Anyone who watched the game knows this to be true. In all honesty, the Packers should have won that game by a lot, because the Steelers were fucking dreadful. That said, as awful as I thought the Steelers played, they still had a chance to win that game on the final drive. I didn't think they had any shot of driving for a TD on that final drive, but was still stunned that they were even in that position, given how they just didn't show up. I'm not as effusive in my praise of the Packers and Rodgers as Matt is. They were good, but they should have been a whole lot better, given the level of the competition and the opportunities they were presented with throughout that game.

I knew that was wrong the second I typed it and was just coming back to correct it. I knew that they won the first two Super Bowls, beat the Patriots in 96 season and then last night.

One more than you and I also.
When you are introduced as Superbowl winner Brad Johnson, Eli Manning, Joe Montana, John Elway, Trent Dilfer, etc. that's all that really matters.

I don't think that Trent sweats it that he doesn't have as many rings as Elway, or that Brady laments that Bradshaw and Montana both have more bling than him. It sure as fuck never seemed to bother Joe Namath.

Namath is only famous because of that and the fact that he was the first QB to throw for 4000 yards in a season. He was worse than Bradshaw.

My point is, even though it was one ring, he is recognized as a Superbowl Winner just like the others with multiple rings.
The lonely ring sentiment seems to be something that only YOU seem to have some bizarre awareness of, not the players themselves.

Well, it's not all that matters. Sure Namath has a ring, but I agree with the others that Namath was AWFUL. And yes, even he sucked more than Bradshaw!

While I don't disagree with you that Mendenhall's turnover was big, it wasn't the reason that the Steelers lost this game. As I said previously, it was miraculous that the Steelers were even in this game. The Packers did everything (namely dropping pass after pass) they could to allow the Steelers to hang around. Pittsburgh never once led and in my opinion, Ben is THE REASON they lost that game. He simply didn't play well and made far too many huge mistakes for his team to win the game.

This game has to fall back primarily on Ben. Losing Woodson should have given Ben a decent chance to make some things happen, and he just couldn't do enough. Dishonorable mention goes to the reigning Defensive PotY, Polamalu, who was shockingly ineffective not just last night, but throughout the whole playoffs. The guy is great, but he is injured far too often for my own tastes.

Point blank, the Steelers came out shaky, flat and completley uninspired. When they did get something going or even REMARKABLY going in for a go ahead score, they gave the ball away almost every time. They did NOT feel like the Steelers last night playing armchair quarterback AT ALL. They were rushed, they were slow, they were not in position and the defense played like it did in 2009. I expected the Steelers to play their brand but unfortunately for me, they didn't come anywhere CLOSE to it and let Green Bay take advantage of a very poor performance.

Coming back from 18 down was impressive, that just goes to show how good and resilient this Steelers team really is. They are never down, they are never out and even though they don't look pretty, they will always have a shot to win the game at the end. It's just GB played very solid and you can't whiff like that, in the Super Bowl, against any team playing with that kind of solid-ness. Pittsburgh played the way GB should of but it was the other way around. GB played calm, collective, confidence, ready and executed. Hats off to them.

That said, it was one helluva season. Getting to the big stage was an incredible feat considering noone even picked us to be even second within our division, let alone take the Conference. I'm very proud and very happy that all you could ask for is to just get to the big game and ANYTHING goes. ANY team could be beat and it just wasn't Pittsburgh's night. I can deal with it, Green Bay just didn't play mistake football.

It was fun. I enjoyed everybody I had over last night as well as coming to this board and breaking things down. Great NFL season, love GB's franchise and their tradition. I am very happy for their fans.

I'm going out to get a new Stillers jersey today in honor of a great season. 8)

FWIW Mike Munchak new coach of the Tennessee Titans.he was a hall of fame player and has coached offense under Jeff Fisher for a decade and a half.it has been said in that time he was very intense and dedicated and his car was always the last to leave the parking lot during the season.lets hope this dedication helps this team get better in the future.good luck to our new coach.

I heard on the radio this morning that Jeff Fisher was interviewed by the Rooney's in Dallas last night behind closed doors. Maybe LeBeau will finally hang them up and we anoint Fisher as D-coordinator. All speculation at this point but if Fisher's name is dropped, you think about defense.

What else matters besides winning? I'm not saying all these guys are great players but as Herm said, you play to win the game.
I had a substitute teacher in 1973 in Chester PA who was on that New York Jets team from Super Bowl 3. Obviously back then, players didn't make as much as they do now so when your career ended you still had to go out and get a job until you neared retirement age.
We got to see his ring and though it was cool for us a kids, it went to another level with the adults who saw it and acted like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. This player wasn't a starter, and readily told everyone as much but it didn't matter. That one ring signified Champion and this was long before the media attention and endorsements even mediocre players get now.

My whole argument is that to many players, I'm sure one ring is just as great as three rings and even if they didn't have the best game or whatever, as the long as the end result is a victory that's all that matters.
Even though there have been 45 Super Bowls, less than 20 franchises have actually gotten to be called Super Bowl Champions. Still a very select club to be in, whether you have one ring or four.

That's precisely my point...dude won a game. Big fucking deal. You do realize that Namath lost more games than he won over the course of his career, right? He also threw far more interceptions than TD's. Easily the absolute worst Hall Of Fame Inductee in ANY sport. How this fucker ever got a sniff of The HOF is something I'll never understand! Sure winning matters, but in my opinion, it doesn't count if there is no consistency to it.

Jimmy won 2 and was MVP of XV. He's with the rest of the Raider greats, Stabler, Branch, Hayes, Ray Guy and now Tim Brown. Paying the final penalty of being a Raider.

Well, if Namath is the measuring stick (God, fucking help us all), and he shouldn't be, then Plunkett is a Hall of Famer. I know Raiders fans believe Plunkett is a Hall Of Famer. I don't think he or Namath are HOF worthy. Both guys had marginal win/loss records (Plunkett was .500 for his career), and both guys threw more interceptions than TD's, which in my opinion should automatically disqualify ANY QB from HOF consideration! Honestly, Plunkett's career numbers are quite underwhelming.

Uh, look above?! Seriously, I'm already ready for next season. I hope the bargain agreement reaches an agreement. The Steelers still have most of the nucleus together for us to make another push within the next 3-4 years with our same personal before we rebuild point blank on the defensive side of the ball. I'm confident in the Steelers' future success.

Travis...you never have to worry about the Steelers. Sports teams success has ALWAYS come down to team ownership and as long as the Rooney family owns the Steelers, they will field competitive teams. As I've told you before, it's all about a team's ideology and how they do business and the Steelers have always done business the right way (if only I could say the same for their players)! On another note, knock off this "we" BS. It makes it sound like you have a fucking mouse in your pocket
