A Redskins fan friend of mine posted on Facebook that "Wade Phillips is available!"

no one will touch Wade for 2 years.... if that ..

Wade = NFL poison right now.. ... but , hes a nice guy.. :P

imagine if wade phillips actually ended up going back to buffalo.the last time that buffalo went to the playoffs was in 2000 with wade phillips who was fired immediately after the playoff loss.

Vick was bouncing around on that last TD for 7.7 seconds before he fired that laser into the endzone. Maybe the Redskins Defensive line needs to borrow those dresses those hog fans are wearing.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are contemplating cutting Jeff Reed, who missed his seventh field goal of the season in Pittsburgh's 39-26 loss to New England on Sunday night, and will bring in kickers for workouts on Tuesday, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

After the loss, Reed called into question the quality of the turf at Heinz Field.

"I'm not one to make excuses," Reed was quoted as saying in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I'll take the credit for the miss. It was a great snap, a great hold, great protection. It's kind of hard when you plant your foot and the hole -- a piece of ground moves where the ball's under the holder. I almost missed the ball completely.

"I'm not going to make excuses. If you've played any kind of sports in your life, you realize that what we play on is not very good turf. It happens."

Reed's miss came at the end of a seven-play, 59-yard drive with the Steelers trailing 17-3. Reed has not missed seven field goals in a season since 2006, when he finished 20-of-27.

Fans greeted Reed with a mock cheer after the North Carolina alum made an extra point in the fourth quarter.

Reed said he didn't hear the cheer, but called out Pittsburgh fans.

"It doesn't surprise me," Reed told the Post-Gazette. "If you're not perfect in this city, man, then you're going to hear about it. It's been like that for nine years, and why would they stop now?"

Reed is 15-of-22 on field goals this season and his kicking percentage of 68.2 is the lowest of his career -- lower than the 71.9 percent in 2003, his second year in the NFL. Reed missed nine field goals that season and the Steelers finished 6-10.

While Reed struggled Sunday, wide receiver Hines Ward barely got to play.

Ward suffered a concussion at the end of the first quarter and missed the final three quarters against New England. His streak of 186 consecutive games with at least one reception ended. Ward says he expects to play Sunday against Oakland, but he must pass the medical tests that are given to players with concussions.

Can somebody please go through the old threads where I was saying Michael Vick was going to be a steal for whoever had the balls to pick him up? Everyone laughed at me here and elsewhere. I said all along he would be great again.

I don't know why anyone would laugh....people take chances on athletes every day. Look at Darko Milicic. MY question is this: If any of us were convicted of what he was - would our job be waiting for us when we got out? That's my beef.
Tom Brady IS the G.O.A.T.

That's not Michael Vick, it's a whole entirely different QB wearing #7  He's been incredible.

My week 10 Power Rankings:

1. N.Y Jets: The Jets continue to be a team and winning the style of what a thorn in your side would feel like. Along with the Falcons and Patriots, their one of the NFC/AFC's best record at 7-2, and deserving so. Sanchez to Holmes is starting to heat up.

2. Philadelphia Eagles: How incredible has Michael Vick been? I'm going as far to say that there is NO other QB in the NFL better right now than Michael Vick. His explosiveness to get out of the pocket is one thing, but his will, awareness, and grit to stay in the pocket and look pass first and run second is as dangerous as it comes, esp the deep ball. Philly is for REAL.

3. New England Patriots: The big AFC Showdown of the week quickly became an AFC sleep fest, atleast for the Steelers. Brady continued his domination of Pittsburgh and proved why he's a Hall of Famer by completley making QB in the NFL against one of the NFL's most feared (now all of a sudden cup-cake) defense look like a piece of cake. We'll see if N.E can keep it up with their "no-name" offense and defense.

4. Indianapolis Colts: The Colts have about 45 of their 53 man roster banged up or out for the season. No matter, Peyton Manning continues to simply win games by showing up alone. The presence of Manning is so strong, that he doesn't even need half of his team in there to give the Colts an edge. Nothing ever changes and the Colts will be there come January. An AFC Championship game could be previewed this week with Indianapolis @ Foxboro.

5. Atlanta Falcons: Matty Ice (Really? Matty Ice? Why not just Matt Ice? God damn, how gay) proves his dominance at home in his young and promising career, coming up HUGE in the final seconds against an AFC favorite against the Baltimore Ravens. If Atlanta lands homefield advantage in the NFC, who can beat them?

6. Baltimore Ravens: Baltimore is a team that makes few mistakes, just like many of their counterparts in the AFC, but they remain tough to line up against and play the style of football meant in the cold tundra that is January. Baltimore remains scary with weapons everywhere. It's up to Flacco to rise up and take control of those threats.

7. Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers got their collective ass's kicked. AN OLD FASHIONED beatdown and embarrassment are the only words to describe a Sunday Night, Nationally Televised performance. Tom Brady continues to stick his finger up Steelers Nations ass, only to snap it at the knuckle so we feel it for the rest of ETERNITY! It doesn't get easier for the Steelers, who now all of a sudden have a must-win situation with the new and improved Oakland Raiders coming to town, who oh by the way, beat Pittsburgh the last two times they've faced them. We'll see how they respond to a heavy annihilation against a team we SHOULD pound (heard that before.)

8. N.Y Giants: The Giants fell hard this week, losing at home to a Dallas Cowboys team who could and should have just layed down tot he juggernauts of the NFC, instead, they re-signed Troy Aikem, I mean Jon Kitna who SCORCHED the Giants defense with a rookie wideout to boot. The Giants are now facing that tough week to re-bound like so many are now experiencing in today's NFL. It's how you respond to those beatings to see if you have a good team and I'm sure the Giants will re-bound.

9. Green Bay Packers: It's Aaron Rodgers time to get that huge #4 monkey off of his back and beat his nemesis in Brett Favre. Emotion is running high in Green Bay these days, esp now more than ever when playing their rival Vikings and Favre is the main culprit. If Rodgers wants to escape from the shadow, then he MUST outperform Favre this week in every way, shape or form. Rodgers is 1-2 against Favre in his career, making it 2-2 would be a fit start with 4 out of the league for good next season. Green Bay remains my favorite to represent in the Super Bowl.

10. San Diego Chargers: The Chargers were on their bye week, but you can almost FEEL it. The Chargers may be one of those teams in the running with a winning streak come playoff time to just wedge their way into the playoffs and be a threat from there on out. It would be nice for Chargers fans to see them start off hot and never die down one year though but S.D is a team on the rise.

A legitimate beef, to be sure. I've said all along what Vick did doesn't bother me all that much. But yeah, regardless of your opinion on what he did, it is a felony conviction and none of us would have our jobs waiting for us after such a conviction. But, if he was coming back to the league anyway, you might as well take a chance on him. I wanted the Browns to pick him up big time. Oh well.

Again, the Chiefs have a nice team that could play atleast first round spoiler in the playoffs, esp at home in Arrowhead, but everyone is anticipating the wheels to come off, and losing huge to a Denver team on the road is a nice start.

I'm still not sold at all on the Jets after they struggled with Detroit and the Browns two weeks in a row. Add in that Green Bay shutout too. But, we all know that the Browns and the Lions are far tougher games than their records would suggest, so who knows.

I just re-vamped my list. Knew I got something wrong somewhere. This Chief's shit needs to go so I remembered Green Bay coming off their BYE so I placed them in the top 10 and kicked K.C out for the time being. But as far as the Jets, as long as they find ways to win, those down to the wire victories are sometimes more impressive than blow outs in their own way.

I think somewhere in these next three games, Vick is going to get wrecked. He doesn't slide and for a guy as small as him I see another missed start coming up as his success emboldens him to write checks his body can't cash.

On Sunday night, Steelers kicker Jeff Reed said he hopes to retire as a member of the Steelers.

If so, he’d better retire now.

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the Steelers have cut Reed and signed Shaun Suisham. Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Suisham was the only kicker brought to Pittsburgh for a Tuesday Gong Show tryout. He worked out for coach Mike Tomlin and director of football operations Kevin Colbert at Heinz Field on Tuesday.

Suisham made 18 of 21 field goals for the Redskins in 2009, but he was cut after missing a short field goal in overtime of a potential upset over the Saints. Suisham finished the season with the Cowboys, making two of three fields goals in two regular-season games and missing two of three in a playoff loss to the Vikings, including a 48-yard attempt that would have given the Cowboys a 3-0 lead.

As the team’s franchise player in 2010, Reed received a guaranteed salary of $2.814 million. If he’s claimed on waivers, Reed’s new team will have to pay him $1.15 million over the balance of the season. If he goes unclaimed, Reed will pocket the balance of his salary from the Steelers — and he’ll be able to get paid by his next team.

The Bengals currently don’t have a kicker on the roster. But we can’t imagine the Bengals paying any kicker $1.15 million for seven games.

Breathe, buddy, breathe. Until someone knocks the Jets off of their coarse (who the Texans have a great shot at next week) then the Jets remain a team that shows up. They might not be flashy, but winning the way they are winning in close, tight games are something that is defined by good football teams. If they find ways to lose, then I'd say they are slipping fast, but them pulling out W's with Santonio Holmes now coming on is a sign of a good team. If Mark Sanchez keeps playing the way he's playing, then the Jets will continue to be hard to beat, whether it be by 3 points or less or not.

As far as the Colts, what it comes down to me is stability at the QB position. If both of these teams meet today, then I'd take Manning every day of the week to put up some points against a Ravens secondary that should be tested by a Manning-esq arm versus Joe Flacco who struggles from time to time to ulitize his weapons and folds. The Colts have defensive ends that I could see getting to Flacco so right now, I don't see "Joe cool" being able to keep pace with Manning and his offense. Just my opinion for this week.

We don't disagree that Manning is a FAR better QB than Flacco, but I still say the Ravens are the more formidable team, thusfar. As for the Jets...they're a first round exit from the playoffs....GUARANTEED!

That's what everyone said last year too going into the post-season. I actually picked the Jets to beat Cincy AND S.D but Manning and the Colts got the better of them. I think the Jets might be one of those teams, maybe like the Giants in the NFC who can straight out beat teams physically, esp with the run game. Plus, the New Meadowlands will be ROCKIN' with a home playoff game.

I think this year is the decline of Peyton Manning. The Colts should start to fade from here on out. Flacco is better than Dilfer was but the Ravens Defense isn't quite good enough to carry them all the way. I see New England righting the ship and beating the Chargers (I'm predicting that KC and Oakland will choke in that division) in a shootout game for the AFC title.

I still like the Steelers to get to the AFC Championship game. In spite of their complete collapse the other night, they're still a very good team and a very tough team to beat when they decide to actually show up for the game!

Let's not get too carried away giving the Jets any home field advantage. You of all people should know better, considering that the Steelers were 6-2 last season and didn't even make the playoffs! There is a whole lot of football to be played and the season doesn't really begin until Thanksgiving. By the way, your prediction of 9 wins for the Patriots may come true by Thanksgiving

For sure about the Jets. Maybe the Jets won't get homefield, but if they host a home playoff game, it could get wild. I see the Pats have a very brutal schedule (Jets, Bears, Packers and Dolphins all will be tough) but they are a very patient and very consistent team and believe in their own philosophy to over-come adversity.

Dude, check yourself. The Bears are the worst 6-3 team to ever play in the NFL and the Fish don't even have a QB! The Pats can run the table in their next four.

Just like Mangini should have went for 2 at at the end of regulation against the Jets huh? Dude, you can be so quick and sharp, and yet at the same time be a horse's ass. The Pats will lose again, I can guarantee you that much.

The same Bears that stomped all over your near and dear, precious "OG" and the Vikings (who you claim will make a run and is as bad as it gets? Please.) The Bears have a defense and are playing similiar defensive ball that got them to the Super Bowl in '06. Not saying the Bears are SB material because their not, but those games are tough, and N.E travels TO Soldier Field. No gimmie. The Dolphins ALWAYS play the Patriots tough in the East and so do the Bills so expect those teams to use trickey against the Pats like the Browns did, so it's possible.

I'll use the statement everyone wants to throw around here lately and it tends to ALL 32 NFL teams: "You're as good as your record indicates!"

Fair points Trav- I knew you would hit back with that. As for OG, dude can't do it all himself.

And as for your "you are only as gopod as your record?" You really think Tampa Bay is a legit 6-3 team? Seattle is a legit team at 5-4? Meh, that's a stretch.

With that logic, if OG throws for 692 yards, Minnesota beats the Bears. Mangini doesn't get the 2 point conversion, then there isn't even overtime. You play to tie at home, win on the road.

Wow, how easy of an arm chair QB to make  S2M always going with the hypothetical and after the fact. Mangini has brought that Browns team back from the dead and the right thing to do in the situation as a football team is play for overtime, you know, against a team you weren't even supposed to beat? By the way the Jets were playing, I'm sure a 2point conversion NEVER, EVER crossed his mind and had his team geared up to go in it in "extra innings" because they sure as hell had a chance to win that game in O.T at that point in time.

Why put everything on a 2point conversion try that doesn't always work out in the offensive favor? Stop reaching for straws, the only call to make as a coach is kick the extra point and be hopeful in O.T. Bellichick wouldn't of even went for 2 and he's famous for his "4th and 1" stages.

That's the problem...and its not when they decide its IF they decide.

This EXACT scenario played out last year...and as a Steelers fan I HOPE you are correct and they will show up for games and make the AFC game...and HOPEFULLY not against Brady and Company.

I really had never seen a team come out that unprepared and listless, until last night and the Redskins...and then it was 2 teams that came out that way.

With Hillis in the backfield you can't get 2 yards? Please....he was playing not to lose, not playing to win. And Belichick would have went for the 2. That is totally an ego call...Belichick has brass balls. Mangini has grapes. Even Ryan would've had the ego to go for 2....ever hear that guy's pressers? He actually thinks he is the best coach in the league, and the jets are actually THAT good....
