LOL. Yeah, Ohhhhhh Kay
I hate to say this...and
I'm sure people on all sides of the fence will agree with me. if money were no object,
Neal Schon would not be in Journey right now. Journey is his job...
he needs it for a steady income stream to pay off the five ex-wives. Musically speaking...and only musically speaking, if money were no object, he would be following his muse and doing far more artistically interesting stuff (to himself)....
Strangegrey I do not agree with you. How do you know where Schon would be at this point in his life?? How do you know about Schon's need to pay his ex's???? How do you know what Schon has done musically lately other than Journey???

You're free to disagree. I just don't believe Neal would be continuing with Journey if he had an income that allowed him to maintain a certain lifestyle. I really think he'd be doing 'other' things musically....and it's based on nothing more than what I sense his attitude is towards Journey both circa 1990s and now. It's a job. It's an income.
Does he have fun doing this? Perhaps. I don't doubt he enjoys playing to 51 year old women who's last few drips of vaginal juices are flowing, thanks to Neal being on stage in front of them. Imagine the power he must feel...but lets get serious.
Are you going to want to play DSB for 40 years or are you going to want to extend your artistic reach beyond your comfort zone. Anyone that writes music knows that you can't let yourself get stale....There's a reason why Neal involves himself with a great deal of outside-of-journey musical projects. I think, given the chance...he would do nothing but that. But invading Mike Carabello performances in a shithole bar in downtown San Fran isn't going to pay the bills.
If you give Neal the choice of complete artistic freedom to do whatever he wants vs. Journey....he'll take the former. The later requires complete financial freedom.....he doesn't have that. I'm not sure Cain does either, despite what some have claimed in this thread. But I do know that 1-2 divorces is a hell of lot lighter a financial burden than 5.
