If this is the case, the article was written using a bad choice of words. Written as: "....believing that his election win would put an end to her having to pay her own gas and mortgage bills?" makes it sound like she wants something for nothing, the typical entitlement crowd of USA. A better more accurate choice of words would have been written more like, "believing that his election win would allow for her hard-earned money to go further".
