Monker wrote:It's getting a bit late for a single. My instinct is they have a single out by the end of the week, or the album is delayed.
But, I am just guessing.

You may have forgotten but I was @ the Cotton Bowl Texas Jam show. Cahils, Tommy & JY’s rendition of what happened was either the greatest exaggeration of a few events or a complete bold face lie.
Dennis getting the boot was about nothing but $$$$$$$. Tommy & JY needed it and Dennis couldn’t tour.
I love the current band. But still they totally fuc ked over a founding member and arguably the member most responsible for their success to steal control of it.
yogi wrote:I was there the year before too when Journey was the headlining act. Same exact type of day. Hot as hell, restroom issues galore etc.... Only difference's they didn't ANNOUNCE over the PA that beer sales would be cut off immediately (before Styx hit the stage) & fights on the infield late in the day @ Styx headlined Jam. Thousands upon thousands left after Santana played also. They saw who they came to see and after a long hot hot day they left. Again, thousands left Styx but 90% that left, left before Styx EVER HIT THE STAGE. Just like the previous year when Journey headlined.
Again 90%+ % that left, left before Styx ever took the stage. That’s all I ever said.
yogi wrote:The Kilroy concert was a GREATEST HITS show just like most bands usually play. You got all the Styx hits plus an 15 minute video leading into one of the hit songs from their latest album. After that you got maybe a total of 5 minutes of acting, and 3 more songs from their current album.
I’m guessing that if true, back stage long before Styx ever took the stage Tommy saw the bands that preceded Styx and was scared of the Styx overall catalog and how Styx’s music wasn’t nearly as hard rock centered. Still the bottom line of what actually happened was thousands of fans did leave but again they left before Styx ever took the stage. The year prior thousands of fans left after Santana closed their show and before Journey took the stage. Same exact type of day & the same thing happened to Journey the year prior. Only real difference is they never announced to my knowledge that beer after Santana closed that the TX Blue Laws would be enacted ending beer sales immediately right after Santana concluded like they did after Sammy Hagars encore. We’ve discussed this for years I’ll never read what happened any other way. Cause I know for a fact 90% of the fans that left, left before Styx ever took the stage.
Monker wrote:Well, it sounds like they are not touring in support of a new album this summer. So, I would not expect this album to be released until this Fall now...maybe September/October....imo. Maybe perform a preview of a song during the tour to promote the album....maybe.
From the Styx facebook page:
This summer, we're bringing The Grand Illusion to life, performed in its entirety + the hits for the first time in the amphitheaters and arenas. Monker wrote:To me, that does not make sense. I would want a tour dedicated to the new album so they can play as many new songs as they want. If they are playing the full GI album, they are not going to play more than a couple songs, probably only 1. I would want a short break after the GI tour. During the break, release the single(s) and album, and an indoor tour during the Fall/Winter/Spring. If they do not do something like this, then I can't see the new album selling very well at all...not even close to the last two which had good touring support.
