I'm not sure how much fraud, waste, and abuse has to be seen by some to realize it's just an impossible scenario, unless you want to end up in a completely socialist environment. And when that happens, it's still something that is not sustainable.
I wonder what the US will look like once all the baby boomers are gone. Maybe with a much smaller population, this will be easier. I don't know. All I know today is that the system is broken. Neither side has any answers. Too many people want something for nothing now. And our health care in this country is about to endure an overall major decline for a lot of people. Hopefully it will be better for some to offset that.
There are a lot of gainfully employed people that qualify for food stamps. The biggest employer in this country is churning out billions in profits each quarter, and can't pay their employees a living wage. Not to mention any benefits. Our whole airline, who used to pay decent wages to it's employees is probably now about 40% outsourced. These outsourcing, labor pool companies pay 1/3 what employees were making before companies like American Airlines, Delta, United and such decided to abrogate labor contracts through the use of bankruptcy. Everyone keeps giving labor unions a black eye, but if you'll notice, the pay disparity problem in this country grows as the labor unions shrink. The biggest mistake everyone made was buying into all of the false propaganda people were being fed by big business about labor unions. Another problem is illegal immigrants. They work for peanuts, which drives down the wages of the legal workforce. The ONLY reason illegal workers are allowed to stay in this country is because big business wants them here for the extremely cheap labor. Then big business screams and cries that they're barely making it. All I can do is shake my head.
wow Rick.. illiterate much?
We're heading towards 3rd world status because our Congress continuously made it easy for business to move American manufacturing jobs to where??? --------------------------------->>>>>>
3rd world countries.. Think about that for a minute. And seriously, illegal immigration is the "Great cause" of the demise of wages?? Let's examine what you are saying from a factual basis...
From the DHS Yearbook of Immigration Statistics FY '2009:
- LEGAL immigration: 1.1 Million annually (est),
- ILLEGAL immigration: 500,000 (est)
The U.S. population is 314 Million people, and growing at 1% a year. That's 3.14 Million vs. 1.7 Million TOTAL immigrants
per year.. so according to you, the illegal immigrants, less than 1/2 of 1% of the population.. is affecting wages for everyone..
Think about that for a minute. The problem in this country is not immigration (legal or illegal) "Driving down wages"... it is our government (CONGRESS) continuously subverting and abrogating the original intent of the Founders and the Framers in our education system, our culture and our society...
at the behest of big business.... CLUE: Like Congress letting them source their labor outside of the U.S. without penalty, the consequence of it being more people chasing fewer jobs..... which drives down wages.
So clearly attacking immigrants (legal or illegal) solves none of that.
Stop blaming immigrants (legal or illegal) for what we Americans have brought on ourselves.
