On Saturday, retired Army Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer told Fox News that according to his sources, President Obama watched the assault on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, from the White House as it took place.

“This was in the middle of the business day in Washington, so everybody at the White House, CIA, Pentagon, everybody was watching this go down,” he said on Fox News’ “Justice with Judge Jeanine.”

“According to my sources, yes, [President Obama] was one of those in the White House Situation Room in real-time watching this,” he added.

Stars & Stripes is also now reporting that President Barack Obama will nominate Army Gen. David Rodriguez to succeed Gen. Carter Ham as commander of U.S. Africa Command and Marine Lt. Gen. John Paxton to succeed Gen. Joseph Dunford as assistant commandant of the Marine Corps, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta announced Thursday.

It is highly irregular for this to occur when they are deployed... as both are deployed in the Middle East....

Scuttlebutt is that this was due to this strike force commander (Gen Ham) disobeying orders when he ordered his forces on 11 September to “assist and provide intelligence for” American military forces ordered into action by US Army General Carter Ham, who was then the commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), against terrorist forces attacking the American Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. General Ham had been in command of the initial 2011 US-NATO military intervention in Libya.

“The information I heard today was that General [Carter] Ham as head of Africom received the same e-mails the White House received requesting help/support as the attack was taking place.

General Ham immediately had a rapid response unit ready and communicated to the Pentagon that he had a unit ready.

General Ham then received the order to stand down. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow.

Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command.”

If Obama gave the "stand Down" order... and if he was watching it real time then there's no fucking way he DIDN'T.... then he needs to answer for it.

Obama left 3 Seals out there to die, when a ready team could have been there in less than 2 hours.

Part of me says ok, there is a good explanation for all of this. But his absence on this causes me to think maybe there isn't. I've never seen a president so quiet on such a large issue as this. You'd think he would want to come out and address it head on. But he deflects any question he gets, which are few.

The media on this is sickening. Total turn off.

This may not affect the election, but Obama's first year of the new term is going to be all about this. The media may not care. The people may not know enough to care. But congress will care.

Regardless of the polls, my feeling is Romney either wins fairly easily or it'll be so close that it'll be at least next Wednesday before we know a winner. I wouldn't even be surprised if this thing goes to the House of Representatives (meaning Romney would win, of course).

I was talking about the last PRESIDENTIAL election. Rasmussen came in first, followed closely by Ipsos.

Anyway, I'm not really trusting ANY polls at this point. I think it's most likely going to be a close call either way. The Intrade system actually has Obama winning right now and that's been fairly accurate in the past also.

The Rasmussen Difference

In 2012 as in 2008 and 2010, Rasmussen has been the nation's most prolific polling organization at the state level. Almost every day Rasmussen produces two or three new polls of key battleground states in the presidential election along with their national tracking poll. But in addition to being the nation's most prolific pollster, Rasmussen gets a lot of attention, especially from conservative media outlets and pundits, because its polls consistently produce results more favorable to Republican candidates than the overall averages -- results that frequently don't match the actual election results very well. In 2010, for example, Nate Silver rated Rasmussen as the least accurate and most biased of all polling organizations that conducted a large number of state polls.

So how is Rasmussen doing this year? Along with its national tracking poll that has typically showed Mitt Romney with a lead that is two to three points larger than the overall average, Rasmussen's polls in the battleground states have also had a consistent Republican lean. I compared Rasmussen's latest results in the nine key battleground states -- Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, New Hampshire, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nevada and North Carolina -- with the overall averages from the HuffPost Pollster -- an average that includes Rasmussen polls. In every case, Rasmussen's poll showed a better result for Romney than the overall average. The Republican lean of Rasmussen's state polls ranged from one point in Nevada and two points in Florida to four points in Wisconsin and five points in Colorado. Across all nine states, Rasmussen's polls favored Mitt Romney by about three points more than the overall average.

Three points of margin is a very significant difference in a close presidential election. If you were basing your perception of the state of the presidential election entirely on Rasmussen's polling, you would now see Mitt Romney as a clear favorite. According to Rasmussen, Romney is now leading Obama in five of the nine key battleground states, tied in three and trailing in only one --Nevada. In contrast, the HuffPost Pollster averages give a very different picture of the state of the presidential race with Obama leading in seven states and Romney leading in only two -- North Carolina and Florida. To be sure, Obama's lead in some of those seven states, such as Virginia and Colorado, is very small. But so is Romney's lead in Florida. It is clear that Rasmussen's polls give a very different impression of the presidential race in the nation and in the battleground states than the overall averages.

In 2012 as in 2010, Rasmussen is producing polls in key states that are significantly more favorable to the Republican candidate than an average of all polls in those states. Perhaps this time Rasmussen will prove to be more accurate than the average. But outliers like Rasmussen usually turn out to be wrong and Rasmussen's track record certainly shouldn't give election watchers much confidence in their results. Maybe that's why Fox News stopped using Rasmussen for their state and national polling this year. Producing polling results that please one side or the other may work for a while, but eventually journalists and voters catch on to the fact that those results don't seem to match the numbers on election night.

Fact is both sides have to have cheerleaders talking down some polls , talking up some others, so their partisans don't get discouraged and fail to turn up at the polls. If I had to trust anybody Id trust Gallup their presidential election polling has historically been the best.

Unfortunately, folks are both sides are following this like it were some sort of sports match? It shouldnt be - it should be about a debate over ideas. What your team not make the world series? Ice Hockey strike getting you down? You can always find something else to watch. Check out the local university womens volley ball team in your home town. Its in season. Not only will you see a back and forth game with a see - saw score, some of the them ladies look pretty hot in their uniforms their jugs bouncing up and down when they go for a spike.

This is not going to turn out good for the president and his administration, especially if reelected. While only a portion of the public may care, congress is not going to let this go. When Senators and Representatives use words like "lies" and "cover up" so publicly toward a sitting president, it's usually because they are pretty certain something is wrong.

I thought at first that if he had of just come out and talked straight, that would have been the end of it. But based on many things I've heard over the last couple years, there are many people in various areas of the government that simply do not like Obama and are willing to leak info to hurt him. As far as I am concerned, those people should be found guilty of treason, well-meaning as they may be.

I know Obama wants to just delay response to this until after the election, and for good reason. And maybe he can. But his approval rating is down 7 or 8 points in just over a week and I can't think of any other reason than Libya.

And where are we with he investigation and getting the bastards that did this? Maybe there is progress, but since no one is talking, we simply don't know.

And the media - I am so absolutely disgusted with them. We used to have the best journalists in the world. Now we have only those that represent republicans and democrats. You can't watch Fox without thinking Libya was the worst thing that's ever happened and you can't watch any other station at all if you want any news on Libya. Where are the old school journalists digging and presenting facts, no matter what they reveal? Fox has done a lot of great reporting on this and finding sources and pushing the ball forward, but then it's accompanied by all the other nonsense commentary.

I've actually decided I may stop reading certain sources over this. I can't take a news source seriously if this isn't even a small topic.

There was lots of information on Libya in the last couple days. Turns out the president was likely watching the video in real time. Turns out he would have had to give the order to stand down. Turns out the consulate was likely a depot for transferring arms to Syria. Turns out several senators are asking for the video feed to be declassified. Turns out orders were disobeyed in order to save lives. Hearings have been scheduled for the 15th. The President was asked by a local reporter twice if help was denied and did not answer. The president commented today with another non-answer. And above all, you have the father of the slain former seal making very emotional and controversial statements to and about the white house.

Now - go to CNN.com or Huffingtonpost.com as I have done for the last several days, hit ctrl-f to search the front page. Type in the word Libya. And see zero results. Then look at how many headlines they pack on their pages. Look at what they ARE reporting on.

During this same time period, if you had of tuned in MSNBC, all coverage 24-7 was on abortion and then the storm.

NBC had nothing on their site though I have not checked today. CBS had one thing a few days ago, same as ABC. MoveOn.org has nothing.

I don't care if your parents are Michael Moore and Madonna, no matter how liberal you are you have to be truly disgusted with the lengths the media will go to in order to protect "their" president. Yes - many on the right are on a witch hunt. And I expect totally liberal organizations to protect democrats. But there is no reason whatsoever this should not be on ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN. None. And so we have to ask ourselves, do we really know the truth about everything?

Think about a person only getting their news from Limbaugh or Hannity. Well the mainstream news has become the same damn thing. Sad.

He never got credit from republicans for killing Bin Laden. They have websites and FB pages that is all about how Obama deserves zero credit for killing Bin Laden cause he had nothing to do with it.

I don't think that's an accurate analysis. I think Obama made two very correct, but risky decisions in regards to Osama. Number one, he ordered military troops to attack inside a nation without permission (though I think maybe there was always an unwritten OK there). Number two, he killed that mother fucker and had no intention whatsoever of a capture. No sense in wasting a penny more on that piece of shit.

As far as spiking the football, the president generally uses the word "I" an awful lot and it came come across wrong. But I think there was enough credit to go around. Working with Hollywood to release classified details - impeachable offense that will go nowhere. The number one thing is the guy is dead. That trumps all.

But, I think everyone realizes that 10 out of 10 presidents would have probably done the same thing. As far as Romney's not moving heaven and hell remark, I think he recognized that it could be difficult to find someone hiding in another country and was keeping expectations low in case he was president. But given the same facts Obama had in front of him, I don't think anyone doubts Romney would have made the same call, as would Bush, Clinton, and yes, even Carter.

As far as inaction on Libya. All I can say is that if he was watching the live feed, and if help was requested and it was turned down, and if 30 Americans were saved only because a former seal disobeyed orders, and then Obama went to Las Vegas and blamed a video, then he is going to facing some serious problems.

No one blamed him for action with Osama. They just felt he took too much credit.

What about the CNN report today that October's job numbers will likely not released until AFTER the election. Supposedly there isn't time to get the data together.. They are supposed to be released on Friday.
