See you Wednesday..

Dig the shit out of your ears, Canadian Man. They were chanting "Luongo", "Luongo", "Luongo", and apparently it worked with that fucker. Dude is a fucking train wreck. I knew he was overrated, but to not even make it through half of the first period and get pulled in two Stanley Cup Final games is simply fucking embarrassing. If your team wins "The Cup", so be it, but cut the shit with "Thomas hasn't outplayed Luongo". Even Helen Fucking Keller could solve that riddle!

Wrong. The story you "read" had Luongo in it the entire time. He is gone this time, however, TT just stoned Hansen on a breakaway. Yeah, props to Timmy.

Vancouver should just keep drawing penalties... keep Boston on the PP and they won't have to worry about them scoring. :D

Wonder if Luongo will give Thomas some more goaltending advice in the postgame.

Another brilliant Vancouver writer. This moron Gallagher is actually advancing the premise that Luongo is a worthy MVP candidate! Really? Wow! I don't know how even the most die hard Canuck fan on the planet could say that with a straight face!

http://www.theprovince.com/sports/hocke ... story.html

Tony Gallagher wrote: It would appear that, win or lose, the Boston Bruins goaltender is about to win the award and become one of a six-member club -- mostly goalies -- who have walked away with the award as most valuable player in the playoffs while playing for a losing team. But is that really the way the voting should go? But if the Canucks win and Roberto Luongo has two, maybe three shutouts in the final, what is really the difference between Luongo and Thomas throughout the playoffs -- other than the fact it would be Lui hoisting the trophy? In this final series, it could be argued that Luongo has won three games and Thomas none, so far.

Yeah, the debate was settled last night. I was still wrestling with declaring a winner, but only because Luongo had the chance to close it out on the road and save face. He failed miserably and has proven to be about as mentally sound on the road as Andrea Yates in a nursery.

A loss is a loss, but he has undoubtedly planted a seed in his team's head, and I'm sure that, to a man, they're praying that there's no carry over effect into Game 7. On 2 of the goals, he actually seemed physically incapable of moving when the puck was shot. He almost looked paralyzed. And that's something I've never seen before. He was all butterflies last night.

Win or lose, the guy isn't really worth a fuck and is nothing more than an average goalie. Champions win on the road. They revel in ripping the hearts out of 20,000-100,000 fans. This guy? He shits his diaper.

Unfortunately that's true. Like Dean said, I'd start Schneider on Wednesday but we pretty much know that isn't going to happen. If they bank on the fact that Boston hasn't won on the road this series, let's hope they're right. I can't recall seeing Luongo crumble *that* fast. 4 goals in under 10 minutes... jesus, "shits his diaper" is putting it mildly. Something about the road for him - with Chicago, they only lost one at home and with San Jose they didn't lost anything at home. Clearly the guy is better in his own building.

Boston didn't do too well on the road with Tampa either.... I think we have 2 teams that are strongest on their home ice.

That usually goes without saying. The difference is that Boston was competitive on the road. The Canucks were outscored 17-3 on the road and that's simply putrid. Boston lost 3 games by one goal. There's a bit of a difference in the way each team has lost, wouldn't you say? However, in the end, 3 losses are 3 losses, and no one's going to remember Boston as being a competitive loser if they don't win it all. In fact, it might hurt even more knowing they lost 3 (and potentially 4) really close games. Tomorrow is gonna be cool. :)

That's right... I wasn't sure what the hell happened... I walked away from it for 5 minutes and all hell broke loose, came back and it was 4-0 and Schneider was in. Ok, well then 3 goals in under 9 minutes... that's still pretty bad!! Something with this series, every game that I've not been available to watch, VAN wins. Every time I have turned it on, Boston has won. So I'm not allowed to watch on Wednesday! :(

So where is this vaunted Canucks team everyone was talking about? Did Boston and Vancouver change jersey's? From what I've seen so far this series, Boston is out-classing the Canucks in all fazes of the game. Scoring chances are there for both teams, how many whiffs can one team actually make? There were atleast 4 open nets last night that both teams seem to miss but Boston's ability to score at home is incredible while the Canucks have been playing at one speed the whole series on the road while Boston turns it up a notch.

As far as the debate between Thomas and Luongo, it's a no brainer. Thomas is putting him to shame. What a disgusting performace by a goalie in the finals against a very inferior team on paper. If I had to pick a team that is deserving of the cup overall, it's clarly the Bruins but they have to seal it as a road victory in order for that to take place.

I'm a firm believer in a pitcher carrying a team at the peak of his ability in the major leagues as well as the goalie in the NHL. When a certain goalie is on fire, everything else follows. It doesn't matter what talent is on the ice if your goalie is carrying you so in the Canuck's case, they better hope their talent picks up the slack or Boston will take this on the road. Great series.

Lightning Rank #2 Overall In ESPN The Magizines Ultimate Standings
Mike Corcoran
Bookmark and Share

The Tampa Bay Lightning got some national recognition in a big way today when ESPN the Magazine named them the Number 2 franchise in all of sports, with only the defending Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers beating them. Here is a small part of the press release sent out by the team:

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been named the No. 2 franchise in sports according to ESPN The Magazine’s ninth annual “Best Franchises in Sports” rankings, in this week’s “Best in Sports issue” on newsstands Friday, June 17. The Bolts finished behind only the NFL’s Green Bay Packers. The Lightning made the largest jump of all teams, improving 68 places from No. 70 last season. The NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies were second, improving 66 places.

The “Best Franchises In Sports” feature is part of ESPN The Magazine’s Ultimate Standings methodology study, which determines an overall ranking for pro sports franchises according to how much they give back to fans for the time, money and emotion they invest in them.

“The best teams in sports find ways to reward their fans’ devotion,” said ESPN The Magazine editor, Peter Keating. “The teams at the top of our Ultimate Standings are winners on the field, but, as we write in the magazine, they’re truly notable for returning fans’ love—keeping core players, discounting tickets, investing in their communities. Value, both economic and emotional, has always figured prominently in our rankings, but this year we heard louder than ever that a team’s commitment to its fans matters more than anything else, more than even new stadiums and championship rings.”

So why is this a big accomplishment? Think about it for a second, this was not just something where NHL teams were pitted against one another. No, this stacked all the teams from all four sports. The Lightning beat out the likes of the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox, the Dallas Cowboys, the Miami Heat, the L.A. Lakers, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Boston Bruins.

Quite an accomplishment for a team that is one year removed from a new ownership taking over, and giving the fans and the city something it could be proud of once again.

And to think, it has the potential to get so much better as time goes on.

Hoseshit. Tampa is a terrible sports town that doesn't even support pennant-winning and Super Bowl teams, let alone mediocre hockey clubs.

Wow. Luongo looked like shit on that last goal.

I can barely watch this game. I've been living and breathing the Bruins for 40 years - in fact, the first game I went to was in '74.

It's FAR from over. The Canucks have the most offensively explosive team in hockey.
