With as old as Sly is getting, he needs to find a way to connect to a younger crowd. Old music (or old "style" music) will not do it to the extent "Hollywood" would look for. I agree that "our" music would fit better...and it might even sell better because of that fit. It also is a proven fact that "classic" rock is in an upswing. But the conflict is that we "older" fans want new music by our favorite older bands while the younger crowd that DOES accept classic rock ONLY accepts the classic side of it. They want the songs they were raised on by their parents. they want the stuff that everyone lists as influences. They want the legend stuff. Meanwhile, the bulk of the money-spending audience still wants to hear the crap that gets played on the radio...
