(this is the actual show I was at).
I dug the opening band- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kmLmjz_cFs
They mostly got booed though by the other 11-16 year olds that were there.
I went with 2 of my friends that were brothers, (and their parents) since none of us were old enough to drive.
I can't believe it was almost 32 years ago!

My parents dragged us kids to a Dickey Lee concert when I was 8, but I really don't count that. My first concert of free will was April 1986 The Hooters and Loverboy. Loverboy came to our Ribfest last summer and I had an interview with Mike Reno and I mentioned the above fact. He's like, "Hey, I remember that tour". Then I said, "You're not touring with the Hooters anymore are you?"![]()
I remember contemplating a trip to Sioux Falls for that last May but never made it. Do they usually bring in bands like Loverboy, etc.? If they're able to book a good band I might have to make a trip down for it this year.
You would have had quite the experience, it stormed like a BITCH and they shut it down only to open it up an hour or so later when they had the all clear. Loverboy didn't hit the stage until 10:30, but the show went on. The year before that, it was Kansas and before that Joan Jett, .38 Special etc, so yeah, they get some pretty good bands in there.

Day By Day, And We Danced, Where Do The Children Go...
just sayin'...

That would have me down there in a heart beat, no pun intended. I don't have anything going that weekend yet and I prefer the outdoor general admission festivals over the arena shows.

Bay City Rollers dwarfs this one....

I doubt it would be Heart. They're a little big for our Ribfest and they were at our fair two years ago. We've been trying for Rick Springfield, George Thorogood or Sammy Hagar in the past...maybe this year.

Rick Springfield would be good, although he played in Mitchell last year. So it's your radio station that's responsible for booking the band?

Um, if you haven't seen the two or three posts I've made about it, I was let go from the radio station in November because of budget cuts, but yes, we were the station that sponsored it.
