ya funny considering it was Jon who liked J.. and Schon who F'd Jeremey..

THIS is hilarious..

Arnel, have you ever met Steve Perry?

Pineda: No, but I've been wanting to. I hope I can sing with him, you know, side by side. If he would welcome that. That would be awesome. I think, especially the hard core fans, they would love it.

Schon: We could definitely do "An Evening With" and make it a long show.

What happened to "fuck him"?

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I didn't take it that way, really....They have a story to sell, whatever. He said it was neat, so cool for me, LOL...As far as giving me a new song to sing and not being able to do it? I just have to chuckle at that for about 38 different reasons. I really don't care, I've said for years that I was happy for Arnel.

My take is that whenever I hear Jon talk about the Perry impersonators, I think he's talking about Hugo - not Jeremey. But you would know better than me, JH.

My impression, just from knowing the circumstances around the time, was that he was referring to me and my little jaunt to California to "audition." Since then, the company line has been that while I was looked at for the job, they didn't want a tribute "clone" because I was just too similar to Perry, and it was just too creepy. Again, there are a lot of holes with that line of thought, but in media soundbites, it isn't meant to be analyzed or dissected so it works just fine. So, according to the lore, just so we are all on the same page: (1) JSS didn't sound enough like Perry, and they wanted to go back to their "legacy" Journey sound (2) Jeremey sounded too much like Perry and it was just too creepy and (3) Arnel sounded just enough like Perry but he could also sing Bon Jovi and Whitesnake, so he was versatile enough to cover whatever else was thrown his way (which to this date has been Perry covers, aside from the occasional post-Perry live performance).

Wow, its makes me sick to my stomach that Steve Perry passed perhaps the greatest musical opportunity in Journey's career by not singing on the grammys. Those opportunities dont come around very much, especially for a band that the critics hate. That appearence could have shot TBF to the #1 spot.

Yeah? And then what? They don't tour behind it anyway. What's the difference? Singing on the Grammy's wouldn't have changed critics' opinions of them one iota.

Singing on the grammys is a huge honor, especially for a rock band that the media loved to hate. Even if they dont tour behind it, lets face it, millions and millions of people would have been watching Journey. They would have been exposed to more people with one song on the grammys than touring. Touring cant even compare to the exposure Journey would have gotten. Thirty some million viewers vs. maybe a million people on tour, doesnt even compare.

One appearence on the grammys for 5 minutes could have changed TBF album sales immensely.

I agree. And since he hadn't had the surgery yet, you have to wonder what it would have taken to make that one appearance. Was their commitment there?

Performing on The Grammys really isn't a "huge" deal in the whole scheme of things...just ask Jake Schlicter of Semisonic LOL...anyway they likely could have lip synced it and I doubt that the "performance" side of it would have been an issue unless Perry was having serious mobility issues. Sure Cain and Schon could have raised a stink about it but ultimately if Perry felt too exposed or embarrassed about making a huge comeback by walking onstage with a cane I couldn't really blame him. If there really was an offer to perform at The Grammys. Who knows with these guys LOL.

Nice to see some Augeri acknowledgement (the shooting scenario, ala Selena, is scary). Also good to see Schon correct the VH1 BTM.

When You Love A Woman had already peaked in sales and chart position two months before the Grammys. An appearance there might have moved another 100k in TBF albums at most, just like it used to do for other acts that performed on the show. Now days, if your name is not Adele, even selling 20k after a Grammy appearance is a good week.

Journey wouldn't have all of a sudden become world busters again because of one five minute performance. The Beatles, Eric Clapton, and the duet Natalie Cole performed with the Digital version of her father was all the media was interested in that night, Steve Perry singing wasn't going to change anything.

Got to believe the Perry talk is just to hype the movie and get people thinking about Journey as the summer tour season begins. Seems this happens regularly at strategic times.

I won't be holding my breath. However, thinking about it, it sure would be one hell of a final tour.

there seems to be a photo of Steve Perry at the Giants/Mets game in NY last Saturday that's circulating. The movie ran all weekend in Tribeca. Coincidence?

bingo...

"When they can't sell on their own merits.... invoke the name of Perry.."...

I'm sure SP doesn't mind, all the way to the bank...

Let's also revisit how Schon threw Augeri under the bus and made sure we all know JSS was the "real deal" (and he is) Remember THAT interview?

He threw Steve A. under the bus to me many times personally. Schon is a piece of human feces.

I really hope that hose bag from the Resonate video gives him the crabs.

It's become so hard to care about anything beyond the music iteself with this band for a couple years now. I have liked ALL versions of Journey for different reasons. I loved Revelation and liked Eclipse, the best album post perry IMO was Arrival. The odds of SP ever performing with this band again are about the same as having the wining Mega Millions ticket! LOL

Add to that, Journey is not the live band they once were. Why should I as a longtime fan pay good money to go and hear the same 12 songs I hear at every concert with Neal's excessive noodle-fest thrown in? I've got a lifetime of Journey music to be thankful for. Will I buy their next album if there is one?... Yes. But I'd have to get a super sweet deal on a pair of tickets or have them play with another band I truly would love to see live to go to another concert in the near future.

Bottom line... I really dont care what the members do personally within reason. I just like the music. On a side note... the best thing to come out of Jeremey's time with Journey was that HIS band got more exposure and we got a really great solo album from Jeremey as well. :D

I love, love, love Jeremey's album. I tell all my friends and relatives about it. I hope it sells enough to where he can give us another one. If he could get to the west coast, trust me, my ass is in a seat.....or on my feet! :D

The little tidbit about SP not wanting to perform WYLAW at the grammy's is not "new" news. Seems Jon and/or Neal like to toss that out from time to time...along with..."the reason we haven't toured Europe for so long is because of Steve Perry!"

In light of these recent interviews, I'm going to have to reverse my supposition that the guys have moved on from their past issues with each other....lol
