No one actually knows.
One user posted here some months back, that he met Marc and asked him. The user did not report the exact answer, he just mentioned that it was very straightforward...
Maybe we could ask the user in private. Anyhow, I don't like to play this game, I won;t beg him to tell me something he considers a private conversation. But I can't understand what implication would he have in writing it down for us on board.

Might be due to an illness, did he had to undergo some sort of treatment? I am just guessing here. That would be consistent with the whole camp wanting to keep it private

It might be true, but I wouldn't be that sure. It's not like Marc is putting up a new band or is joining another band to replace the Survivor gig. If he was still there up till 2014 means that he went over stuff like bullshit etc.
It would be interesting to talk to him
