1978 was the year i became a serious music lover. so many good albums that year!

Oh, and no cracks about how dorky the "Bee Gees" are - they were unbelievably talented and you know you loved their songs back then.

I'm a thirty-three year fan, loved them before Saturday Night Fever and would walk through fire to defend them.

And I'm not high OR retarded so we can skip that question!

Ah...now I see the problem. While they were all over the airwaves, the only album released in '78 was the soundtrack to Sgt. Peppers.

No cracks about that, either

In Oakland? I saw them there in '76, '79 and at the Shoreline in '89. The year the SPIN packages started for FTLOSM ('84?) I could have flown to Miami for a benefit and met them all; they hung out with fans all day and Maurice did a cruise with the fans. Hubby said no, and now I could kick myself for not insisting.

So when it came time for Puerto Rico - HA! I told him he better NOT stand between me and SP!

Only Grease came out in 1978. I know, as Olivia Newton-John was the first chick I ever wanted to do dirty things to (but only the version in the black leather, at the end of Grease) Saturday Night Fever (the movie and the soundtrack) were released in 1977. As for the poster who mentions the Bee Gees...I couldn't agree more. I thought those three guys were BRILLIANT musicians, and their work extended WAY beyond just recording music. They wrote MANY hits, for other artists. The Bee Gees might be the most formidable trio in the history of music, and I wasn't even into disco music!

VH of course got my vote, again, another 70's band I didn't get into until I was in high school in the early 80's. I still to this day got my Van Halen Van Halen LP and CD. And the BeeGees, yep, they were as much part of the late 70's as anyone, and according to wiki, the BeeGees were the best rated band in the world in 1978. The first time I ever saw them was when I went to the movie theater and saw Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It was by chance during this movie that I had seen Aerosmith for the very first time. They did "Come Together" by the Beatles. At the end of this song I recall Steven Tyler fell off the stage and died in the movie.

But to this day I've not seen Saturday Night Fever yet I know it was a huge movie and the soundtrack played a major contributor to the late 70's Disco movement.

yup, saw the bee gees at oakland coliseum. my seats were at the furthest point from the stage. this was before journey started the trend of video screens, so it was kinda disappointing seeing them as little dots on the stage.

i really regret not going to the SP show in puerto rico.

Steve Perry singing in the pouring rain - damn! Good memories and lots of friends made. I managed to maintain a very mature, conversant facade until he moved to the next table at the Hard Rock and then I ordered the STRONGEST margarita on the menu. Lord knows I needed it!

That sucks big time I think. I've always gotten a seat within the first few rows from the stage, but I've only been to concerts in Tokyo and no where else. I don't think I'd go if I was so far that the stage looked like stick people on it. That to me would blow because I want to see them up close also.
