I wouldn't go so far as calling her hot, but she does look alot better than when she was going through her Dee Snyder phase.

As i posted in NFL thread, this is exactly why I do not go to bars any more, even though most of my friends still pretty much do that exclusively for socializing. I literally turn my friends down every weekend. I just got to the point where I was tired of spending money buying overpriced beers in crowded, nasty places while being subjected to awful music like this. I've heard every one of these songs millions of times at the bar. They're even worse live.

Horrendous. Absolutely positively horrendous. Even if she didn't botch the lyrics, were the vocal gymnastics really necessary? Perhaps it'd be best if Christina sticks to "Genie In A Bottle."

All this to say, I am sure someone on her PR team drew up this scheme. Perfect type of fiasco to help kick-start a fledgling career.

Can't anyone just SING the song? Why does every singer use it as some kind of vocal endurance test (for them and the audience).
I like Agulera (sp) and think she's a great singer, but man, one important part about being a musician is knowing when NOT to play or sing.

Besides the horrible urban yodeling, Aguilera didn't even know the lyrics and it wasn't even like some of them were all that close. Disgustingly awful.

Absolutely.

I have always disliked her as a singer for the exact reason people are hating on her today (apart from screwing up the words) - her ridiculous over-singing of everything. She was always nothing but "show" and not that much talent, if you ask me. I believe she *can* sing, as in she has a good voice, she just never learned what not to do, with all that carrying on of hers. This whole thing has brought up all kinds of internet posts about the top 10 worst anthem performances and this that and the other... it's pretty funny.

Bottom line, I never got why people dug her so much. This incident will hopefully make her knock it off with all that "singing".

 THANK YOU for posting this!!!!!

I have sung the National Anthem a lot over the last 10 years....BELIEVE me, it's NOT EASY  :x

I had a feeling she was sunk when she was acting like "Miss America" beforehand....smiling & waving to the crowd.
I'm like, "She's not focused....oh Good Lord."

Then, when she started, she SOUNDED LIKE A MAN....WHAT THE EFF?

After she screwed up, did you notice the change in her performance....on the hardest part - "And the rockets red glare"...?
She shifted into Vocal Overdrive.....SHE WAS PISSED!!!

This Song takes a BOATLOAD of focus to sing....she wasn't present. AT ALL. :x :x :x

It pisses me off TO NO END when Singers DO NOT RESPECT OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM!
It's NOT EFFING AMERICAN IDOL, FOR GOD'S SAKE - IT'S OUR COUNTRY'S NATIONAL ANTHEM - SHOW SOME RESPECT!!!

So many epically funny moments in that series. Nelson had such a captivating humor to him. One of the best of his time. Priceless.

:?

Ya know, I can understand Xtina getting raked over the coals for flubbing the words (a definite no-no), but the rest of it I just don't get. I mean, we're talking about Christina Aguilera here, right? Well...if you bring in a comedienne like, say for instance Rosanne Bahr, to do the National Anthem, you have no reason to expect anything other than a comedic interpretation. If you bring in Christina Aguilera, there will be some vocal jujitsu - and plenty of it. It is what it is.

Now, having said that, we at least have to give her props for performing live. She could have gone in the studio & cobbled together a "perfect" take & lipped it, but she didn't. When you perform live, stuff happens. Not to mention the National Anthem really is a difficult song. It's kind of all over the place, and if you're not properly prepared, the truth will find you...and that's when bad things happen.

I agree with Trag, she wasn't properly prepared. And it showed.

I wonder if the delay that other performers have said you hear in such a monstrous place like that had anything to do with her messing up. I can only imagine it's difficult if you're hearing your own voice come back at you for quite a few seconds after the words left your mouth.

A professional with vast experience, singing in front of a stadium full of people (and a HUGE TV audence), on a song most of us have known by heart since we were kids, to boot.

And she flubs it.

Pretty sad.

For me, the worst thing about it was that she changed the final note, which just sounded, well, stupid and self-indulgent.
