Yeah... you're just BJ now.

If that kind of logic would work I could take a town and confiscate all the rubbers and birth control pills and count how many people had sex that night.

That's quite alright, I don't mind.
Calling me BJ is just like calling SP "the Voice" - just highlighting a talent.

No, we have a 'crisis' of priorities.
When we went to war in Iraq I argued that this country could not afford it, literaly. THAT became our priority, not saving for this countries future. Here we were, in the middle of a recesion, going to spend BILLIONS of dollars on a war against a country which was absolutely NO threat to this nation - PERIOD. IMO, it was the DUMBEST decision that any President has made in my lifetime. I would say even Watergate was not as STUPID as invading Iraq. We should have been investing in THIS country...not Iraq. Fuck Iraq...rebuild THIS country before you start worrying about others.
We should have invested those BILLIONS of dollars into getting this country off of its oil addiction. Instead of invading Iraq, we could have been securing our borders. Instead of straining our military, we could have used then strategicaly in Afghanistan - which WAS OBVIOUSLY a terrorist play ground.
There were other ways to the UN inspection thing...tell Iraq (and now Iran and North Korea) we'll bomb the shit out of any facility they refuse to allow inspectors into. Give them 24hrs notice and THEN IT'S BLASTED TO HELL.
The next President is going to have a VERY hard time...because I think we MUST go through a recession to get us out of the W debacle...Just as Reagan led us through to get us through the Carter debacle. We need to get off the oil...and industry is too slow. Offer government contracts to companies who can supply hydrogen fuel cells for military vehicles of any type. Invest in nuclear power, or hydro power, or wind power, or solar power. Invest in ways to burn coal without the polution. Offer contracts to companies who can use alternative fuels to power military bases. GET OFF THE OIL - completely.
These are things the government should be doing - to provide for the common welfare of its people - as stated in the Constitution. Instead we have a nation of factions only interested in their own agendas - and NOTHING gets done for the good of the people - ONLY for the good of their factions.
The next president is going to have to decide if Iraq is a better investment in this countries future then social security, immigration, health care, education, the environment, oil addiction, border security, and HUGE number of domestic issues which W almost totaly ignored for 8yrs. Then he has to deal with the distraction of same sex marriages, abortion, flag burning, spying on potential terrorists at the expense of our rights, representatives masurbating in public, government corruption. Fuck all of that crap - leave it for tabloids and FOX News to sensationalize and make a buck off of. But, it should NOT be the priority of the government - or the people who it works for.
If we choose to elect somebody who refuses to invest in this countries future, and chooses to invest in Iraq, military deployments, and limiting our Constitutional rights, then yes, there WILL be huge problems coming up in the next four years. That is absolutely true. Pat Buchanan is a smart, honestly. He is smart enough to know that if he is going to talk about 'crisis', he is only going to give you what works for his viewpoint - not the big picture. He is not going to go off and tell you that Social Security will not have to suffer so bad if we stop WASTING hundreds of billions of dollars in Iraq, or if we stop wasting the Government's time debating if it is OK if a man has a 'marriage' to another man that we may actually be able to debate and come to a decent proposal for immigration. No, he would rather have this nation concentrate on abortion rights and CAUSE the 'crisis' he mentions.
About Social Security. The first 'baby boomer' recently retired...that is the beginning of a HUGE strain on the system...FEWER people working, MORE people drawing Social Security. We had 8yrs to prepare for it - and our Republican and 'conservative' led government choose to ignore it in favor of their own priorities.
And, it is all Steve Perry's fault. That bastard.

ohsherrie wrote:I guess I read a little deeper, or maybe just different meaning into what Monker said. I interpreted it to mean that ever since Bush managed to use 9/11 as an excuse to invade Iraq the conservatives have had this "your either with us or against us" attitude and if your not with us your not a Patriot. If you didn't support a war that you have every right to disagree with then you weren't supporting our troops and weren't patriotic.

Ok, someone please answer this, because I have a friend who told me Steve Perry invested early on in Microsoft, and made something like 200 mil from it, so he's wayyyyyy set. True or myth?
