I promise you that I was I will say this...the Patriots completely dominated the Colts in the first half. They were simply toying with them. But, as usual, their VERY suspect defense fell asleep in the second half. The Patriots defense is fucking dreadful, which makes all of these wins quite remarkable.

I disagree S2M. I know you follow the NFL, so you should know better than the casual football fan that teams who win games like this are VERY formidable down the stretch. I haven't been sold on the Jets, but you can't argue with the fact that they've now come back three straight weeks, which tells me that they're a mentally tough team.

I've been saying that about the Jets for WEEKS. I've always said that a teaming winning close games, ESP come form behind games could be more impressive than any blowout because you know what kind of team you have in defining moments of adversity and how they will respond next time their faced with it.

Here's the skinny: Patriots started playing prevent defense when it got to 31-14....and we know that the only thing a prevent defense does is prevent you from winning, AND a blown PI call on that Deion Branch drop right before Peyton drives for the score that made it 31-28....

Sorry dude, but if you're seriously defending this AWFUL Patriots defense week after week by saying they're in a prevent scheme, you really don't know football like I thought you did. This defense is fucking atrocious, period, end of story. As for the Deion Branch non-call, I also thought it was PI but after looking at the replay, the officials got it right. The defender arrived at the split second the ball arrived. Simply great coverage. If you think this Patriots defense is remotely good, you might want to watch Chicago or Pittsburgh play some defense, and I suspect you'll change your mind!

Yes, but coming back isn't a self-sustaining endeavor....the opponent has to fuck up as well. If a team puts itself in a 3 score hole. You could score on every subsequent possession and STILL lose....the other team MUST implode.

Actually it's playoff ball that are usually well matched games and usually come down to the nitty gritty. Why do you think you see teams gearing up to play THEIR way when it comes to January football (grind it out teams like the Steelers, Giants, or Bears are said to be great "January" teams because of the cold and their style in those elements and the ability to win those close, physical games)?

I disagree that the scrappers fall short in the playoffs. Usually, it's the teams in the middle of the season that are annihilating people & then "peak too early" in the season, only to bow out in the playoffs (Chargers & Colts are a perfect example of that.) Also, how many #1 seeds win a Super Bowl? Exactly.

Interesting question Dean. Obviously college football is HUGE in the south, but, living in Charlotte, I'd have to say NASCAR. The first time I watched the news when I moved there, I was STUNNED that they were talking about NASCAR on the news (and I'm talking about the news portion of the news and not even the sports segment). Living in Boston my entire life (prior to that ill-fated move), I couldn't believe it. The guy got thrown out and should have been thrown out of the game. That said, he absolutely does NOT have a history (and he's been around FOREVER) of being a dirty player, and I applaud Tomlin's comments about Seymour after the game. Polamalu tried to snap Brady's neck last week on the TD run and interestingly enough, I don't recall you getting on this board to talk about what a douche Polamalu was for doing something that was absolutely out of line.

The blame should be directed at Lewis. He lost that lockerroom a long time ago, and they have never recovered. I could definitely see Chilly fitting in nicely in Cincinnati. Chilly could be Offensive coordinator and they could promote Zimmer to HC,. lewis has to go. I suspect he will be gone by years end.

You look at this season, not only is Benson having a down year compared to last year, but the Bungles have gotten away from the run game as a whole, which pins the offense more on the arm of Palmer and the results have been nothing but gag-worthy. He was 282 for 466 for a completion rate of 60.5%. Not bad at all.He threw for 3,094 yards, again, not bad at all. His TD/INT ratio was 21 TD and 13 INT's, pretty solid. I would say those are Pro Bowl numbers either way you slice it, and I would also say he was an integral part to a pretty solid offense team last year.

I agree. Palmer simply isn't good and never has been. Many of the so-called experts tried to make this guy sound like the next great QB when the Bengals drafted him. Sure, he's had reasonable numbers a season or two, but he's been around forever and has sucked for all the other seasons. As far as 20TD's, it's an okay season, but nothing great. Fuck, it's not even a TD and a half per game. Maybe for two seasons, Palmer put up Troy Aikman like numbers (and this isn't a compliment because Aikman was as average as average gets as far as a QB is concerned), but that simply isn't good enough if your team never wins anything.
