....BUCKCHERRY.

A friend of mine gave me a free ticket to go see Saving Abel, Shinedown, Buckcherry, and Avenged Sevenfold in Columbus last week. I didn't know a damn thing about any of the bands except for Saving Abel, who I had seen opening for Airbourne earlier this year. I went away from the show liking SA and loving Shinedown and A7X... BUT....

....Buckcherry was a totally different story.

I, of course, knew "Crazy Bitch" and was kinda hoping/expecting the rest of their music to be different and was ready to not judge them based on their one hit single. Ugh, was I wrong. Don't get me wrong, the band itself was solid, but the lead singer was a completely annoying douchebag who did nothing but an unmelodic, non-fitting half-scream the whole time while dancing awkwardly and grabbing himself and going on stream-of-consciousness rants about how much he loved drugs and hookers..... i could look past that stuff if his singing was good, or if the band was good or anything, but they weren't, oh lord no.....

EVERY SONG sounded the exact same except for maybe two.. and the worst part of it all? At the very end I was "treated" to a 13-minute version of Crazy Bitch!! They were trying to be Dream Theater or something and failing.. this massive performance of the worst hit single ever was as annoying and rewarding as getting a handjob from a girl holding a piece of new sandpaper while watching Friga shave his damn legs.

They all had zero stage presence, which would be forgivable if they had extraordinary talent... but that was nowhere to be found either.

SO glad I didn't pay to see these guys, and I KNOW I won't be doing so again in the future. How they co-headlined with an epic band like A7X and went on after Shinedown is beyond me... same with them getting decent marks and praise/coverage consistently on MR.

horrible horrible shit.

I've heard great things about Shinedown, haven't heard anything besides their Simple Man cover which was overrated to me. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing great. I've hated what I've heard from A7X or whatever their gay acronym is

As far as Buckcherry, I don't know much about the band, I think they may have had some personnel changes over the years, I could be wrong... But, they had a song I REALLY liked when they first came out called "For The Movies" that is a really great 80s-style midtempo ballad-rocker. Look it up, see if they played it for ya guys. I think you'd like that song. Other thna that, I haven't heard much of their stuff besides "Lit Up" and whatever terrible song they have on the radio right now.

Wow - that's very disappointing. I first became aware of Josh Todd from this clip from Live 8 Canada

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J72nLOClV0

and really liked what I heard. I own 3 of Buckcherry's albums and have to say I like most of the songs (not so much the radio hits, but some of the other stuff). Not so sure I would like to see them live though.

Pre 'Crazy Bitch' Buckcherry was a really good rock and roll band. Especially true if you like Appetite era Guns 'N Roses.

I was given a great quality bootleg DVD of the band in concert from a few years back which unexpectedly cuts to footage of the post show party once the gig has finished. Josh Todd wasn't lying when he said he loves drugs and hookers ya now what I mean!

I think the only song I've ever heard of theirs was their song Lit Up. I liked it.

Holy crap, that was BAD! Not really my kind of crowd or performance, I'll stick to listening to the CD's  (Looks like it may have been at Cowboys, from one of the comments. One of my nephews practically lives at that place :) ).

I would have to agree in not being fond of the band. I anticipated something different with the topic.

You want bad, I came across this local band...ugh.

Oh ya, I keep forgetting about Cowboys, it was torn down almost a year ago. They are going to be reopening somewhere else.

Ya, not my kind of crowd or performance either. This is more my speed. :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2VITGGw-jg Mine's the little head in the bottom left you see bopping to the bass around the :40 mark  Just love bass/vocal trade offs. LOL that's the back of a lot of MR heads there.

Hmm... I honestly was expecting Nickelback... worst thing ever to grace the airwaves, in my opinion. By the numbers, trendy, annoying, singalong complete shite.

Bummer. I've got Buck's latest album and I like it (though not crazy bitch), too bad.
There's a similar, though much better band I like called Silvertide. Seriously good band.

NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Saw them opening for Alice Cooper I think it was 2003 or 2004... whichever year he released "The Eyes Of Alice Cooper"... they were pretty impressive.

I'm not sure it gets much worse than The Dave Matthews Band. I'd rather lick random Porta Pottie toilet seats than listen to them fuckers.

I like a lot of Nickelback's stuff, but then I don't listen to them a lot, so I can see his voice being annoying to some in large doses. I like their high energy rock.

Would the hatred of DMB be largely tied to Dave's singing voice and not the band itself?

The band itself has been responsible for the creation of some VERY tasty jamming.

I just think they are bad in general. They can't hold a candle to the jam bands of yesteryear or even some great contemporaries like moe. and Phish. I will admit, half of my hatred stems from the fact that they are so goddamned trendy among younger people... But I still don't like them much.
