Do you consider Coopers a good Australian Beer? I know how you feel about Fosters so we won't go there. It's a bit expensive for a sixpack so I want to get an idea if it's decent.

Cascade is probably the one Australian beer I'd take over Coopers. Possibly James Squires.

Pretty much. Victorian beer is all modelled on the Fosters line though (there is worse than Fosters, it's called VB - Victoria Bitter) Some is good, some is bad, some is average and some is fucking awesome!

Tasmania and South Australia have quite a lot of decent small breweries, with Tassie taking the edge because of the cooler climate.
