Andrew, is that number legit? :?

I may have to change the title to our annual NHL playoff thread to get rid of the "Loon Attack"

Can't believe Tampa Bay made the playoffs this year, and they play the Pens first round!! I wish so much I could get to a game, but not that weekend:( Well, at least I know for sure, it will be televised down here!!! :)

And I can't believe the Bhawks made it (through not much doing of their own) after that huge loss yesterday. Dallas is what put them in... we were on the edge of our seats watching the end of that Dallas/Minnesota game. I don't expect a 2nd cup win, but I would at least like to see them flatten VAN again - it's become tradidtion (unlikely, I know, with VAN being 1st seed, but I like when they make BobbyLu cry!).

I'm not sure about the Pens this year. I mean they've had SO many injuries including Crosby STILL out with his concussion. I'm not sure how far they'll go. I am happy for TB though! But I can't root for them over the Pens in that series!

Hate to say it but Crosby is pretty much done! He'll come back a few times take a couple more shots with more frequent concussions then be forced into early retirement ala Keith Primeau and Eric Lindros. Too bad.

I expect Tampa to be good for quite awhile. They have the ultimate winner/leader/Captain running the show. :D

The Canucks fixed their problems from last year (most of it pertaining to special teams,) and Roberto Luongo played less than 70 games this year thanks to a competent backup in Cory Schneider. I'm never sold on any goaltender in the playoffs that plays more than 70 games in the regular season because they tend to run out of gas come playoff time. But since Luongo only played 60, and because they've fixed their problems, I think the Canucks are the clear-cut favorite...pending some catastrophic injury.

Agreed! If it can't be Calgary, then it's gotta be Vancouver. Gotta bring that cup back to Western Canada! :D

#8 Rangers vs. #1 Capitals
Two strikes going against the Rangers. 1.) Henrik Lunqvist has started in 26 straight games going into the playoffs. Fatigue at some point will kick in. 2.) This is a 2-line team run by a coach who likes to roll 4 lines. The Capitals should be able to take advantage of their lack of depth. Caps win in 5.

#7 Sabres vs. #2 Flyers
I've got two different outcomes for this one. If Pronger comes back from injury, Flyers win in 6. If not, the I expect Ryan Miller to steal the series for the Sabres. He's overdue for a playoff series victory.

#6 Canadiens vs #3 Bruins
As mentioned, I don't like playoff goaltenders who start 70 or more games in the regular season. That leaves out Carey Price and the Canadiens. Bruins win in 6.

#5 Lightning vs. #4 Penguins
No Malkin? Possibly no Crosby? Fleury in net? Lightning sweep in 4.

Western Conference
#8 Blackhawks vs #1 Canucks
Chicago last year won the Cup primarily because of role-players who kept contributing to clutch goals. Those role-players are no longer with the team. Vancouver seemingly fixed their special teams, and Luongo comes into the playoffs much fresher, thanks to a competent backup goalie in Cory Schneider who started 22 games and gave Luongo much needed rest. Canucks in 5.

#7 Kings vs. #2 Sharks
Time to see if goaltending is the sole reason why San Jose hasn't won a Cup in their long history of underachiving playoff runs. I'd much rather blame Joe Thornton. It's a tried and true formula....Until they prove otherwise, I'm going with the Upset pick. Kings in 7.

#6 Coyotes vs. #3 Red Wings
Detroit are perrenial contenders. Phoenix have a lot of role-players, but no bonafide star goal-scorer. Detroit's top line should be able to expose that. Red Wings in 5.

#5 Predators vs. #4 Ducks
Nashville has to win one playoff series, don't they? But it won't be this one. They don't have a good power play to take advantage of Anaheims tendency to fill the penalty box. Ducks in 6.

I can't say I disagree, unfortunately. 5 games is my guess also, but I'm hoping that at least they take it to 6. We lost too many key players last year to hope for much more than round one, and even that was a fluke. I didn't expect Dallas to lose on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how game one goes tonight. The last 2 playoff series against VAN was some of the best hockey I've seen in a long time (apart from the 2010 Philly series of course!!).

Agree with this prediction. Im partial to the Flyers , but they've had a horrible March, seemed to have started ever since I went to Philly in early march to see a game (maybe I jinxed em)

Well, if you watched it, then you will admit(if you are honest, and a knowledgeable hockey fan) that Gomez totally dove on that supposed hook by Kaberle....and the phantom hook by Krejci on Subban neither made him flinch, nor affected the play....
