All of their wins have come despite him.

No disagreement from me, AT ALL. McNabb has been atrocious. I also agree that you know you've hit rock bottom when you're getting the hook for Rex Fucking Grossman

More of 13's perpetual hatred for McNabb. Listen, dude, the guy has zero weapons around him. None. They've won as many games this year as they did all of last year. Shanahan's decision was horrible. Seems to me like he didn't have the stones to outright bench the guy, so he used some ridiculous excuse and it may have cost the team a victory. I'm a contrarian on this. I think he was scared to death that there was a chance that McNabb would take them down the field for the game-winning TD and that he'd lose his excuse to yank him as the starter. Total bitch move ... with the results to prove as much.

I understand the whole McNabb situation and why Shanahan pulled him (not really.) Really, how can a Hall of Fame coach be so bone-headed? Okay, McNabb is struggling but his so-called weapons around him aren't too prolific either and barely help the dude out as it is. But bench him, for REX FUCKING GROSSMAN? Wow, that's pretty shallow. I'd rather have Ryan Leaf go in there before Grossman (not really.. but Grossman.. REALLY?)

The whole entire POINT of acquiring McNabb was that situation we saw at the end of the Lions game. Down late in the 4th QRT, 2:00 offense and McNabb giving the Redskins the play at QB at that givin' time to lead his team downfield, something Campbell or whoever else couldn't hack. McNabb might not light it up like he use to in his past, but no matter how you want to turn it, the dude is a proven franchise QB and deserved the shot to get his team downfield, no matter how bad he has played. Grossman comes in, and fumbles for a touchdown, D'OH! One of the worst coaching decisions that backfired in a long time. Not only did he handle Haynesworth like a prick but now he bench's the guy he signed for the specific reasoning in front of him. Shanahan's an idiot

Just so I'm clear, I couldn't agree with you more, as far as pulling McNabb when he did. In all honesty, even though it hasn't even been talked about by the so-called "experts", I'm not sure that any coach in the history of the NFL has ever pulled his starting QB with 2:00 minutes left in the game. Who knew that wouldn't end well? That said, Shanahan doesn't like McNabb and doesn't want him to be his starting QB. That's why he doesn't have a contract for next season. If the Redskins aren't going anywhere (and in my opinion, they're not), it makes all the sense in the world to put another QB in, but I'd lean toward their third string guy John Beck before I'd put Rex Grossman in there.

LOL That's just part of what makes it so great.
In addition to calling him out for being overweight, a choker, and unable to remember 2 plays at a time or grasp the offense.

And Dan, enough with the "weapons" already. It's ALWAYS somebody else with this guy, NEVER him.
Every national expert said Philly was crazy for doing this and watch out now that he's with Shanahan it's gonna be Elway all over again....the nation needs to admit Eagles fans like me knew what we were talking about. You had to have seen every snap of his career, not look at his inflated stats because Reid calls 70 passing plays all the time from afar.
