First of all, are you using your natural voice at the very end of "Mother, Father"? (I.E. the final 16 measures.)
Perry did that and I do it, when I can, in what I guess you would call an altissimo voice. It is not a falsetto, but a very high voice pitched above a head voice. It's something that has to come naturally, and in the course of a three hour performance it gets hard to predict what your voice will do when you throw it into that register, so I'd usually test the first notes then revert to falsetto if necessary. I can pull off the altissimo in practice/studio pretty easily still, but the rigors of a live performance with all that stage volume and stress on your voice make it a risky proposition.
Any chance you'll add "If He Should Break Your Heart" to the setlist?
We have a couple "new" songs we're working in as we transition the new players but that won't be one of them.
And what is the most difficult Journey song you've covered?
Probably Mother, Father. It's just a sustained emotional tantrum, and it's very difficult to keep the technical side of it under control while still letting out what needs to come out during that performance.
