I don't know, but HOW IN THE HELL CAN A TEAM WITH A LOSING RECORD GO TO THE PLAYOFFS, LET ALONE HOST A GAME?

The NFL is still far and away the best pro sports league. But, something does have to be done about .500 teams having home field advantage or worse yet, losing record teams going to the playoffs (and even hosting games).

I don't think the NFL is the best league, not at all. I DO like how the emphasis is on winning every week, but come playoff time, how the hell does the NFL beat MLB playoffs or Stanley Cup Playoffs? I guess it's a matter of taste.

I can't speak to hockey, but I don't care if the MLB has the most ingenius playoff system known to man (it doesn't... any sport in which the playoffs take nearly 2 months to finish has a shitty playoff system... NBA/MLB etc). The MLB is fucked six ways from Sunday due to the economics of the league. The NFL is the only pro league that consistently produces parity, surprise teams, and the potential for a winner to come from ANY market. For me, that alone is enough to make it far superior to MLB/NBA.

GO PACK GO... reach the playoffs... except that they play the Eagles... which is where the season started...and might be where it ends... I am happy with 10-6...especially when the season could have ended 8-8...

and the Seahawks WON their division...thats how its supposed to be...doesnt matter the record... so what if you are 10-6 and dont make the playoffs... if your 3rd place in your division and you lose to the other teams that are ahead of you that make the playoffs...thats just how it goes...and I have no issues with a team at 7-9 winning a division...and I also love the fact that only 12 teams make it...6 in each confrence... in NHL and NBA...that system is like playing a whole season... from 1st of April to MID JUNE with best of 5 crap to to best of 7 crap... NFL one and done is awesome... you dont get tomorrow... hell by the time NHL and NBA finals are played.. who cares...

Agreed. I don't think the playoff system needs changed. The only thing they need to tweak is record regarding hosting playoff games. In the Saints defense, even though they DO have to travel, they pretty much got a fucking BYE because no way, no how the Saints lose to Charlie Whitehurst and that terrible, embarrassing team in the Seahawks. Brees should be resting by the middle of the 3rd in this one next week.

I like all of your picks except the Chiefs. The Chiefs compiled their record against the little sisters of the poor this season and Baltimore is a much better team. I actually think the Patriots a are going to have a re-match with the Ravens in the playoffs, and even though I'd rather play any team in the NFL over Baltimore (and it's not because I think Baltimore is that much better than anyone), I still think the Patriots are the better team and win the game.

Basically, I'm just not sold on Joe Flaccid. And the Ravens 'D' is a poor characiture of itself. I'm thinking it'll be a close game. Probably in the area of 20-13, 17-14....something like that. Possibly the last team with the ball wins as time runs out....

and I'm SO fucking pissed at Collins for fumbling that ball....Titans had that game.

I've never been sold on Flacco. That said, KC's wins this season were against Denver, San Diego, Cleveland, San Francisco, Jacksonville, Buffalo, Arizona, Seattle, St. Louis, and Tennessee. Not one of those teams is over .500 and only Jacksonville managed to get to .500. As I said, they haven't played anyone and like Baltimore or not, they're at least battle tested. Unlike the Chiefs, Baltimore beat three (Saints, Steelers, and Jets)playoff teams this season and played the Patriots very tough as well. I just can't see the Chiefs winning this game.

I agree. Did you see this return by a fat guy on the Patriots a few weeks back? Greatest return in the history of the NFL by a guy over 300lbs!

Yeah, that return was epic.

Regarding Rex; how can you not like a fat coach who has fresh pizza sauce on his shirt giving a presser to the NY media? That is beyond Awesome. Dude's face is beat red from exhaustion(probably from mowing the entire pie himself), and his lettuce was all frayed up and sweaty...what's not to love about Rex? The guys continuously runs smack, all day and all night, plus his wife is fairly hot and super kinky.

I love Rex but don't think his act works in the NFL. His dad wasn't much different and it never worked much for him as a head coach. Remember his dead punching out Kevin Gilbride (at least that's who I think it was) on the sidelines? Classic stuff from Buddy.

Even though N.E makes me sick to my stomach in pretty much everything they do, I was watching this live and actually fist pumped when this happened. Something about seeing a lineman get recognition like this in his career always makes me feel good, and on top of it, a white boy with some moves haha.

What exactly does New England do that makes you "sick to your stomach"? Is it the endless winning or the constant throttling of Shitsburgh every time they play them?

I'll chime in and say this-that return by the G on the Pats was one of the best things I saw in the NFL this season. And, the Pats coming into Chicago and kicking the Bears ass----even before halftime.

I agree. I would feel the same way if it were ANY offensive lineman on any team in the NFL. It's simply never happened before where a 300lb guy ran a ball back that far. If only he could have got into the end zone!

I actually admire their winning ways & they've had their winning formula against the Steelers since 2001 so here in Pittsburgh we understand that because it's exactly what we do against opponents as well. It's the point of seeing Bill Bellicheat and his shady ways over the years and seeing nothing but media attention of non-stop ball licking with Brady and his "good looks" and watching that Colin guy on Sports Nation literally want to suck the jizz out of the guys cock at every show not to mention the league transforming protection for Tom Brady himself and Brady having the nerve to throw tantrums over everything. Follow that up by non-stop accusations against staff of Bellicheat's in recent weeks of being fined of cheating ways of another spy-gate (Daniels) and that ugly tripping of the Miami Dolphins player. People say "everyone does it" but it's funny that in some form of another, it's always someone who was officiated with Pats staff getting caught who is eventually fined or fired so it looks like Bellichick taught them well.

I've come across many New England fans and they literally are as arrogant as S2M and his non-stop banter of ridiculousness. Other than maybe Dallas, New England is the most hated sports franchise in pro football, hands down but I'm sure you don't give a fuck because if I was a New England fan, I sure wouldn't. Oh and by the way, watching them win the way they do makes it more hateful. Take the hate as a compliment. 8)

Trust me, I've always taken the hate as a compliment. As I've always said, you haven't arrived in this country until you're hated. The most hated teams in all of sports are always the ones who win the most. That's simply the way things go. As for Belichick and his "shady" ways...that's fucking hilarious. My stance on the taping incident are well-documented. It's been going on forever in football and will never end. As I've said before, my high school coaches taped our opponents. That said, you do realize that Belichick is 41-8 in the three seasons since the whole "Tapegate" thing, right? Now is probably also a good time to point out that 6 of those 8 losses came in a season he didn't have Tom Brady! As far as the tripping incident in NY...I have zero idea how you're connecting the Patriots to that, because that had absolutely NOTHING to do with the Patriots organization. I have zero problem with videotaping and wouldn't care if every one of the Patriots opponents videotaped EVERYTHING they did, but tripping a guy who is running down the sidelines is one of the most ridiculous things that I've ever witnessed!

People say "everyone does it" but it's funny that in some form of another, it's always someone from the Pats staff getting caught, fined or fired. I've come across many New England fans as well and they literally are as arrogant as S2M and his non-stop banter of ridiculousness.

I guess I worded it wrong with comparing Alosi with the Pats organization. It was just ironically connected to the last time we saw such a thing, which was when Belichick shielded his body from I think it was a Colts player who was blocked into the sidelines. It just seems like the Pats are always involved in some kind of mis-hap on the field OR assistants who came from the Pats organization afterword. I know that shit like video-taping happens in football but it's just funny noone else got caught than the Pats who were dumb enough to go right to the sidelines and use a camera on the field within play. Atleast keep it in the booth. The only thing shady about Belichick is his un-sportsmanship when the guy DOES lose (which you said, is 41-8 since the Spygate incident) but I've seen him snub the opposing coach many times and acts like a whino when he does have to shake their hand. It's just one shady feel when it comes to N.E but like I said, I actually respect N.E because you guys do so many things in common with Pittsburgh in building a team through draft, dealing with free agents, team unity, and top notch ownership.

The fact remains that Belichick gets the ire of so many people because he is successful. If it is fact that everybody else does the shit he's accused of - then why not make those instances public? Why don't we hear about Dallas, or Carolina, or even Seattle? Cause they aren't WINNERS. The only reason you hear about Belichick/Patriots is because they have success. Other baseball teams buy players...but because NY is a big market, and has had success - all you ever hear is the Yankees buy championships.

I guarantee you if another team in the near future goes on a run like NE has had recently - you will start hearing negative things about said team...

Noone's disputing that. Hell, before Belichick had his stint with the Pats from the start of this decade, he was a nobody bum whose resume was FAR from anywhere NEAR impressive. Since the NFL merger in 1970, there is no other team with a better win percentage than Pittsburgh (412-263-1 .608 winning percentage) so I get what you're saying. As far as the Dallas comment. That's absurd. I think Jerry Jones has most air-time since the start of this decade over any Super Bowl winning team and Dallas has only won one playoff game since 1996. Success is the staple of all franchise's and with that comes the heat from others fan base's. It's sports 101 and something I've always taken as a compliment. Right now at present time, it's New England and Tom Brady that are the most hated with the most Super Bowl titles within the last 10 years mixed in with some controversy that has most fan-base's with wide eyes that put the target on their backs with probably Pittsburgh and Indy a close 2nd and 3rd givin the same success's.

What exactly does New England do that makes you "sick to your stomach"? Is it the endless winning or the constant throttling of Shitsburgh every time they play them?

That's why I HATE the Pats. They're so good and they're real classy too. Everyone from Bellichik, Brady to the O line speaks well, respectful and intelligent. The entire organization is classy, much like Pittsburgh. These two organizations, along with the Packers, Red Wings, Penguins, Canucks, Lakers, Sperms, Red Sox, and Yankees are among the best in sports, IMO.

Exactly. Unlike the Jets, Eagles, or Ravens, the Patriots NEVER put their feet in their mouths and say anything stupid or provide them with any extra motivation. How many SB titles do those types of teams have since the NFL merger? Exactly one - the Ravens beat the Giants ten years ago. Otherwise, it always gets them in trouble.

The Pats are hated because they're successful, although not with the rabidity the Cowgirls once stoked in their enemies decades ago.

I'm damned proud of this team, because when my best buds and I used to make the trek from UMass to Foxboro in the late eighties, they were routinely finishing 2-14 or 1-15 under Rod Rust and getting outscored by about 25 points per game.

Oh, enough already. You can get exactly the same information and footage LEGALLY. Every other damned team in the NFL did it, and most still do.

Stop using it as a crutch - as though that dubious footage and the accumulation thereof was the only reason the Pats were ever successful. Their organizational philosophy is win at all costs, from top to bottom. THAT is why they will be regarded as perhaps THE greatest dynasty of all time if they win it all this year.

Yeah dude, this tapegate is a bit different than the Journey tape scandal. I don't have to break it down do I?

Well....by 1988 Flutie was the main QB, and although James was on the team, he wasn't the featured back, it was John Stephens, and Bob Perryman
