I simply enjoy seeing Arnel up there singing cause I knew him personally and used to be right there watching him twenty-plus years ago in prison. Now he's in some way part of the Superbowl and that's amazing to me.

Yeah, I've always compared the feeling of singing up on stage to the same thrill I get running through my viens when speeding in my car. Try it sometime. If you want to feel what it's like getting up on stage and singing in front of tons of people but you don't have a band, just get in your car and go about 135mph down a busy freeway weaving in and out of freeway traffic and see what that's like. It's a mixure of pure excitement, thrill and being scared all rolled into one. Very addictive in some cases.

So that's what Arnel was in for.....speeding. But the good part of this type of speeding is you won't get a ticket for going over the speed limit like you will in a car.

Yeah, but legend has it Jeremey passed up on the opportunity to join Journey completely on his own. I thought Jeremey was very good, it was that youtube vid someone posted where he was singing with JSS at what looked like someones backyard bbq.

You know, DSB is such a classic song and it is and will always be synonymous with Steve Perry - no one will ever come close to sounding like he did on it and who on this planet doesn't associate this song with him and his voice?? It's a signature song, much like Frank Sinatra singing My Way or New York, New York...that's just the way it is........ it will never change.... no matter who will attempt to sing this song, people will always associate it with Perry.

Arnel really DID nail it this summer. I went to the first show in Denver. I had front row, center seats and he was incredible! I felt really bad for the band today.

I honestly believe their biggest mistake (besides letting Perry get away) was not to run with what Soto had to offer.

Maybe he didn't nail the old songs, but I thought he rocked pretty hard and could have brought Journey into the millenium by changing the path Journey would take into a harder edged sound.

It seems to me that the band continues to pursue what worked for them years ago instead of creating a hard rocking band that Soto could have brought to the table. Just my thought

I agree. AP is a very good singer but I think he will continue to struggle with the catalog and have on and off performances. I would have preferred to see them carry on with JSS and changed it up a bit and move forward in a new direction.....but I really like what JSS is doing since Journey...we might not have gotten that and what he has to bring in the future if he was still with the band.

See, I can only compare it to today's performance by Arnel. The fact that we have seen and heard Pineda kick the shit out of that song only added to the depression most of us felt by the performance. The fact that Perry was once the greatest vocalist of all time is something that will become an insurmountable weight if he couldn't pull it off.

The fact that he is Steve Perry isn't good for me. Like Arnel, SA, and JSS, he has to do the song justice. If not, I don't want him back. And I don't see how anyone -- even a LOON -- could think otherwise.
