He had no right to deconstruct anything. He was hired and did what he was hired to do...sing. By your logic, a father that is the main source of income has the right to just throw his wife and kids in the street at any time he chooses, merely because he "built" it in the first place. What narcissistic bullshit.

Funny how Neal is quotable and has credibility at your convenience. Herbie was the source of ALL of the success. Comprende?? ALL of it. Perry took over, for all intents and purposes, around 1984. How'd that go?
EightyRock wrote:In the grand scheme, it did not "destroy" jack, or they wouldn't be touring and re-recording the Perry era material nearly 30 years later.
He destroyed that incarnation and made sure that when he left they had as little momentum as possible. Their was no passing of the torch. Just a bitter fuck that couldn't see the band move on without him because HE did NOT take care of himself.

That's what corporations do.

As is their right. They were Journey before Perry and are still Journey after Perry.

3 or 4

Sorry, but Journey has a defined sound and that sound is wrapped around a high tenor. They'd have to completely deviate from what they have done best for OVER 25 years and at this point that's simply ridiculous.
EightyRock wrote: Soto seemed like the guy to move them away from all that.
He sure did. And right into obscurity rather than the worldwide attention that they have now.
EightyRock wrote: Now we are back to the legacy train
Journey sounding like Journey...what a ridiculous concept.

EightyRock wrote: I'm not feeling a newer, fresher Journey.
I'm hearing a wonderfully familiar sound with a new voice.
