I thought that Neal just recently moved into a home on Lake Travis which is right by Austin, Texas.

Jon was talking about moving there, I don't know if he did. I will ask him tonight at the show.

So you are offically going on-record and saying being miles apart from a band actually bolsters group chemistry?
I think my post is plenty valid, or at the very least, thought-stirring.

I hyperbolicly depicted Minnesota as some vast Siberian tundra.
You got your streak-marked skivvies in a twist over that?
You're a petty fool.

For the record, I've been posting here much longer than Deano, and as Andrew could easily attest, have been warned/banned thru the moon.

I think they probably get enough of each other while they're on tour. And accomplish a lot of writing on tour as well. And if they need to get together, all they need to do is hop on a plane.

It's a simple fact that it's easier to write with your bandmates when they share ur zipcode.

Well naming a child for a friend is something friends do. But since you probably have none I can see why you don't understand. However if you bring my daughter in any way into any conversation again you will have more problems than you will now how to deal with.
Chrome domed, I like that actually. I was shaving my head long before Agassi thought of it, since you seem to put a store in how long someone has been doing things. I am a Marine, which means I have acutally DONE something with my life, unlike you.

Yeah, or to shamelessly curry favor with a bandmember.
Being named after someone as stupedefying "average" as Ross Valory is akin to having the Scarlet Letter branded on your forehead.
Like it or not, you've probably stigmatized that poor girl for life.

What about Helen Keller, Martin Luther King, Albert Einstein?
Now these are all great people truly worthy of naming someone after.

whats the big deal here... Neal loves the midwest.. and MN is a great place to raise your KIDS... which he now has two little ones... wifes family is from there.. has her parents to help look after em while Neal is being a rock god... ... get over it.. BTW there is a thing called a plane to hop on for a few months to write songs.. or have the band come to minneapolis to write music...

I guess this means that Journey should no longer be considered a Bay Area band. Do any of the guy's live in the SF area anymore. If Neal is in MN and Jon is in or going to TX, Castronovo is from OR, JSS ? - - I guess that leaves Ross in the Bay Area if that is true.

As far as the chemistry thing, I would imagine that it would work out better if they were all living closer together. Like Neal would drive down to Jon's house and they would write an record. Just seems much easier. Plus he had connections with alot of the other muscians in the area : Hagar, Satriani, Blades, etc. But in this day and age everyone is only a plane flight or email file away. I recall reading somewhere that Neal does not like to fly much anymore though. I know Neal's mom still lives in Hayward, hopefully he will still be back in the area from time to time.

I'll always consider them a Bay Area band, even if some move out the Bay Area for part of the time. It's been the HQ forever and Fantasy in Berkely and The Plant in Sausalito and of course the studios in SF itself are where most of the records were made. I hope they stick w/ The Plant, too.

Yes, TNC is not the wanna be, he's the "puppet master" behind the Deano Tapegate Puppet, as he himself went into hiding so as not to suffer a hit from the Journey Mafia.

Who gives a rats ass who lives where in a band? With today's technology, there are band members who have never even met in person and they still put out killer cd's. My friend Lance has put out 3 cd's with the European Metal band Balance Of Power and has maybe only met the rest of the band 3-4 times. He's done 2 cd's with his band Pyramaze and the band itself has only played together 2-3 times, once in north Minneapolis. He just put out a cd with Dave Ellefson of Megadeth fame, under the name Avian and the actual band has never even played together, but a make-shift version of the band played at a ProgMetal fest in St. Paul last May.

All I'm trying to say is that bands don't needs to sleep, eat, and breath together to make good music, especially with todays technology, gadgets, and other music programs

On top of all that, Minnesota is an AWESOME place to live. Sure we get a few shitbomb snowstorms, but not nearly what the rest of the US seems to think we get. Our summer's are nice for the most part with a few engodly humid days here and there, but nothing to worry about. I'd much rather have a variety of weather than to live somewhere it's constant rain, constant heat, or constant drought. The people up here are pretty much genuinely nice, and education system is very good and there's plenty of great things to see and experience. Waseca is only about 40 miles from me. If I run into Neal, I'll tell him Hello from everyone here  And have him sign every guitar, Journey cd, shirt, poster I own....... 8) He's a AxeSlingin GOD!

Like so many trade school rejects that inevitably find their way into the armed services, you espouse a disturbing "shoot first and ask questions later" methodology.
I know men that have proudly served their country and u display none of their ethos.
In fact, your burly barroom brawler demeanor leads me to believe you are a sociopath.

In case you forgot, YOU uninstigatively chose to pounce on me in this thread.
Hope you enjoyed going down in your proud hail of gun fire, soldier.

1st I have a Bachelors in Biochemistry, a Masters in Information Technology, a Masters in Psychology and am working on getting a JD. So I am no trade school reject.
I would bet if you brought into a discussion any child of one of the people you say you know proudly served they would kick your ass on the spot.
I warned you to leave my child out of any discussion and you unwisely chose to ignore that advice.
I did jump on you, because you were being a horses ass and not doing it well. Deano is at least inventive, you aren't even that.
More and more you are digging a hole that you won't be able to climb out of.
I have done more in and with my life than you could ever hope to do and I PROUDLY served my country, even actually fought for it in the Gulf (the first time around) what have you done? I won't tell you to stop running your mouth I served to give you the right to do so but I would suggest modifying your tactics, at least toward me and my family or you will write a check your ass can't cash.

Funny how you call the military in country full of "rejects" but your so called friends "proudly" served. You should get down on your knees and that everyone of us that has served or is serving for protecting your right to act like a half baked cocksucker all the time.
You are an imbicile and none of the flowery language you use can had that fact.

Oh and there are no such words as "stupedefying" or "uninstigatively". Hmmm...call me what you will, but at least I don't use words that don't exist to try and make a point. "Try" being the operative word in that sentence.

Ok fry cook. They aren't pompous degrees...the are symbols of YEARS spent achieving something, of a life that has meaning. You have none of that. Calling them "pompous" just shows you are either jealous or have no idea what a degree is. Perhaps you should start with a simple GED for yourself. Then maybe you won't have to use made up words. You are the sorriest loser here. I pity you for your ignorance, and yet find it amusing you continue to prove just how ignorant you are with each and every post you make.

I can't go hunt TNC down and put his open mouth to a curb like I would like to...

He's moving to MN, not Siberia. Minnesota is only seriously cold maybe in Jan and and Feb. The rest of the year there is very nice unless your near the Canadian border and if Neal is moving there, his wife is from Waseca, which is far south. It's not California by any means, but then again who wants to live with smog, earthquakes and plastic people?

I like MN. It reminds me of upstate New York and has beautiful seasons, especially fall.

Regarding CA, I have to say that not all of it is made up of smog, earthquakes and plastic people. I live in Northern CA, and even when the huge earthquake hit and destroyed much of the freeway system in SF, we didn't feel it where we live. The smog, such as it is up here, usually gets blown out and inland (toward Fresno :) ) and the plastic people for the most part, are in LA.

There are many parts of Northern CA that are "rustic" in that they are hilly and have beautiful landscapes and in some respects, also remind me of upstate NY. Apple Hill is one of our favorite places to go in the fall and it's only about an hour from our home. Lake Tahoe is gorgeous and in spite of the tourism, much of it is still beautiful. I tend to think of Northern CA as a separate entity from Southern CA. They are worlds apart in my opinion and I've lived in both sections.

Just some thoughts. I'm not taking umbrage, really. Usually when I say I'm from New York, people always ask, "What part of the city?" So I've learned to say I'm from upstate NY to avoid confusion.

I like CA. It's my home.
